- LLauraSeattle / Eastern Washington •8 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoOnce again a lovely early evening/dinner at Duke’s! We’ve never been disappointed here! This trip to Maui I’ve had both the banana leaf fresh fish and the seafood risotto…both were amazing. My husband had the macadamia nut crusted fresh fish…also delicious. Our waiter Luke was attentive, knowledgeable and took great pics for us but never hovering. Without a doubt, we’ll be back next time we’re on Maui. This place has become one of our very favorite places to dine in the island.More infoDuke's Beach House MauiPrice: Moderate• Hawaii Regional Cuisine• Kaanapali•4.7

- SSALLYVIPHawaii •10 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoSeriously it was our best meal on the island so far. we had early bird special 2 course for $34. I had maji and my husband had Ono. Salad and the potstickers are awesome. Even the carrot which was grilled with kiave wood was incredible. We are going back this week. Drinks are pricey but you are on the ocean! Also our server was very good. Happy all the way around. 😊More infoHula Grill - KaanapaliPrice: Expensive• Hawaii Regional Cuisine• Kaanapali•4.5
- JJeromeVIPOrange County •3 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoTakumi Sushi is a new sushi restaurant in Kaanapali that is truly outstanding. This review will focus on Takumi’s omakase offering, but the restaurant also offers a less expensive patio dining option featuring a range of a la carte nigiri and roll choices or combos, as well as a tempura combo. All of the patio options can also be ordered as takeout, along with a 40 or 60 piece sushi platter. Any of their sushi is top notch and reasonably priced ($30-60 for a meal) given the top quality. The 17 dish omakase course is absolutely world class. (Takumi’s $160 omakase is as good as much more expensive omakase dinners that my Japanese wife and I have had in Japan and California). There is presently only one omakase seating per night for the 7 sushi counter seats and one 4 person table. Reservations on their website. Chef Yamada is very friendly and explains each item that he has chosen for the evening in fluent English and Japanese. The omakase course has a few traditional items such as pickled vegetables, chawanmushi, grilled fish and tender octopus (which I usually hate but was delectable). But the star of the evening was, of course, THE SUSHI. Chef Yamada prepared about 10 delicately seasoned nigiri sushi, most of them exotic cuts of fish that you won’t see in your typical sushi restaurant, except the tuna which was the best of thousands of maguro that I’ve eaten in my life — just melt-in-your mouth, savory delicious! The fish are mostly flown in that day from Japan, though the marvelous sweet shrimp (amaebi) came from Molokai. The last sushi item was a delightful hand roll containing toro and crunchy takuwan radish pickles). Yes, $160 is not cheap for a dinner, but you will feel that you got full value for a very memorable sushi experience that may be the best of your life.More infoTakumi MauiPrice: Very Expensive• Japanese Speciality• Kaanapali•5

Considering Hawaii's rich history of immigration and settlement, it's no surprise that Kaanapali's food is just as diverse as its people. It's a great place to try some of Hawaii's regional specialties, including the Hawaiian plate lunch. Similar to a buffet, plate lunches serve up foods like teriyaki chicken, chili, and loco moco, a Hawaiian classic. The loco moco is symbolic of the melting pot that is Hawaiian cuisine. It offers a combination of Asian and Western flavors in a fried egg stacked on a hamburger patty, piled on white sticky rice and doused with gravy. Maui is also well-known for its sweets, so be sure to try a cup of shaved ice!
