View of water watching whales made it a dinner theatre
Vacationing in Maui:)
Excellent service, food, and location
Oversll we enjoy the Hula Grill whenever we are in Maui. The fiod is great akthough can be pricey. The service is good, although this time we encountered an issue when we ordered something from the menu and after waiting for this item to be brought to the table, well after the other entree’s were brought, we were told that the other item wasn’t available. This was something the wait staff should have know and told us earlier.
Great dinner experience. Our server, Billie, took great care of us and our meal was excellent, followed by a wonderful Hula Pie!
Poke tacos were great, seafood pasta a bit heavy. Limited kids menu because outdoor was closed due to weather (so no pizza or chicken fingers...) . Waitstaff super accommodating and helpful.
It was raining, but we didn't get wet due to the shades that don't cut out the view. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The high quality of the food once again impressed this dietitian. Our lunch was delicious. Thank you for bringing back the brownie sandwich. Love T S Restaurants!!
It was a rainy day in Maui so we were disappointed that our view was damp and windy. But our experience at Hula Grill was pleasant. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the calamari was a starter and honestly wasn’t too impressed. The coating was heavy and the calamari was cut into thick strips; it was flavorful but not what I had envisioned when we read the description. The Poke Tacos, though, were light and fresh and delicious. I ordered the fourth one (it comes with three) for $3 more thinking the starter size wouldn’t be enough for my main but it was actually pretty filling. My husband’s Panko crusted seared ahi was also excellent; perfectly cooked and flavorful. Overall, a great experience for a local seafood lunch.
This is one of those places that you want to like. The food is very good and the service is also good.
However, the place is SOO LOUD that you can not have a reasonable conversation. I would caution people about the noise level. It really is too bad because they do everything else well.
Hula Grill was our favorite in Whalers. This was only place we dined twice. Food excellent! Pork shank perfect and snapper great. Also enjoyed shrimp and a steak. Montana (waiter) first night was outstanding.
A little loud but we enjoyed the whole scene.
The food was not as tasty as previous visits. Tried the pork shank and was way over cooked. Our friend ordered the Mac crusted ono and it was a tiny portion for the price they were asking. Just overall not a great experience, but the wines were very good!
Lovely ambience. Disappointed in menu selection compared to other restaurants nearby.
Asked for grilled chicken with my salad, the chicken was very dry. Waiter very good about it, but ruined the salad. I canceled our next reservation.
Food and server were fantastic, however, the hostess staff was terrible. We waited 30 minutes despite a reservation and then seated at a table too small for party of 5. Not going back, especially with kids.
Hula grill is terribly over priced - even for Maui. Food was not creative and just ok. Friend was charged for 3 lemonaids when server asked “refill”? My pasta dish was salty. It was noisy. Perhaps the bar and burgers are a better way to experience Hula Grill. As far as dinner, much better choices on Maui.
Our experience was amazing!!! We made a late 11 people for a 50 th birthday and we were more than accommodated . The entire staff was fantastic and the food sooooo good!!!
We always have lunch at the Hula Grill when we come to Maui. Our lunch was great and we were entertained by the whales breaching right out front.
Our waIter, Ryan, was exceptional. Such a nice young man and a joy to have serve us.
The food was mediocre, at best. Noodles were dry and had way too much garlic. Fish was over cooked, dry and tough. It’s a shame to eat poorly cooked fish in Hawai’i.
The menu has many tempting options. We tried the poke tacos, toasted shishito peppers, and the mahi mahi - all were very good. The Aka Mai Tai was also fantastic. We’ll be back!
My husband ordered something new but wasn’t thrilled with it. They noticed that he didn’t eat even half of it and insisted on refunding the meal. We told them that was not necessary but they pride themselves on complete satisfaction. The service was wonderful and wish we could have spent more meals there. Headed home the next day though. Wonderful place to relax and eat.
A lovely evening. Our server was excellent. It was a birthday and the server brought a free ice cream sandwich dish (it was prettier and fancier than it sounds). We will definitely go back. However, be sure to have reservations for the dining room. They were very busy. There are no reservations for the Barefoot Cafe and on the day we went it was a 45 minute wait. So we were glad that we had reservations in the dining room. Also we had two boys with us under the age of 9 and the staff was excellent. No stink eye. :-)
Always a great environment. Service was fantastic as usual. First time having lunch, as we usually go for dinner on our trips here to Maui. Appetizers were good as always. Fish tacos were OK, but in fairness we fish and chips next-door at Monkeypod Kitchen are so great
Always a pleasure to dine at Hula Grill, a Maui favorite of ours 😊
Kudos to Jerry, our server, for being full of Aloha. The evening started out on a rough note but he turned it around. Mahalo also to Lucas for coming by our table.
Always the place we go on our first night for dinner.
Very good fish. One of us had a filet steak which was very good. The rest of us had fresh fish...and we all thought it was very good. We all had ice cream sandwich desserts...very good!
My wife asked for steak to be served well done and it came medium. Manager came to our table and apologized. We still had to pay for uneaten steak. Fish is prepared well here.
Great Waiter. Excellent food and views
Would definitely recommend...
Very loud but good food.
Good service and food.
Great location right on Kaanapali Beach. Food was very, very good. Wait staff was attentive and service was great. My only complaint is that it seems whenever I eat here I get stuck in one of the far back tables. I must have a "put us in the back" sign on my forehead when I walk in. Kinda kidding. It was a great meal.
Had the ahi tuna with noodles and it wasn’t nearly as good as the ahi tuna dish at your sister restaurant,, Dukes.
We loved our meal at the Hula Grill and can't wait to go back again!
Super early bird dinner special , three course meal fish excellent
We usually visit the Barrfoot Bar but we felt that it was time for a change. The restaurant was wonderful with the same excellent food options plus additional options. The service was outstanding under the Carr of DJ...ask for him. We love Table 103. Don’t miss this great ocean front restaurant.
Steak was amazing source was great flavour. Starter and desert also excellent
Disappointed with restrictive menu, especially for non-seafood patrons. Much too pricey for the food we were served. Much better off going to their bar - better food for better price.
Restaurant mai tai far inferior to Barefoot bat mai tai.
Another great evening. Server was spectacular and food was outstanding. Tuna steak world class. Thanks
The best for all around Hawaii restaurant the food is wonderful and the tasting menu sitting in front of the chefs is a great experience and great menu value!
Had dinner here on one of the coldest evenings of the year. Staff grief to accommodate us by giving us a warm table. We all enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Food here is always good.
Great service, excellent food. Love the ambiance. Scott is a great server!
