Duke's Beach House Maui
Steak not cooked to order. Chicken was over salted. Drinks seemed watered down. Not up to Dukes usual excellent standards.
Service was excellent.
Great Aloha hour with live music and sunset views. Kalua pork nachos were a great shareable and delicious, but we would not recommend the buffalo chicken deviled eggs. Looking forward to returning for dinner with the tempting seafood main entrees.
Didn't meat our high expectations. The food was pricey, which was expensive, but the meals were not up to that standard. The food was just ok, especially the fish. The steak was good but not great. The waiter looked like he was high on something. He recited the menu at 200 words per minute and made only an occasional eye contact. He also had a full on conversation with a couple at an adjacent table which looked like they wanted him to leave but he kept talking about himself and his family roots. Regrettable experience considering we saved Duke's for our last night on the island. We had visited many restaurants during our trip and I can say with confidence that this was the worst experience due to food on this day and waiter. If you decide to go, I hope you have a better experience.
This place came highly recommended by friends and family... the ambiance and service was exceptional however the food was not that great. We might have mad the mistake of ordering burgers all around - their specialty dishes or seafood dishes might have been amazing. Our friend always says though, if you can’t make a good burger how is the rest of the menu supposed to be good? The taro rolls were amazing though! Come at sunset for drinks and appetizers and go somewhere else for the meal.
Mittagessen - leider nur ein Tisch hinten ohne schöne Aussicht. Essen war ok, nicht überragend.
There’s nothing to complain about. Mama’s pats attention to detail. The restaurant is filled with gorgeous native floral arrangements. The service is impeccable with the perfect amount of attention to you needs without being overbearing. The food is delicious. The stuff fish is culinary genius! Finally, the view is classic Hawaiian ocean front with palm trees and a beautiful courtyard.
Menu has really good choices for everybody. The mix of flavors are very tasty. Very active bar and busy. The location is in Whalers Village, so expect it to be very busy, reservations a MUST! The desserts are wonderful!
We had a horrible experience at Duke's Maui. We had a reservation and were 15 minutes late as we could not find the restaurant due to a lack of signs. We were rudely told at the front desk that reservations are only held for 10 minutes, and that we would have to wait about another 1/2 hrs to be seated and were given a timer. We were also told that we could grab a table up front by the bar if one became available. After about 20 minutes a table by the bar became available and we grabbed it. Water was served to us as it started to rain and our table and chairs were soaking wet. A waiter came over to take our drink order and didn't acknowledge the fact that our table was wet. We asked if we could move our table under the cover so that our 4 year child was not getting wet, and we were told we could try but couldn't move the table beside us out from under the cover as then they wouldn't be able to serve people at that table. We then asked if we could just wait to be seated at a regular table and were told if would now be over an 1 1/2. Needless to say, we were very unhappy with the treatment we received as we were really looking forward to our 6:45pm dinner. No apologies or other accommodations were offered to us, so our only choice was to leave, hungry and extremely disappointed with the way that we were treated.
Duke’s is not the place to go if you or anyone in your party has nut allergies. Our waiter did not tell us this. We placed our orders and then overheard another waiter mentioning this issue. We then spoke to our waiter who then confirmed that all fried parts of the meal are fried in same oil. They fry macadamia nut products in this oil and the ahi tuna is fried in peanut oil. Had we not heard the other waiter mention this, we would have had a very serious situation on our hands. The waiter did not even offer to stop the appetizer orders we had made that all were contaminated with there oil friend with other nut dishes!
Enjoyed a delightful dinner at Duke's on a Friday evening. Reservations made, a good idea as this location is usually very busy. Open air with beautiful sunset views, our server was very friendly filet at $39, cooked to perfection & the corn & mashed potatoes made it yummy. The restaurant has no A1 steak sauce, fyi. 2nd Entree was the special of the evening, a Hawaiian snapper served over mashed potatoes & asparagus for $44. That price was a bit high I thought. It was delicious & a delicate white fish. We had a coupon for free Hula Pie so of course, we had to have it. As always, it is delightful & delicious - save room or share one with the whole table. It's worth it.
Dukes was a nice venue to meet up for drinks, lunch, or dinner. We stayed at the Honua Kai so the location was so convenient. The live music from 3-6pm each evening was an added bonus.
Good food. Great location. Service was slow however and we were a late lunch and not crowded.
Someone has left the game, Dukes used to be great, now just okay.
Staff are no longer attentive, saw many looking at their watches or phones. No up sell by the server, some staff look very unkempt. Food was just ok. And we thought we where eating in a daycare. Why would anyone with a captive market make their restaurant family friendly.
Sorry after many years of Duke visits we wont be back, gladly spend more at Roys for a better experience.
Our family had a wonderful experience at Dukes! Our first time here.. but def not our last! See you again Dukes Maui !🌴♥️🌴♥️
Overall good experience. Great sunset view!
The location and setting are wonderful. The service was terrific. However, the food was extremely disappointing. The fresh fish was very overcooked. Also, the prices, as with most Maui restaurants, was way overpriced. I would recommend only for the setting and the Kula Pie!
Dukes was a wonderful island experience. It had a fun vibe with first class service. Loved the food with exception of the vegetables, which were warm, but barely cooked. I was offered a substitute vegetable (vs the hard carrots and broccoli) by the waiter. I declined as I had plenty more perfectly cooked food to enjoy. The sunset view from our open air table was superb. A visit to Dukes is a must for getting into the island vibe.
Always great food
Nice setting, quick prompt service.
Service was great. Excellent views and location. My special fish was overcooked and chewy.
Very nice place and live music. Food was good and very friendly service. If you want to enjoy a nice relaxing meal though, it may not be the place as it can be a bit loud particularly because there were many children running around amongst the tables and diners which was unfortunate.
We received a gift certificate for Dukes which we used while staying in Maui. When the certificate ran out we continued to eat there because we were so delighted with the food. We highly recommend this restaurant!!
Had the flank steak and added a lobster tail which was one of the Best I’ve ever tasted !!!
Our favorite place to eat on Maui. You have to try the hula pie! One serving is definitely enough to share.
Dukes never disappoints...the fish is always cooked perfectly .
Love it, love it, love it 💕
As always Duke’s doesn’t disappoint! We always eat here first night on island! See you again soon Duke’s crew!
Service was great and food was delicious.. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family..
Jim the server was great! We had a wonderful experience.
The food here was really disappointing—especially for the price. The fish was dry and bland. My husbands dish was also just ok. He had the surf and turf special.
Dukes was great. Our server was laid back and I ordered one of the specials on his recommendation which was fantastic. The creme brûlée trio dessert was really good. Will be back next time I visit.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday while in Maui
Perfect setting, wonderful service and delicious food. Duke’s never disappoints.
Best Hawaiian ambience and Sunsets on the Kaanapali Coast!
We have eaten at Duke’s several times and have been satisfied with the food and service. However, this time was a different story. It was a super windy night and our table was outside at the edge of the restaurant. No fault of theirs about the weather, but nobody asked us if we’d like to move tables or inside. Our waiter took over 45 minutes to take our order and well over an hour before we got served. One child’s chicken tenders smelled like fish and he wouldn’t eat it. It was our last night on the island and we were disappointed.
Great dinner, great views, will be back next time for sure.
Great food and service
Beautiful view and great food!
Thank you so much Sam for taking such good care of us and turning an everyday friends get together into a special night! His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot on 👏🏻
The ono was a bit on the dry side and the lobster was okay. The sides of rice and veggies were not very flavorful. The sword fish and bbq ribs were decent. Caveat: we were at Mama's Fish House the night before, so that may have skewed our palates. What you're paying for at Duke's is location. The service was good. The food is just okay.
This was the family’s first time at Dukes and everyone liked it so much that we are going back on Friday!!
