Ciccino opened in November 2022 on the corner of California & Hyde Streets in Nob Hill.
The restaurant’s name Ciccino is Italian for ‘little piece of meat’. The name was given to Chef Gian Marco and his siblings in honor of his late father, Angelo Cosmi (the town’s local plumber), who would eat a steak ‘ciccia' sandwich for lunch. His father’s employees would admire his daily sandwich and he soon earned the name ‘Manga Ciccia’, Italian for ‘eat meat’. Gian Marco’s father passed in 2002 and still to this day, the Cosmi siblings are known as ‘Ciccino’.
Hints of copper and natural, industrial touches were intentional when Gian Marco’s wife, Lynsey Rose, designed the restaurant’s elevated and rustic interior.

Meski will marry Ethiopian and Afro-Latin flavors in dishes like a T-bone steak in a berbere-coffee rub, above, served with chile-glazed plantains and pigeon peas.
Meski, named after Fassil's late mother, will serve dishes like sancocho, a Dominican meat stew, infused here with Ethiopian spices. Sambusas will made from yuca, the fried pockets filled with berbere-spiced beef or lentils. As they've developed the menu, German said he's been delighted to notice parallels between his native Dominican cuisine and Ethiopian food. His mother's steak encebollado stew, for example, reminds him of Ethiopian beef tibs.
Please note due to high demand and the intimate size of our restaurant, reservations for parties of six or fewer are allotted a 90-minute dining experience.

Great experience for my husband and his friends, they really enjoyed the food and the ambiance and the level of detail in moving things along in a orderly way. No wonder this will always be an SF staple.

Outstanding food and service. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was great, she offered suggestions and ensured that my meal was prepared without garlic. We laughed about how loud the music was and she had it turned down a bit and even put a favorite song on the playlist. We love Acquarello, the parent company of Sorella. Sorella is continuing the tradition with superb food “in the family”. We started with the tuna crudo with fresh anchovies and tonnato sauce. Beautiful presentation and it tasted even better than it looked. Every bite had another flavor profile all of which worked perfectly with each other. I had the spaghetti alla chitarra, with clams and fennel. I am a big fan of linguine with clams and this was a very interesting version. They added fennel and lots of different herbs and spices, the flavor exploded in your mouth. My husband had the drunken mafaldine with braised beef cheeks. The beef checks were very tender and melted in your mouth. We shared the gelato for dessert which was a perfect ending. They also brought some complimentary candy at the end of the meal. Especially liked the passion fruit. The wine list had a lot of interesting wines by the bottle and glass. Highly recommend Sorella, we will definitely be back.

Restaurant experiences trending in San Francisco Bay Area

Discover Nob Hill

The ritziest of San Francisco’s seven hills, Nob Hill’s food scene often gets overlooked, and that’s just the ways the locals like it. Not even the mighty 1906 earthquake could destroy these grand blocks of the city—you can still find black smoke from the 1906 fire on some of the granite in the neighborhood. Sprinkled amidst some of the city’s most iconic hotels are classic steakhouses, high-end bistros and even a classic, kitschy tiki bar that set the standard for tropical cocktails. Hop off a cable car, take in the dazzling views, and get a taste of the good life.
