Osso Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Steak was good. You definitely get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a high end steak dinner this isn’t it however it’s really good for a step below if you want something more family oriented and casual. I wouldn’t take a client here but I’d definitely come back.
The service was pretty bad even though they weren’t super busy. After 20 minutes of waiting for water and I menu I had to go ask for it. The first time they delivered our food they gave us someone else’s, no problem they fixed it but when the bill came their meal was also on our bill. Again that was fixed. We poured our own wine since our server never came back. The one thing that really rattled me was I stopped someone to refill my water and he filled it over the top to where it was spilling over. He quickly apologized, no big deal but then he picked up my glass and poured a bit of the water back into the community water pitcher!?! Ick! I’m not sick or anything but still! Pouring the water glass I had been drinking back into the pitcher that everyone else was going to drink out of is so gross.
All in all the food was fine. I’d eat there again for a last minute choice but I’d never entertain there.
Petite filet and bone in filet were the steaks of choice and they were perfectly cooked with delicious pan sauce. All sides were tasty, each enough for two to three people. We had creamed corn, mushrooms and asparagus. Corkage fee was surprisingly reasonable at $10.00. Service was attentive and not overdone. One small correction to the water desired was the only thing that comes to mind that could be improved. A bit Pricy overall.
My fiancé and I came here tonight to celebrate my birthday and our engagement. We had reservations and were sat right away. We really enjoyed our chorizo cheese bread and bone in filet. The reason for only two stars is because of it waiter, Joshua. He did not make our experience memorable nor did we feel welcome. We felt as if we were just another table and just trying to get us out for the next table. Other wait staff filled our drinks the entire time and were much more friendly!
When our food came, the filet was delicious. Not one time did Joshua ask how our food was, how we were, or if we would like another glass of wine or drink. It was almost comical because I counted 8+ times that he walked by our table and not one word. With many years of experience in restaurant management this type of service is not acceptable for such a upscale restaurant.
It was disappointing to celebrate such a joyous occasion at this restaurant. My fiancé advised the host it was my birthday. Another waiter brought a pana cotta with a candle which was sweet, but this is after Joshua asked us if we wanted dessert (which I ordered not knowing a pana cotta was coming). Overall, great food, poor server.
Really like the rib eye, and enjoyed the energetic ambiance. Server was very attentive. Food was a B, but priced like an A. Good on most, fair on many (salads) and disappointing there was no plane baked potatoe. I ordered beet salad, which was gorgeously presented, but portions very small. Got it right on quality, but not so good on value and quantity.
The Osso Restaurant was a great spot that makes you think super fancy while still being chill inside. Our table for 2 was set with lounge chairs, which I enjoyed. We had a delicious bottle of Cabernet and the dungeoness crab cakes, which were the best I've ever had. They weren't oily and the crab was out of this world. I don't think I can eat crab cakes elsewhere again! I had the 8 oz. filet, which was cooked perfectly and could be cut through with a butter knife. It is truly the best piece of steak I've ever had. The sauce that came with was amazing and our waiter recommended the twice baked potato, which was also amazing and paired with the steak and wine and sauce. It's expensive but the meat is absolutely worth it and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I've been there before and had a great meal. Unfortunately this time the service really dropped off as we were flagging down the waiter. When our meal came 3 of the dishes were spot on and 2 steaks were unfortunately well over-cooked. They took them back and it took 20 minutes to bring back said steaks which meant everyone else was done dining. They also didn't think to ask if we wanted plates while waiting to eat our side items. When I brought up to the 'manager', he said that was highly unusual and pretty much left it at that. Unfortunately I can no longer recommend this restaurant due to the lack of service and care.
Chorizo bread was amazing and loved the Brussel sprout chips. We were not impressed with steak flavor and the child size macaroni and cheese.
Waiter could have been better and he removed plates without asking if we cared to take home our leftover steak and bread. He did comp us on ticket with the bread and dessert.
It was a nice place but I was expecting a better flavoring on steak and service could be improved.
I would go back again for the bread and Brussel sprout chips alone. Thank you.
Made reservations for my boyfriend birthday. I brought balloons and they set up the table before we arrived. It was a real surprise for him, overall i was very satisfied with the whole night. The waiter was exceptional, and even surprised us with a suggested dessert. It was bomb, definitely will be coming back again
The waiter was rude and basically useless. I got a cocktail, and it was not good. They forgot my wife's salad. The mac & cheese was edible, but not great. The tables are super close so you are part of the next tables conversation. Then they "cleared" the tables and put the plates on chairs. Anyhow, will never go back...
YUM! Super attentive waiters. Right after being seated, we got asked if we wanted water 3 times from 3 different waiters within the span of 1 minute. The waiters were on it and made sure we were set. Steak was HUGE, sides were delish and drinks were strong. Highly recommend the italian potstickers! Thanks Osso Steakhouse for a lovely date night!
I was looking forward to checking out this restaurant based on the reviews. Our appetizer, the chorizo bread, was amazing as well as there tomato salad. My husband and I got steak cooked medium as our entree and both Both were requested as medium. Unfortunately both were super rare when they came out. We felt this restaurant was severely over priced based on the quality we
We loved our dinner. Lat time we had the rib eye (and shared for 2) at $60. It was delicious and really a great deal of great meat!!!
This time we shared at $95 the Porterhouse for '3, but not only was it NOT enough for 3 of us......but the meat was not at all as tasty and wonderful as the rib eye.
I think I will stick to the rib eye for 2 ad get better meat and more to eat. I am a small woman, 118 lbs!!! so I am not the biggest eater, but do like to leave a restaurant 'full'.....
Visiting SF took an early dinner @ 6:15. Place was empty. Seated immed then didn't see anyone for ar least 10 mins. Service was consistently slow throughout. Ordered martinis, asked if thsy had bleuchz stuffed olives... "for 2.95 ea I would be happy to stuff them for you". Really?! We ordered the petit filet and the "big" ribeye twice baked potato sauteed mushrooms. Filet was good med rare cooked perfect so was ribeye. Ribeye was not as "big" as they made out to be. Presentation was absent. Meat on a plate. Not even so much as a little parsley. Also ordered cesar and house salad. Cesar was good house was drenched in dressing. Bread was offered for an add'l fee .99 I think. Just a little silly nickel and diming when spending this much for your meal. When they say "a la carte" they're not kidding. Waiter would disappear and the place was dead. Definitely not impressed. We're from San Diego compared to Donovan or Flemmings no contest. It was just ok and for those prices it should be amazing!
We sent to Osso's last year and it was wonderful and we were very impressed with it. We were in San Francisco again this year - it's a yearly thing with us. We go for California Grand Lodge. We will, most certainly, go to Ossa every year. The food is excellent. The filet mignon melts in your mouth. The prices are high but the quality of the food is worth every bit so I consider it a value. Try the Brussel sprouts chips they are great!
We loved the restaurant and enjoyed the food. When we made the reservation we mentioned it was our anniversary, we were placed by the kitchen. It would have been nice to have been placed in a less busy area and it would have been more special had the server mentioned the special occasion.
Celebrating a birthday (6) of us - was seated in a back room. This room was very uneventful and lacked the buzz of the main room which is where I thought we were going to be seated. Our reservations were made well in advance and our guests were first time diners at Osso. They also were disappointed with the table and room we were seated at for this special occasion.
