A decent steak, decent wine offerings, but nothing special in either department. Certainly not special enough to justify the price. However, the ambiance was lovely and the service outstanding.

A below average experience considering the prices. It was too loud for convenient conversation. The service was very slow. The bathroom is on a different floor. You need to purchase bread. The cheese bread, brussel sprouts, and fried olives were good but way too expensive for the quality and quantity. I am glad I tried the place, but I will not be going back.

Our experience was poor at best. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar to find a very nice but overworked bartender. We were seated at 8:45 for an 8:30 reservation. Waiter was totally overwhelmed with too many tables. We weren’t in a rush and ordered appetizers and received them in a reasonable timeframe. Shortly thereafter we ordered dinner. By 10:00 we still did not have our meals. When we finally got our waiters attention, he checked on our food and then sent the manager over who feed us a line of bull about how it takes longer to cook a steak medium-well. We are not New at this game and told him to forget dinner and walked out without eating. We offered to pay for appy but he did not charge us.

I was very disappointed with the service, I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. At first the server seemed cool but after he was like Casper we barely saw him. The worst service I've ever had while I was paying the price I was paying for food. We waited 10min for water, and when were done eating we waited at least a hour for the server to come check on us. We actually had another server start to take card of us. When our original server brought us our check he told us that he was sorry he wasn't able to serve us because he was busy taking shots with another party. I think that's bull I shouldn't of even left him a tip but I did. The food was amazing the steaks were on point but the service lacked to where I won't be back

I try to get to Osso every time I am in town. The starters are large and tasty, but the steaks are the main event. The bone-in ribeye is the biggest steak I have ever eaten. The menu simply describes it as “Big”. That’s so true that I usually skip the starters and the sides

Nice enjoyable spot. The deco is seductive and different, specially around the booth area. Good portions are more that what you expect and plentiful. Apps a delight as well. Bone in filet and NY are the best.

Disappointed with the service - almost 3 hours for a simple dinner. There was a long wait between our appetizers and entrées, and our waiter just disappeared after our entrees were served. Food was fine, and we really appreciated their accommodating our table request. The restaurant is truly old-school but could use updating – our table sloped so much that I was afraid our water carafe would tip over all evening. A trip to the restroom was a little scary and it was really dirty. When I told the hostess, she was surprised, but she shouldn’t have been. A good restaurant knows exactly what the restrooms look like. Still searching for a great steakhouse in SF!

What an amazing steakhouse! Celebrated my guys birthday!! Ordered a petit filet & they "butterflied" it for me which was great! Perfectly cooked(medium well) & juicy! Loved the asparagus soup AND the roasted potatoes!! No need for salt/pepper because everything was seasoned to perfection!! It was pretty pricy...but worth every penny! I will definitely go back & recommend Osso Steakhouse to all my friends!

My party arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait for over 20 minutes. While the manager apologized nothing was offered as consolation. We were not the only people waiting. When we finally got seated we had to wait again for someone to notice us and finally got water about 10 minutes after we sat down when the manager came to our table to explain about the delay in seating. The waiter took our drink order but told us it might take a while due to high activity at the bar that night. Our food arrived promptly and we did enjoy it a lot but our waiter never checked in during the evening. This may have been an off night service wise but I felt neglected. Food was great but at those prices I would expect better service.

For years I told everybody who would listen this is SFs best steakhouse. I like a good steakhouse and seek them out worldwide. Now, though, I’m stunned by the decline and so sad to write this place off. Kindly waiter didn’t know what London Dry Gin was and kept looking at his extremely stupid point of sale handheld order taking contraption. Where did the old school waiters go off to? The wine list was quite wrong, inasmuch as they were terminating half bottles. Apparently “we are reprinting the list Monday” is an excuse for those of us coming on Saturday and spending much time perusing with no prior warning. My dirty martini was clean as a hospital operating room, ok that can happen, request could you guys send over a splash of olive juice? So it did come eventually, maybe 8 ounces of it? Then some guy, who was a nice enough floor boss kind of dude in a surprising light gray suit kept saying it’s a big company what can I do? We have 10 restaurants!
Gawd.
Please please please go to Harris’ instead or for a comparable experience there is always Cheesecake Factory.
I have never left a negative review on a place before. I prefer to keep my misery to myself. But I am the kind of person that wants to warn people before they step in front of a bus. So here I am: STOP don’t go turn around.

Went there for dinner prior to attending a concert at the Masonic (right next door - so VERY convenient). It's a bit pricey... but totally worth it. Despite the 'Steakhouse' in their name, they're known for their Crab (which IS DELICIOUS). Highly recommend eating here.

I was really disappointed in our early evening meal at Osso. My companion is wheelchair bound and we passed many floor tables on our way to the back room. I requested sparkling water it took 15 minutes to get then my friend said she would like a drink as well. The waiter had ignored her when I made my request. Then I had to get his attention again to place our orders- he was only serving 2 other tables of 2. Very disappointing!

This undoubtedly was the worse dining experience I have had in San Francisco and I have lived here for 40 years. I was going to the Masonic to see some music and this restaurant is next door. We ordered the rib eye steak, caesar salad, twice baked potatoes, the cheesy bread, and a crab appetizer. The steak was burned on both sides (not seared). It was tough and uneatable. For a $60 steak it was an incredible disappointment. When the waiter was told our of disgust, he gave us the bill and went to the next table as though this happens all the time. The caesar salad was ok. The twice baked potato consisted of half a potato with some unappealing stuff in it for $9.99. Half a potato for ten dollars is a full baked rip off. The cheese bread consisted of a small, hard sandwich roll in a bunch of fondue cheese. The crab appetizer was excellent but three crackers with crab on it for $18 gives you room to pause at what fool would really pay that much for so little. I do not mind paying big dollars for an excellent meal but to pay big dollars for a poorly prepared meal is an outrage. Our waiter was a condescending man with breath that could have killed the cow that this steak was derived from. Bad food, bad service, waiter with bad breath and a big bill is not my idea of fine dining.

A little expensive, but a predictably high quality dining experience. The deduct to service was having a 2013 vintage on the menu, but swapping 2014. Not a big deal, but should have said so instead of just waiting for me to notice.

We made a reservation at 5:45 and needed to be out by 7:00 for a show at the Masonic. Service was so slow that we didn’t have time for dessert. We had to keep flagging the server down when we needed drinks or the dessert menu. Also, no high end Rosé by the glass?

Second time our order didn't come out as we requested.
First time, we ordered Bone-in New Yorks, but received Bone-in Filet. This time, Steaks ordered medium rare, came out rare. We kept the items both times because we didn't want to wait.
We always order a whole crab, and typically waiter offers to cut sections for us, but not this time.
Wish the restaurant offered steamed vegetables vs. creamed or fried... more healthy options. Other than that, still enjoy the establishment especially since they offer valet parking... in The City. WOW!!!!!

The restaurant was wonderful in all respects. I called earlier in the day and asked if our party of five could be placed in a quiet location due to my 2 month old grandson. The location was perfect. The waiter Sean was attentive along with the rest of the waitstaff and the food was perfectly prepared and great steaks.

Our food and cocktails were delicious, but the night was marred by poor service. For instance, all four of us had starters. They brought 2 and not the other two. We had to complain numerous times for the asparagus soup. They arrived 15 minutes after the other 2 starter were finished and taken away. Our steaks arrived immediately after the soup, which was actually delicious. But we couldn’t eat the soup because we didn’t want our steaks to grow cold. What a shame. Our waiter then basically disappeared. We wanted another bottle of wine, but we were done with our meal by the time he reappeared. We complained and he took the soup off the bill and comped us 2 panna cotta. We each had the petite filet mignon which was outstanding. Buttery. But the service messed up the evening.

Food is phenomenal! Skip all appetizers and just order the chorizo cheese bread, can't go wrong with that. The service was also great. We were being difficult and wanted a booth and the employees happily accommodated. The food is greatly priced considering the quality of food. Would definitely come back again!
