The design of the restaurant is influenced by some of our favourite places to eat and drink, it takes its cues from the street food ‘Hawker’ markets of Penang mixed with the reclaimed building feel of Budapest’s ruin bars. These places both have a magical feel, something that we’ve tried to recreate for the people of Blackpool to enjoy. Penang, Malaysia is an eclectic melting pot of various food styles, with influences from Indonesia, Thailand, India and China, dishes such as soup ramen and stone-baked donburi are two great examples of the depth in flavour, which can be created when different styles come together.Michael Wan's Mandarin

The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.
Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Here we serve our trademark delicious home produced quality food and excellent home brewed ales. I have no issue with the people who served us our food and drinks but I do have issue with the food itself. All our starters were lovely but the mains were very hit and miss. Two of our group ordered the fishcake and poached egg with spinach, I ordered the tortellini and one person ordered the fish and chips. Only the fish and chips was up to standard. Boththe fishcakes were very overcooked and one of the poached eggs was actually hard boiled. My tortellini was inedible. The pasta was far too thick and not fully cooked. I did complain about this when the plates were collected and I was offered another meal to replace it, but I really didn't want to sit and eat another meal when all my friends had eaten theirs. Regarding the fishcake meals, my friends decided they didn't want to make a fuss.
