Diners' Choice Winners: Best Overall
Tacoma's best restaurants based upon thousands of OpenTable diner reviews
My out of town guests were impressed by the eclectic nature of the dining room. We were seated right away at a cozy table. The ambience was perfect for quiet conversation. The crab bisque was exceptional as was the wedge salad and crab cake small plate. The sour dough bread was noteable. The duck breast entree held up to previous rave reviews. The service was flawless. This was the first time at El Gaucho for my wife and I. It definitely will not be our last!! Amazing food and an outstanding dining experience. We loved watching other diners getting the Flaming Sword Tenderloin and the Bananas Foster! All of our food was absolutely amazing and the service we got from Kelly B was top notch. We’ll be back in June for our 21st anniversary for some Flaming Swords!! MoreOpenTable Diner -

Nestled in one of the most livable areas in America, Tacoma is a hub of activity with over 50 parks and open spaces. The 43 bus routes crisscrossing the "City of Destiny" allow for convenient access to the robust food scene here. Many former industrial sites and historic buildings have been converted into restaurants that serve up everything from burgers and shakes to international cuisine and vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes. Complete your meal by stopping by any of the 30 craft breweries extending from the Tacoma waterfront to Downtown Olympia or checking out the specialty coffee houses, some of which enhance their flavor with live music. Of course, you can't leave Tacoma without trying local faves like cedar-planked salmon, fish and chips, or locally grown Rainier cherries.
