Stanley & Seafort's
Stanley and Seafort's. Tacoma's Landmark Dinnerhouse.
The overall experience was great but the price was a little exorbitant.
My father and I enjoyed good-quality food (fresh oysters on the half shell and steaks) for his birthday. I was nervous since my father can be very particular about seafood/freshness. We were not disappointed! The server was very pleasant though maybe slightly preoccupied (Valentine's Day weekend). The only criticism would be that my father was not super thrilled with the brussel sprouts served along side his rib eye; they were rather tough. A vegetable side is minor, though, since clientele come for meat and seafood. Thank you for a good meal!
Stanley and Seafort's has an excellent view. The food and menu are quite good, though a little salty. The menu is old school, not too good on the fresh veges or healthy options, but the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. Steak, lobster, crab, and salmon were all exceptional. Service is good to better. But, the facility itself is old and sad.
I've been going to this restaurant since I was young and it was called Walter Inns. It was very elegant then. It was converted to S&S in the eighties and it doesn't look like it has been updated since. Worn carpets, brass track lighting, soiled ceiling tiles and exceptionally poor lighting take the shine away. It would be easy to update. Tables and chairs are acceptable, but walls, floors and lighting all need updating. Even some of the original elegant features are not being used. For instance, on Valentine's celebration, the once welcoming lobby had lights turned to bright, unlit candles everywhere, and a gas fireplace that was off. With the bright lights, the old finishes were bare for all to see.
S&S is not short on customers. It is always busy, it is hard to get reservations, because the bar is fun, the food is good, the service is good and the view is exceptional. So, it depends on what you want in an experience. I think S&S is a jewel worth polishing. It won't stay that way with the competitive restaurant market in Tacoma. Management needs to get on it before they've lost their chance.
Wonderful atmosphere. Hostess was polite. Waittress was excellent 😄
We did have to wait for them to set our places at the table. We had to comeba half hour later than our scheduled reservation so that was on us not the restaurant.
Our food choices from the menu ranged from Lamb to Chicken to Lobster to Pasta.
There were 7 of us as we were celebrating our Mom's 83rd Birthday.
We were all pleased with our entrees. Even me, I had requested ahead for a Vegan Salad which was enjoyable.
Our waitress even sent Mom home with a slice of Pomegranate Cheesecake which was very kind.
So overall I give 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 5 stars!
Excellent overall experience. Food was good and the service staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
I would recommend the restaurant with the caution that it is seemingly too expensive.
Service was not great. Finished our meal before being offered a second drink. I would not order the clam chowder again. Disappointing overall given my past experiences at S&S.
The steaks are the most tender in all of Tacoma, very good, the best. Portion size on lobster and King crab legs were small as most higher end places. My drink was very weak, I couldn't tell it had alcohol. I should have said something and I'm sure they would have accommodated me but I didn't want to be negative in front of my Valentine date. Overall with tip it came to $250. If price doesn't matter and taste does, better eat at this restaurant overlooking Tacoma and the city lights.
The service was fantastic, very welcoming environment. Food was delicious. The view to the city was amazing. We had an wonderful time.
This was our valentine day dinner. Wow what a wonderful place. Everything was perfect. We will be back for our next special occasion next month. This is our new favorite place.
Everything about this evening was wonderful; the Valentine's menu was excellent and a good value, the service was excellent and of course the atmosphere and view make it over the top!
We were seated right away. Service was very good. The Coho was cooked medium, would have liked medium rare. The Filet was cooked perfect. The clam chowder seemed to be missing something as last time they presented with bowl with pancette then would pour the soup over it. Great Service.
I made a reservation for a window seat. Upon arrival there was no window seat available. The food was unseasoned and seemed to be put together very sloppily. I ordered steak medium rare, the steak unseasoned, was burned to a crisp on the outside, and the inside was completely raw. The potatoe puffs were cold on the inside. Cooks need to put in a better effort. For the price I payed it was not worth it at all and I was very disappointed. The waitress was very kind though.
Did not disappoint for a Valentine's meal for two. The Porterhouse and Macadamia nut Brie were amazing. The Salmon was very good as well however, we did not care for the Asian inspired lobster sauce. The lobster pieces were a little overcooked (rubbery) and the sauce had way too much anise flavor. The server was very attentive and ensured we were well taken care of. Overall we really enjoyed the meal, service, and ambiance. 4 stars only because of the lobster sauce.
Service was excellent everyone was so accommodating. We went for a birthday and that was the first thing that they said happy birthday!. They were very attentive the service was great the food was great although it was a little on the expensive side. We will definitely go back.
We have always enjoyed dining at Stanley's. We went there to celebrate Valentines dinner and I had my heart set on Rock Salt Prime Rib. We were enticed to get the Valentines special $125 for a couple. It was a good value, however I left wishing I had chosen my Prime Rib. Service is always GREAT! The hostess accommodated our wishes. Steak was chewy, but good flavor.
I love this place for the view, the service and the food. Great view of the city, service is attentive but not intrusive and the food is always good. Of course it's also nostalgic since I've been coming here since I was a kid.
Little overpriced for the quality of food, a little disappointed but will return for the view.
Very good value! Recommend to friends all the time
It was an amazing experience! The food is always top notch, we got a window seat with an amazing view of downtown and the water, the drinks were amazing, and the waitress was at tentative without being overbearing. I had a reservation for 8:15 and wasn’t seated until after 8:30, although it was Valentine’s Day and was extremely busy which is understandable. The prime rib was absolutely delicious and my girlfriend had the peppercorn New York steak that was also extremely good! They are pretty pricey but you are paying for an excellent experience with great food.
Our server was awesome and even though the restaurant was packed because of Valentine’s Day, we had a good experience and didn’t feel rushed at all. We got seated on time and all of our food came quickly. It was all delicious. Their fixed menu is pretty classic but I feel like their fresh sheet is where they excel. Their are always some great meals on there. I got the scallops and risotto this time and it was out of this world.
I did not like being put way in the back where it was cold. The waiter gentleman was very nice and turned up the heat. It heloed a bit.
Stake order was messed up, im glad they at least took care of that, and stake I ordered was not that good, their fish dishes are much better
Great food, atmosphere and dining experience, as always!
Delicious food and great service. Made our Valentine’s Day dinner very special.
For a high priced restaurant....I was not impressed...first of all...we had a 4:15 reservation..when we got there the tables by the window were half vacant..I requested a window and the "hostest" (rename her because she wasn't a host!!) said they weren't available...I recall you couldn't reserve a window seat when I made reservations!! I am sure it was because I didn't look the part of your "high class" people you reserve the prime seats for..
The view reflected the entire dining experience: all encompassing and profoundly satisfying.
Wonderful food great service great atmosphere lovely place for dinner on valentines night very romantic
Great food, great service, in a great property. The prime rib is always fantastic. My wife had the chicken tortellini and that had a very good sauce.
Wow! We eat out a lot, so for me to say this is means a lot. It was our best meal out ever. Better food and service, than even other nice places like the Ritz in Paris, or Ruth Chris in Seattle and others in New York. We had the wine and dine special and we totally enjoyed it all
Everything was great about my dinner here. The food was fresh and delicious, and the view of downtown Tacoma was beautiful.
Great place to have a date. Service was excellent, food was great, desert heavenly!
Our server Jose was very friendly and attentative. We asked about a brief history of the restaurant and he was very informative and created a very relax hospitable environment for my wife and I.
Everything was wonderful until A 3 year old child was seated at the table behind us. I specifically requested that we sit by no children as we have raised 5 & I only take my wife out once a year. The child was taking pictures of patrons in the restaurant. I spent $280 on my dinner and could not hear my wife due to the noise tantrums. I would have moved tables but when they were seated we already had a whole table of food. Please don’t mistake this review as us not liking children because obviously we do or we would not of had 5 children. I will go back to the restaurant but next time I will be making my arrangements with the manager. Mr Beiermann
one of our fav's this is where we went after our wedding
Service was excellent . Food just the way we like it and as ordered . Enjoyed the birthday treat for my husband as a surprise . We will be back soon .
Gorgeous views, great service, excellent taste in food. But somehow the price was so high for two people but $165. But or it was a wonderful dining experience it was great for my husband’s birthday. Thank you so much
This has been our go-to restaurant for special occasions for years. Service was a little slower than usual but I suspect that due to snow and questionable road conditions, they may have been, understandably, a bit short-staffed. Service was the only area at all lacking and usually our service experience is great.
The bathrooms need to be updated and better cared for. No soap and no hand towels to dry off and they are way too tiny.
