The word Acanto is the Italian translation of Acanthus, the flowery leaf featured prominently in Roman architecture. Famed architect Louis Sullivan used Acanthus in his distinctive terra cotta ornamentation found on the facade of the historically-landmarked building that houses Acanto.
Our authentic yakiniku (grilled barbeque) dining experience crowns you the chef. For our weekday pre-theatre diners, we highly suggest you are seated by 6:15pm to ensure the dinner experience standards we pride ourselves on. On Saturdays, we highly suggest by 6:45pm. During shows, reservation time slots fill up fast, if you don't see any time frames you are looking for, try giving us a call.
Unfortunately, we cannot take reservations for drinks, desserts or appetizers only.
We offer a grace period of 15 minutes. If you arrive after the 15-minute grace period, even with a phone call, you may be placed on the wait list, simply to be fair to all guests.
The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
