Exceptional food, and exceptional service from our server, Blair. Great views of the river as well. Management stopped by to inquire how our meal was. The only bad experience we had was with one of the bartenders. We had a drink at the bar prior to moving to a table for dinner. The bartender was not at all personable or friendly. The drinks were initially served in dirty glasses; rather than make new ones after we pointed this out to him, he retrieved two new glasses, wiped them clean with a towel, and poured our drinks into the new glasses from the dirty glasses (not very hygienic!). Also, he got the order wrong. We asked for Grey Goose straight up with a twist, but on the first sip realized vermouth had been added (we did not specify we wanted martinis - vodka straight up is not the same as a martini). He remade the drinks, but they were noticeably considerably smaller than the ones he first made, as if in "retaliation" for our pointing out his error (and too warm, although they were stirred briefly in ice). That was indeed a turn off , and we were ready to leave the restaurant after that. Further, when we were at our table having dinner later on, and the waiter serving the people seated next to us said "oh, I'll give you a double, no extra charge!" when they ordered their drinks - that was kind of a slap in the face). But, we're glad we stayed for dinner, which made up for that bad experience. Very fresh ingredients, perfectly sized portions, and did not disappoint! We will likely return, as the food was exceptional and well worth it (a bit pricey, and it would have been nice if our original drink "ordeal" had been compensated for, considering we ordered a bottle of wine priced at three figures with dinner). But, we will avoid the bar on our next visit. I've worked as a bartender before, and being personable and not having an attitude is VERY IMPORTANT! More

Discover Southwest Waterfront

The Southwest Waterfront of the Washington Channel from Fisherman's Wharf to Fort McNair is a prime location offering restaurants and nightly live entertainment. The waterfront is evolving into 3 million square feet of residences, offices, restaurants, and retail stores. The Fish Market Eatery, established in 1805, serves freshly caught blue crabs and other seafood, vegetables, and desserts with a "monumental view" of our nation's capitol. Restaurants and grills on the Channel evolved from family-owned multimillion dollar seafood packers. You're also surrounded by international cuisine. French, Indian, and Italian cafes and bistros bake bread and cut homemade pasta on their premises for authentic old world flavor. Wines of the world compliment your entrée and your choice of dessert.
