Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine. The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

Fantastic service, great meal. Started at the bar as we arrived earlier than our reservation but they were able to seat us quickly. Servers were excellent. Appetizers of oysters, escargot and lobster mac and cheese were all fantastic. Probably the least notable part of the meal was the bread, which was fresh and plentiful but unremarkable. Wine was reasonably priced and entrees were tasty and well prepared. The baked alaska dessert was fantastic and a perfect topper for the meal. We will definitely return.

This was a perfect dining experience. The food was incredible and the drinks were strong and quick to the table. Tom, our server, was perhaps the best server I have had and I have dined all around the United States and in many large cities across the world. He was beyond pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and engaging. He added to the total experience. When next in New Orleans, we will certainly be back for MORE! Thanks for an amazing evening!

The martinis were ice cold and on point. The crawfish buttered bread , shrimp and grits, and bread pudding were all some of the best things I have put in my mouth!

We had such an amazing brunch here. Food was excellent, service was fantastic, and most of all, it was so friendly for our two and four year olds. All the servers were friendly and kind, they had great options for the kids, and the food was delicious (and the little ones gave their meals two thumbs up). It was fine dining, which was nice for us parents, but not stuffy so we did not feel like our children were unwelcome. Cannot sing their praises enough and look forward to coming back next time we visit!
