Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

    The food and service at Shaya is excellent. We are vegetarians so we appreciated finding good veggie food in New Orleans. The freshly baked pita bread-baked on site-is the best pita bread I have ever had! I would highly recommend this restaurant!

    Truly outstanding dining experience every time we visit! Our cocktails were perfect, and our food was beyond delicious! Both our server and the bartender had lovely personalities and gave us top-notch service, from creating off-menu cocktails based on our preferences to asking the chef to switch things up a bit for our entree. Everything about La Petite Grocery is done so well that we will be back every time we are in New Orleans.

    We are regulars and remain amazed at the quality of food and the wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful waitstaff. This is fast becoming our goto spot for a casual and reliable dining experience. Our waiter, Jonathan, was a sheer delight, he was engaging and took care of our every need and believe me we were needy diners. He responded with a great attitude and smile. In fact, we have always had fantastic service, hats off to Superior Seafood, they know how to hire great personnel and obviously train them to perfection. We will return again and again.

    Our waitress, Heather-Dawn, was very pleasant and gave us a run down of the menu as we were dining here for the first time. The gumbo was excellent and food was delicious as well. Their top 3 recommended entree was as follows: lowcountry shrimp & grits, pan-seared gulf fish, and the chili-rubbed 14oz Berkshire pork chop. Our table had a blue cheese flan and folks who had it rated it highly. If I’m in the area, I’d go back again.
