The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon adheres to a similar message. In the kitchen, we value the fashion from scratch details as small as the aiolis and dressings we use, to the housemade desserts and pastries, cured and smoked meats, and naturally fermented pickles. Behind the bar, we strive for innovation and discovery from our unique and inspiring cocktails. We work within the seasons of the Blue Ridge to present a deliberate and thoughtful menu. We love the intentional, the specific, the well-cared-for. Respectively, our market offers a unique selection of local goods and treats. From our featured cloister honey to housemade single origin chocolates, we present the craft and exceptionality of local, artisanal talent.

The Art of Living Retreat Center, a 381-acre mountaintop campus boasting spectacular views, has been dedicated to health and well-being since it opened in 2012. The Purna Dining Hall has provided thousands of guests with nourishing and nutritional vegetarian foods carefully and mindfully prepared and selected. We offer self-serve, buffet-style dining with a vegetarian menu that changes daily. Ayurvedic principles tell us to eat nature—real food grown by sun, soil, wind, and water that is full of nature’s prana, or life force. Chef Sean Sigmon and his staff know this, and they know that food prepared with love for the planet and for the person being fed is the best food. We grow a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs right here in our own gardens, and the rest we source organic, seasonal, and local whenever we can. Join us at the Center for a nourishing meal—combined with the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s a feast for the eyes and the belly.
