Got dinner before a show on Friday night. The restaurant was pretty full, but we were served very quickly. Food was quite good.

We both had the tasing menu with wine pairing, so it was very expensive and thus difficult to call good value regardless of the wonderful food and service, but we knew what we would be paying at the outset. The food was beautifully presented and tasty. The wines were good and appropriately paired with the food. They were more expensive wines than we would normally buy to drink at home, so that did contribute to good value. The pace of service was appropriate. There was noise--partly due to two events happening in private rooms, and partly due to a baby constantly making horrific sounds. That, of course, was not the restaurant's fault, but it did adversely affect the value of the evening for us. We had a similar experience at another restaurant on New Year's Eve, so this is presumably what one must endure when out for an adult celebratory dinner these days. I wonder if infants and toddlers were in attendance on Valentine's Day as well. Also, there were many empty tables, so I was curious as to why the restaurant would seat 3 dignified couples (not us fortunately) close to the family with its blatant disregard for the advertised dress code (smart casual, not lumberjack chic) and the experience of their fellow diners. My husband likes music while dining. There was music playing, but it could not be heard due to the background noise. Service was impeccable, though the server who brought the various courses was difficult to understand. That made me wonder why that person was chosen for that particular job. I do want to praise Matt, whom I know to be a new hire. He was very pleasant and efficient--a good addition to the waitstaff. The Maitre d' / Sommelier was similarly pleasant and knowledgeable.
