Great views, great food and wonderful service. I would highly recommend it.
we love this place - we always get a great meal. A favorite dining spot after a show at the Opera House.
To enter the restaurant you need to come in through the Equinox Health Club. You then take an elevator up to the 5th floor and pass through some sort of snack bar arrangement that looks like it should be in a not very busy airport. After all this you enter a very nice restaurant with a romantic view of a portion of the theater district. Lights are low, music is soft, food was very good as was the service. We went on a whim, as it was in walking distance of our hotel and were pleasantly surprised. All in all, a really nice experience, that was a grace note for our post Valentine’s Day weekend in Boston.
The only drawback is that the view is not particularly attractive.
The restaurant and service was amazing
We were there Valentine’s Day and the service and food were exceptional. Because it was busy we waited a bit for the check but a great night out
We absolutely love Blu, and this time was no exception! The food was outstanding; the service with Rogerio was attentive, personable, and professional; and we had a glorious view!
I made a reservation a week in advance for 6.00 on Saturday night pre theater.
When we got to the restaurant it was pretty empty; it filled up much later. We were greeted by a hostess with a real attitude. She first seated us at a table that was practically in the entrance way. When we didn't accept this table she seated us in the bar where my husband was bumped throughout the meal by people getting on an off bar stools.
At the time that she seated us there were at least half a dozen tables for two at the windows where we would have enjoyed the dining experience. The restaurant didn't really start filling up until 6.30. The excuse can't be made that these tables were reserved because we had a reservation. I have been to Blu at least five times but I won't be going back. I would rather spend my hard earned money at a restaurant that knows how to treat customers and Blu certainly isn't it .
First timers. Just found it in a search. Best restaurant in a long time. Menu is nice but chef is very talented
Hidden setting behind Equinox Athletics on 4th floor, 4 Avery St, Boston. Calming atmosphere with dimmed blue lighting. Kai was wonderful, very attentive to our needs, and especially making sure we would finish in time to attend an evening show nearby. Scallops with Lobster Risotto melts in your mouth. Shrimp Scampi with Linguini in light sauce exceptional. Texture & taste of accompanying pasta sides are definitely homemade. Chocolate creme brûlée set in chocolate cake made the dessert selection well worth every mouth watering bite!
Fantastic food, service and views. Get the diver scallops, it comes with lobster risotto and it’s amazing
My cod was over cooked. Otherwise, excellent. Great waiter.
Neat view. Duck was amazing! Old Fashion was good, but probably not worth the price.
A wonderful restaurant with a beautiful view. Perfect place to eat either before or after the theater.
This is a wonderful place. Atmosphere, food, service all terrific.
Excellent food and cooked to perfection.
The waiter was attentive and friendly.
Nice view of the theater marquis on Washington St,
Perfect location for my husband's birthday dinner before the show. Lovely view, great food, nice service.
We did get lucky and were seated at a great table with view (some tables have obstructed view), but regardless, the dishes were done perfectly. Tuna tartare, cod, pasta dish were made with nothing I'd wish to change. Service high class. Our visit was early evening without large
The food was excellent and the service was great. The ambience was wonderful
I will surely recommend this place to others.
I was referred by a colleague and man was I blown away. Blu restaurant is a hidden gem! It was a memorable experience and the ambiance definitely makes Top 5 amongst Boston restaurants. The glass windows and "blu" lights compliments the historic Paramount sign that lights up the street and restaurant. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our food. I enjoyed the Grilled Swordfish and Lobster Mash Potatoes, while my girlfriend devoured the Bone-In Slow Cooked Beef Short Rib with squash and sweet potato. It made an overall perfect birthday dinner that I'm sure she'll never forget.
Nice restaurant, easy walk from hotel. Fish overcooked, food average and therefore, overpriced.
Had a wonderful pre-theater meal at Blu. Menu choices were excellent. Staff was attentive. Decor was chic! Will definitely revisit for the next theater event!!
Excellent restaurant! Would go back in a second. Food was delicious. I had sirloin amd others had lamb. Outstanding! Service was excellent and the atmosphere is stunning.
Great atmosphere- excellent food- service was very nice- will definitely come back soon
The night time view overlooking Washington Street was beautiful. I chose this venue because we wan't a convenient eatery near the Emerson Paramount Theater. Both of my friends thoroughly enjoyed their dinners and drinks and felt the atmosphere was somewhat magical. It was not jam packed at 6pm before the weekday show. That probably contributed to the nice experience. We were surprised that it is on the same floor with an athletic club and there is a more casual eatery near the entrance.
I hate going to a restaurant and having the server tell you that half the desserts on the dessert menu they don't have
My friend and I both ordered the kale salad, she added shrimp and I the salmon as we are trying to eat healthier for the new year. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the meals. My salmon was a generous portion and perfectly cooked with seared skin and tender middle. Also the focaccia bread with olive oil was fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable. The view down the theater district lovely. Plus as Equinox members we get a 20% discount which was a nice surprise. Next time I want to try one of the hot entrees since the menu has an excellent selection of fish and meats.
wonderful tasty food with superb service. A bit hard to find (4th floor of multi-door location). bit casual and I loved my experience here. waiter was knowledgeable and helpful and right-on! each bite of the food made my eyes roll with pleasure. Great fun time for a romantic duo. tables bit close together and noisy room but everyone was having a grand time and atmosphere was joyous. I heartily recommend!
This was our 2nd trip to Blu for pre-theater dinner. The view from the restaurant looking down on Washington Street is awesome. All teh tables have a window view, its really nice. The service and food was outstanding again. We tried the Blu Tapas plate for an appetizer which gave us a nice sampling. The swordfish and the scallops were excellent. It is quiet and makes having conversations easy. I would definitely recommend Blu and ensure you make a reservation !
We loved this place. Service, food and ambiance were all terrific. Great street views from high above in a relaxing, yet really interesting setting. Definitely a new go-to place.
Great menu for casual or a special night out. View from the floor to ceiling windows are spectacular. Service is impeccable!
Nice atmosphere. Good food. I would return
Found waitress and waiters a bit rude, like not placing the plate properly on the table, the waitress just pretty much drop the plate in front of you without even looking where she was putting it, my daughter’s wasn’t completely on the table and the waitress almost hit my daughter with the plate and she didn’t even realized it. Also, the waiters takes the plates, gives water refills across the table, which I find rude. In addition, they also don’t check on you after they give you your food. They tend to be nicer and more attended 20 minutes before your check.
Blu has one of the nicest restaurant atmospheres in Boston. The truffle fries were the highlight of my meal. Service was quick and attentive. Will come back again.
I had a good time at the restaurant the food was good. I put in a special request for a birthday dessert and did get the request I put in. I don’t know if the restaurant doesn’t provide those services but I thought since it asked for special request I could get it.
One of the best views in Downtown Crossing . Went there before a show and the remained very conscious of the time. The wine list is loaded with excellent value and the dishes are wonderful. will definitely be returning.
We've enjoyed apps and drinks at the lovely bar overlooking the theaters on Washington St. Beautiful view at night- we requested a table overlooking that view when we returned for dinner with several family and friends. The food was excellent- scallops with lobster risotto was wonderful, as was the perfectly cooked cod dish. Drinks were excellent, both before and after dinner for dessert. We had attentive service from Val who provided assistance on food and wine choices and was a pleasure to interact with.
View of a concrete building, not the green. The restaurant seems like an add-on to the gym snack bar that you pass through on the way in. Reviews led us to expect more of a special occasion venue.
I was disappointed by the atmosphere here...the fact that you have to walk through a health club cafe to get to the restaurant. When we arrived at the maitre d stand, no one was there and it was quite a wait for someone to show up and take us to our table. While the food was good, the service was meh. I won't go back.
