Stoneground Italian is located downtown in a second-story loft overlooking the architecturally acclaimed Salt Lake City Public Library. Since opening in 2000, owner Bob McCarthy has been cooking up a dining experience that’s warm, welcoming and firmly planted in his Irish-Italian roots. He takes a simple approach to serving delicious food: always fresh and house-made.
The environment at Stoneground is cool and casual; some describe it as a rustic/urban vibe. You’ll feel comfortable dressed as you are. The window tables have mesmerizing views and are ideal for intimate dining occasions. The outdoor deck seats about 40-people and is the go-to spot for your fair weather celebrations. We had an appointment and showed up early. They couldn’t have treated us better when we showed up quickly had a table ready for us and sat us at a beautiful table that was ready for our anniversary dinner. The staff that waited on us at our table were wonderful and were quickly taking care of all of our needs. It was a wonderful meal and a wonderful night. I would recommend this place to anyone headed to dinner.

I have not dined recently at Bambara given my home location. However, I will definitely make a greater effort to go downtown to eat there. Everything was outstanding: the wait staff, the food, and the ambience. Bravo to the owners who have continued to offer a consistently great dining experience. A bonus to our visit last night, however, was the lower than usual noise level…and high energy (which I appreciate some of the time … but not all the time!

First, my husband and I arrived early. We were able to be seated and enjoyed a beautiful evening on the patio. Ayden was our server and he was fantastic. He made wonderful recommendations and knew the menu well. Ayden went over and above to make sure that we were pleased with our choices, even exchanging a cocktail that turned out to be a little too sweet for me. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the sea scallop appetizer, enjoyed the Penne Pasta and Gnocchi (which melted in your mouth). We could not finish our pastas as we wanted to try the dessert. We ordered the Hazelnut Mousse Cake and it was divine! Thank you for a wonderful dinner and experience at Caffe Molise!
