Discover Prairieville
Prairieville, just southeast of Baton Rouge, is a tenacious community that has survived everything from destructive storms to catastrophic floods. The spirit of Southern Louisiana lives on through parades, parties, music, and savory cuisine. With the Gulf of Mexico close by, Prairieville chefs have access to a lot of fresh seafood. Boiled crawfish and chargrilled oysters are staples in the area restaurants. You can eat them at a sports bar while you watch the big game or a local hangout where a live band is playing. If you prefer international flavors, then try the local Greek and Lebanese fare or some authentic Mexican food. The most popular desserts in town include Mississippi mud pie and French Creole bananas foster. After your meal, take a drive past Phillips Farm for a glimpse of a notable farmhouse lined with live oaks and an old-fashioned white planked fence.
