Fitzrovia
Fitzrovia is an eclectic, bohemian neighborhood. It’s the place to discover the street art of Banksy, and the museum of zoology. This mix of influences echoes the creativity of the menu at Roka. There’s a full range of some of the best sushi in London, from classic California to the more inventive piripiri maki. There’s even a full vegan tasting menu. Always busy and for good reason, Roka is a popular destination for birthdays and other celebrations.

Food and service were really good as always, weekday lunch is great value. I have never seen Roka so quiet on a Friday though so very little atmosphere which was a shame

The unusually named Flesh & Buns is right in the middle of Fitzrovia, a few minutes’ walk from shops, museums, and some of London’s gorgeous gardens. The Flesh is meat, seafood, and veg, and the Buns are "steamed bao" with a variety of fillings. The Japanese flavors keep on coming with an enormous raw and maki menu, including plenty of vegetarian options. Guests love the service and atmosphere of this well-placed sushi joint.

Soho
Head just a little bit off Shaftesbury Avenue into Soho to find this "Western Japanese" gem. As is the trend in many modern Asian restaurants, Japanese flavors meld with more Western ideas, culminating in menu options like salmon tacos with shiso avocado, or pulled lamb with kimchee sauce. The one thing that remains pretty traditional is the maki selection, so those craving a California roll aren't disappointed.

Soho
Soho is the trendy spot in London to enjoy music, comedy, and even some amazing sushi. Inamo is a futurist venture where diners order food from a virtual tablecloth. Menus are "beamed" digitally onto the table, and after choosing their favorites, guests can watch the "chef cam" to see the food preparation. There are even video games available for the easily bored. The food is just as exciting, with diners particularly praising Inamo’s dragon roll. Don't miss this unique experience.

The entire team at Inamo – Soho was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The service was smooth, well-paced, and thoughtful throughout. As for the food — it was absolutely delicious! Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. You can tell real care goes into both the preparation and the experience. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Liverpool Street
Set on the 38th and 39th floors of the imposing Salesforce Tower, Sushisamba offers incredible views across Spitalfields and Essex. From the right spot, diners might be able to catch glimpse of Alexandra Palace on a clear day. Even the elevator trip to the restaurant is a panoramic experience. The menu here is a fusion of Brazilian and Japanese cuisine, so expect taquitos and plantain alongside tempura and gyoza. Dedicated sashimi fans adore the raw menu, or there are Japanese grill options for the less adventurous.

I received a recommendation from a friend to celebrate my birthday, and I was literally surprised by such quality: in service (by Ana's impeccable service), the extremely delicious food and the breathtaking atmosphere.

The original Maze, Gordon Ramsay’s range of restaurants aiming for fine dining in casual settings, is set in the heart of one of London’s most affluent and celebrity-filled boroughs. Hotels and spas rub shoulders with top restaurants, so it’s no surprise this is a good place to hunt down some succulent sushi. Maze on Mayfair shines on a Sunday when diners can enjoy the bottomless sushi bar with a glass of fine champagne, and maybe spot a famous face or two.

Soho
An experience quite unlike any other, Chef Paul Greening has created a Japanese urban farm, growing ingredients never seen in Britain before. This takes the phrase "farm-to-table" to a whole new level, as the tasting menu offers dishes created from ingredients literally grown on the premises. The three course "home-grown" menu includes Osaka style sushi, with salmon, avocado, and mizuna. Pair these flavors with the opulent setting of this Regent Street venue, and it’s clear to see why this is one of London’s top Japanese restaurants.
