We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

From the moment I walked in I knew my experience would be special. The attention was fabulous, the decor beautiful. The wine pairings helpful with my choices, however i did have a delicious fleurrie to accompany my beef. One of the best meals I have had, outstanding.

Lovely family meal. Sticky soy pork cheeks were excellent as were the other starters, scallops, burrata, crab. The mains were beautifully presented, sea bass cooked to perfection. The children thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Although quite expensive it was worth it.

My two daughters booked this for us all for Mother’s Day…..I had been before but they hadn’t. On arrival they both said what a great setting it was and how nice the staff were…..then the food came out! They were amazed at the content, presentation and the level of service we received. The food was awesome. The breakfast cocktail was also amazing! We were even able to sit outside for our coffee as the weather was very kind to us and we enjoyed the fabulous view. As always, great service and delicious food at The Kara. They had a live singer at the front of the restaurant, and we were at the back so it wasn't too loud. The food was perfect, generous sized portions, I don't think I've ever managed to finish a meal there! Would recommend, and would return especially as it's local.

Ognisko is a little hidden treasure near the museums of South Kensington. We had a delightful meal after visiting the V&A. The set menu was delicious and the service was great. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks you!

We always have a wonderful time lunching at this restaurant. Staff in the restaurant are wonderfully charming and attentive. Staff in the bar are normally equally as good but failed on this occasion in the bad service delivered. Barman was selective in terms of the service he delivered. It's a real shame. This needs addressed before he spoils the great reputation of this wonderful restaurant.

We always have a wonderful time lunching at this restaurant. Staff in the restaurant are wonderfully charming and attentive. Staff in the bar are normally equally as good but failed on this occasion in the bad service delivered. Barman was selective in terms of the service he delivered. It's a real shame. This needs addressed before he spoils the great reputation of this wonderful restaurant.

The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.
