How it works

1. Sign up to participate

Anyone in the restaurant industry is eligible to participate. Just tell us a bit about yourself and your restaurant. We’ll use this information to match you with relevant research studies.

2. Participate in a study

If a study aligns with your profile, we’ll reach out via email with details about the research topic and activity. Most research sessions can be completed remotely from your computer or mobile device. There will also be opportunities for in-person participation.

3. Receive a thank you gift

Most studies will include a digital thank you gift for your participation. Choose from a variety of gift cards or donate to select charities.

Frequently asked questions

Anyone working in the restaurant industry is eligible to participate, even if you’re not currently using OpenTable.

Once you accept an invitation, we’ll send you the details on how to join in. You may be invited to the following types of studies:

Remote: Activities like surveys, usability tests, and interviews that can be done on a computer or mobile device.
In-person: Activities such as focus groups, panel discussions, and on-site restaurant visits.

You’ll be asked to share your honest thoughts and feedback – no preparation is necessary. Our goal is to listen and learn from your experience.

Typically, sessions range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the activity.

We’ll match you with studies that best fit your profile based on the details you’ve provided in the sign-up form.

You’ll receive an email with information about the research topic, session type, dates, and other relevant details. If you choose to participate, there will be a link to select a time. Declining an invitation won’t affect your eligibility for future studies.

While most studies include a digital thank you gift, certain exclusions apply, such as Field Study and Beta Program participation. The invitation email will clearly state if a gift is included for the study and the amount. Digital thank you gifts are generally sent via email within 5 business days after completion.

We will only contact you via email to provide you with information about research opportunities and will use your information and feedback during research activities for our internal research and development purposes.
