Innovative, flavorful and seasonal flavors. Each bite was flavorful and the soothing upscale modern ambience added to the overall experience
Great meal great service. They gave a handwritten card to my significant other for her birthday which everyone acknowledged it was her birthday, yet the card said Happy Anniversary. The details are what makes a meal great or exceptional. I’ve eaten here numerous times and was disappointed in that lack of detail as it minimized her special day.
I have loved this restaurant from the first time I went many years ago. The Parmesan Benedict on the brunch menu is excellent! I could drink that parm. sauce with a straw! Had the Arugala, date, blue cheese salad w/ almond dressing- delicious. My only criticism would be the chairs. You can't sit back in them, or you'd be on the floor! Not good if you have back problems, like me.
First time out in a real restaurant since the COVID-19 started. Things couldn’t have been better, nice weather, great table and service and the food was awesome. Also had some excellent wine.
Service and wine were impeccable. Can't wait to go back!
I loved this place! I can’t wait to go back again. Great experience!
Great brunch menu, phenomenal presentation and the desserts are excellent.
Wonderful menu of exceptionally well crafted dishes. Excellent service from a friendly and professional team of servers. Warm inviting ambiance in the dining room. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and I cannot think of a better Denver restaurant for a special occasion. We love this restaurant!
One of my favorites places. Love the oopsie daisy, beet salad, scallops, biscuits and Japanese dessert. Long day of exercising to burn off all those calories but worth it. Delish!
The service was a bit slow to start with, but once it was realized that we had been waiting for 15 minutes before anyone came over, the rest of the meal was terrific! The food was excellent as always. Consistently, one of my favorite restaurants.
Wonderful restaurant for a special occasion. Our anniversary dinner was memorable. We both had the tasting menu. We had been here years ago and had forgotten how good the food was.
I had a great experience there with friends. The staff was great great and attentive and the food was amazing! I will definitely go back.
Absolutely outstanding! My date had the spicy salad with wagyu beef and I had the seaweed salad with seared tuna. We were both VERY pleased. I'm sorry I hadn't been there before. Will absolutely be going back. Preferably to try the dinner menu in the evening.
The lamb burger is back on the menu - happy days!
Outstanding food and service. The best restaurant in Denver.
Great service and the restaurant felt very inviting
While this restaurant has a premier location on Larimer St, the food and service lacked. Husband ordered the steak and it was a terrible cut of meat - very chewy even when ordered medium rare. Server was not attentive or patient with questions I had regarding a dairy allergy and what dishes would work. She seemed put off to have to inquire with the chef. Would not dine here again.
The tables were well spaced and everything was quite nice. Unfortunately, two entrées that were ordered (beef and lamb) were tough and not very tasty—definitely not up to par. Hopefully aberrations for a usually superior restaurant.
We always enjoy Rioja. They are one of very few restaurants that serve bread.... and it’s especially good bread at that. The menu is simple and the choices are varied.
Always the place we go for special occasions because it is always perfect.
The best! The wait staff was wonderful!
Best choice we could have made for a romantic date night!
Awesome food and presentation
Amazing food! Wish they had the AC on inside- we got warm in there near the kitchen. Service was excellent.
We enjoyed every course and good service and will return again. It is not inexpensive but nice for a special occasion!
The lunch menu is terrible. We wanted the bread, picnic basket, entree selections, etc... Can get Ramen anywhere. We went down the street to another place. Let us know when you are Rioja again.
Sister weekend and birthday
My girlfriend and I were celebrating my sixteenth year sober from fruit addiction. I had eaten fruits my entire life. Never stopped. Bananas. Blueberries. I’d fiend for them during the day, often scratching while I listened to Smash Mouth.
Anyway, the duck was fantastic.
I brought my wife here for an easy meal before an Avs game. The service was really quick (we had a reservation for 5pm). We started with a ‘Rabbit Two Ways’ appetizer - it tasted fine, but not noteworthy...a lot like grilled chicken, definitely not worth getting again. Our main entrees were the Artichoke Tortellini and the Wagu Tri Tip Steak. Both meals were fantastic tasting! We both ordered the half portions and were surprised at how small the portion was for the tortellini - all-in-all, there were about eight pieces of tortellini 😳. The half portion of Wagu was great. The Wagu came with a skewer of portobello mushrooms and red cabbage. The skewer was amazingly delicious with just a hint, or tease of a kick of spicy-ness 🌶. I ordered my steak “medium well”, but it came to me “medium rare”...but, still delicious in its wine reduction sauce.
I would definitely come back to Rioja, my wife and I lived every single bite.
Notes for next time: Order two “full” portions of the Artichoke Tortellini, and skip the Wagu. 😊
Absolutely delish! The appetizers were quite delectable. My friends and I spilt three of them. The "bacon" was tasty, but misleading. It was very tender and not bacon-y in the traditional sense. The scallops were perfectly cooked and fresh. To make my dinner complete, blue cheese stuffed olives in my Kettle One dirty martini. Need I say more?
food was great, but pretty expensive. Service was a bit slow. Great ambience!
Service was incredible. Food was great. Bacon - 5 stars. Tortellini 5 stars Wagyu tri-tip 3 stars (very chewy) cloud cake - 5 stars. Would come back again to order something other than wagyu.
Food was great and the outdoor seating was nice and warm. We waited close to ten minutes for initial service, but were well attended after our waiter arrived.
rioja remains a favorite because they always deliver exceptional food
The area away from the bar not much ambiance. The food was excellent but the octopus was a little dry.
Consistently excellent food and service. This was our first visit since the worst of the pandemic, and we were pleased to find the same wonderful food and top notch service as before. Pork belly starter remains a special treat, as does the bread tray. Grilled octopus was an excellent entree. Tables are spaced somewhat further apart than before the pandemic to comply with current regulations, which brings the noise level sown.
Has to be one of the most delicious brunches in Denver by far. The service was fantastic as well. It was way chillier than expected in their tent, but the staff ensured we were comfortable (brought us blankets for our legs, moved the heater closer to us). Can’t wait to go back!
Felt very safe eating inside, tables were well spaced and comfortable. We enjoyed brunch and love the Dojo Bowl selections. Cocktails were excellent and the food is always very tasty. The donuts with strawberry and rhubarb were really excellent as an appetizer, much better than they sound! The avocado toast is always spectacular. We were hosted by Rebecca who did a great job of looking after us and the good thing booking an early Bruch was that we had time to talk to her and go through her menu recommendations, all of which we would choose again. It was not our first time here and we will be back. Please Denver, keep Larimer Square closed to traffic, it's so much more pleasant!
Rioja has the best brunch we’ve ever had. The ambiance was chic but not intimidating, the service was super friendly and warm (no pretentiousness at all!) and most importantly, the food was outstanding. We had the Hangover Cure, Rioja Benedict, Pork Belly and the Ramen and one was tastier than the next. The mimosas and beignets were absolutely delicious as well. Went with my sisters and my 7 yr old son and the host, server and owner were so kind and gracious to all of us. Seriously the most delicious food ever!!
