An absolutely amazing experience. We had a party of 6, one of which has a glutton allergy. We all ordered the unlimited dinner experience. All of us could not have been more delighted from start to finish. The service was prompt, as well as personable and professional. The cuisine went from outstanding to out of this world. Just when you would try a dish with the thought, “this will be my favorite,” the next dish would arrived and was even better. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Ambar Capitol Hill. I guarantee you and your entire party will not be disappointed.

Happy hour dumplings were tasty, fillings tasted good and were fried/steamed well but some were a little understuffed and doughy. Happy hour deal makes it pretty worth. Cocktails were really really good (half price for happy hour). Favorite was definitely the mousse a la peche, the foam was super tasty and the peach flavor came through just right.

The food we ordered was delicious. Loved the sweet plantains with the sour cream and pistachio topping; the crunch really added to this appetizer. The arroz con mariscos, seafood rice, was tasty and the ribeye stir fry was my favorite. The steak was well-seasoned, and the vegetables were tender. The cocktail menu didn't disappoint; I had "Un Placer", a whiskey with cardamom-infused pisco, agave, and bitters, which was very enjoyable.

Dined there during Sunday Brunch. I ordered the brunch; the fruit, veggies, and other sides were good. However, the fish and chicken selections from the buffet tasted "northern" not "southern". The others in my party ordered from the menu and commented that their meals were very good. There's a jazz band during Sunday brunch, which is loud but entertaining. This is a good spot to celebrate your birthday.

Excellent food served by a caring and charming staff. Will definitely go again! The bluefin tuna appetizer was amazing as was the duck and salmon. One of our friends had the ramen noodles with fresh summer veggies and the restaurant’s spin on carbonara, creative and delish. Our server as well as the supporting staff were so kind and executed the meal beautifully.

I have only gone for brunch. But I’ve gone at least 6-7 times. The food quality is excellent. It’s also abundant and healthy. What I don’t understand is the cost and, mind you, I eat brunch at a lot of places. There are no items that are exotic or expensive to acquire. And there is a heavy (automatically added)“service” cost that they suggest isn’t a tip. Then, on your credit card receipt they present the “additional tip” line. I don’t want to speculate or opine beyond this, but I wanted to voice this.

Tonari is our Wafu Italian restaurant. WAFU means Japanese-style, so our menu is a Japanese take on Italian food. It originated in Japan through the love that the Japanese had for Italian food but wanted to incorporate some of their cultural flavors and ingredients to them. We at Daikaya Group and chef & owner, Katsuya Fukushima, are bringing this experience to you here in DC.
