Exceptional service and all around positive experience! I am hesitant to say anything negative about this venerable place because I love it. However, establishments which strive for perfection and promote themselves as the best, need to attain excellence at every turn. This was not the case at last nights dinner at the Coast, Ocean House’s finest restaurant. I treated my friend to a special birthday dinner and the entirety of the experience held its worth. Dinner was fun, delicious and very, very salty. Not just one dish (Stonington lobster with noodles was a challenge to eat, despite the generally good flavor, and I could not finish it) but a couple of other items suffered (especially the accompanying carrot offered with the Wagyu beef dish swam in large sea salt flakes). Now this may sound picky but, the expectation is perfection, and it was not. The dinner was great but it didn’t feel special. Sad because it was very expensive. Fortunately, the exceptional service made up for the slightly disappointing food. All of this being said, I recognize how difficult it must be to bring your “A”game every single day. I’ll give them another try with the hope that the “A game” is on the menu.

So many delicious choices. Everything was great and met each of our dietary needs. Our servers were great, making sure the mimosa was flowing, getting coffee, etc. Lovely setting overlooking the harbor, nice music group and very well paced so it wasn't crowded.

fair deal but very weird service. we came 25 min early and host was being delayed. we ended up grabbing a table within 5 mins but the waitress didn’t come as often. food was as expected but nothing out of the world. waitress didn’t refill waters but was receptive to cocktail ordering

This is single-handedly my favorite place to eat in Cambridge. The shop is simple, but cosy, and I have never struggled to hear my lunch and dinner partners. The drinks are delicious, I especially loce their homemade ginger beer. The pizza is INCREDIBLE. High quality ingredients on homemade sourdough crust—it doesn’t get better than that.

Le Central is a French bistro, focusing on modern interpretations of classic dishes featuring local products from Sakonnet Lobsters, Four Town Farm (Seekonk, MA), Walker's Farm (Barrington, RI), Scott the Bassman, and Little Rhody Eggs (Foster, RI). Low lighting, checkerboard floor tiling, glass tabletops, and French nu-Jazz provide an intimate yet warm and familiar atmosphere. Chef-owner Jesse James spent his early career in Boston, working with chefs Moncef Meddeb at L'Espalier and Jasper White at Jasper's, with further experience at other landmark restaurants in New York, France, and Italy. Le Central is the third restaurant he has designed, built, and operated, after Aperto (Est 1992) and Boca Rotis (Est 1997), both in San Francisco. The large painting by Inez Storer on the south wall of the restaurant (which also serves as our logo) is of Jesse's son, Sam (the current General Manager & Beverage Director), and his childhood dog, Skye. Inez wouldn't say who the guy in the chair is.

We had brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Not very may people, so it was very quiet. Excellent service. We were greeted upon arrival. Food and drink were both excellent. We would have appreciated some nice, fresh French baguette slices with fresh creamery butter upon arrival. I also suggest toast with the omelet (maybe French country bread) and a drizzle of vinaigrette on the small bit of lettuce on the omelet plate. Enjoyed the homemade soda...very light, flavorful and refreshing. I would like to try the pear hard cider next time. Also, twp crepes instead of one would have been better for the price of the lemon ricotta crepe dish. The French onion soup ( gratinee) was so delicious and our favorite out of the 3 dishes we shared. We enjoyed the lemon ricotta crepe ( needs a little more lemon flavor) and the ratatouille omelet. The potato mixture on the side was good but needed a bit more seasoning. The ratatouille was good, but an addition of goat cheese would have made it memorable. Overall, very good.

We enjoyed our experience very much at Siena. They surprised me with a birthday card. I had the Veal Milanese and my husband had Penne with Vodka Sauce and Shrimp. They were both delicious. My desert was carrot cake on a plate that had Happy Birthday written in chocolate. They made my Birthday very special.

Every time we have family or friends over from out of town we would like them to have their first dinner at Mistral. And as always it never disappoint.
