Just a phenomenal experience. Diego and Pablo absolutely made our night. The food was all excellent, I wouldn’t make a single change and what we ordered. We were not rushed, the wine was beautiful, after dinner drinks and dessert, exceptional. It’s so nice to have a space we can count on to never disappoint. Thank you!

We enjoyed every moment, from the greeting upon entering, throughout the multi-course meal, and even as we bid adieu. The cooking was nuanced, complex, with layers of flavor and texture. We especially enjoyed the seafood/potato “chowder” with multiple bits of different seafood and roe surrounding a creamy veloute, and the duck breast, which was perfectly rendered, cooked, and plated alongside sauces that were tangy and complementary without overwhelming the succulent meat. Service was gracious, truly top-notch. Courses came out promptly— and slowed when we requested more time. Wine list is creative and fairly priced. This is an outstanding restaurant, and if we lived in Chicago we would become regulars!

We did a Chicago weekend visit and chose Avec based on Yelp reviews...it didn't disappoint. We dined at the original Avec on Randolph...it has a great vibe. We sat at the long bar and started with cocktails and then shared small plates. Everything we had was outstanding, from the marinated watermelon and tomato salad, to the grilled shrimp appetizer (the best), to the bacon wrapped dates (we saw everyone ordering these and they were very good), to a delicious grilled focaccia with seasoned feta in the middle and honey on the side for dipping. Pablo, the bar manager, waited on us and reviewed the menu with us going over his favorite menu items. He was personable, fun to dine with, and provided outstanding service. Manuel also took great care of. I can't say enough good things about the food, service and ambiance...top notch!

Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room — all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting — is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with the friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a supremely tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

I love the global menu at Proxi and the wine list keeps up nicely. Of everything we ordered - about 6 dishes to share among 4 people - only one did not exceed expectations (grilled prawns… strange flavor combos). Service is professional and friendly and wines are reasonably priced. Loved returning here and I’ll be back!

Mexican
Uptown
About the restaurant
Opened in 2016, this Uptown Mexican eatery continues to gather accolades, including a spot on The New York Times' recommendations "36 hours in Chicago" and four straight years of being a MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand restaurant right up to the present.

An immersive experience of Oaxacan cuisine featuring layudas (a.k.a. Mexican pizza), tamales oaxaqueños, enchiladas de mole, cornish hen and tacos de birria just to name a few. Their selection of margaritas made with homemade agua frescas with no artificial syrups and mimosas on the weekends is a must! Diners know to leave room too for the Oaxacan nicuatole (a flavored flan) and tres leches cake.

Kie-Gol-Lanee comes from the Zapotec dialect meaning "Piedra Antigua" (old stone). Its Spanish version "Quiegolani" is the name of a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico, where the owners and siblings are from. Maria and Reynel Mendoza run this operation with their spouses, Leo and Sandra, whose mission is to preserve their family’s original recipes.
