LONGER REVIEW: We travel extensively, and have been to Grand Hyatt before, but first time to Makoto. Based on reviews, decided to give it a try. SERVICE: Seated promptly at reservation time at a booth by request, with a nice view of Vail Mountain and the nearby stream. Hiro - our main server - was Awesome. She was there when you needed her, with a great attitude and advice. Nice job! FOOD and COCKTAILS. Nice sake list, but the wines by the glass were a bit sparse. Cocktails were inventive by their description, but we settled on a Mango Cosmo, and a Cab. Crab roll and shrimp appetizer to table share. Sea Bass and Wagyu Filet for entrees. All perfectly cooked, and very little to take home. All Very Tasty. A surprise birthday ice cream at the end was a nice touch. OVERALL: Makoto was a pleasant surprise. They were busy with a large group in an adjoining room, but still the service was great. YES, we would go back. If you are in the Vail area, worth the little bus trip to the west side.More infoMakoto Vail, Modern Japanese CuisinePrice: Very Expensive• Japanese• Vail•4.7

The drinks were delicious. Our little ones loved the children’s meal selection. The Piri Piri chicken is outstanding. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend!More infoMountain StandardPrice: Expensive• American• Vail•4.7

- HHolliVIPAtlanta •70 reviews5.0Dined on Jun 1, 2025We loved this place. We hadn’t been here before and have been visiting Vail for 23 years. So far no other restaurant in town has meet the food quality and outstanding flavor. The beautiful view superb bar drinks. We had the French onion soup, cornbread, chicken and steak frites with the pretzel and cheese dip. Amazing all the way around. We don’t normally repeat restaurants in our week but we may this one! The waiter said it was quiet because the hotel was not busy but it was delicious.More infoGessner Colorado Mountain GrillPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary American• Vail•4.5
