It won’t surprise any Angelenos to learn that chef Dave Beran loves bistro food—it’s the focus, after all, of his Santa Monica restaurant pasjoli. And this spring, he’s inviting his industry friends to share the love, partnering with some of the city’s top chefs for a dinner series called PJ & Friends on Wednesday evenings throughout March and April.
Chefs include Justin Pichetrungsi of Anajak Thai; Nancy Silverton of Osteria Mozza; Evan Funke of Funke, Mother Wolf, and Felix Trattoria; Jeremy Fox of Birdie G’s and Rustic Canyon; Tim Hollingsworth of Otium; and Katianna and John Hong of YANGBAN. For each dinner, the chef will create a wholly original menu where they’re encouraged to put their own spin on a bistro-style menu—imagine a dinner party thrown by a couple of good friends who also happen to be world-class chefs.
“Everybody loves a bistro,” Beran says. “Their walls are often tattered with the remnants of the many people who have passed through. They are reflections of the people that reside within. What better way to celebrate a bistro than to invite friends in to cook?”
For $135 per person, you’ll get a five course dinner and there will also be exciting supplements and additional beverage pairings from the PJ team available for purchase.
