Please note there does not seem to be a wheelchair / walker ramp from the valet parking to the lobby level. The rest of the hotel seemed accessible. The valet parking staff is great. The hostess / waitress staff is outstanding. The food was scrumptious and the teas quite good. The music was good, but best appreciated from the opposite end of the tea room Please. note the unpublished rules: a. Your reservation begins when you sit down, even if your assigned table opens early or late. So it is best to have your entire party on-site before being seated. b. The teas are available by pot, not by cup. c. Valet parking greatly prefers payment in cash and the parking cannot be paid on your tea bill

We hardly ever saw our waitress and when we did and asked for something it felt like we were bothering her. I have enjoyed tea at Brown Palace many times. I brought my entire family yesterday and I must say it definitely didn’t live up to my other experiences based on the service provided.

I brought my daughter and her 5 and 2 year old girls. My daughter said she had dreamed of going for tea at The Brown Palace with all of us since her first daughter was born five years ago. It was a very special day. We were treated well and service was great.

I had the Afternoon Tea with two good friends and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We tried to get in over the holidays but it was booked solid so we settled for late January. Call early if you want to visit in December! I must say the service was excellent! Tina was very attentive and answered all our questions about the tea selections. The food was delicious, fresh and plentiful. They refilled our teapots with hot water without asking. And, the hotel lobby is a beautiful setting. I've been to tea here about 5 times and it never disappoints.

From the valet to the host to the servers, everyone was wonderful - warm and friendly. The food was good - too much to eat in one go so we took a box with us. We had tea and champagne, vegetarian sandwiches, a cream tea, pastries and a chocolate truffle. All really good. The decorations (still Christmas ones) were beautiful and the piano was lovely. We didn't feel hurried at all. The ONLY downside was the temperature - I was a little chilly, but that was manageable. I have been to the Brown Palace for tea before and will do so again!

Beautiful hotel, food and table service was lovely. I would absolutely go back. However, the host staff for tea need to be properly trained on the meaning of hospitality, especially in a 4 star hotel. After we made a reservation for 2 we left a note to increase the reservation for 4 with two days notice. When we got to the host stand we were told “oh that must’ve been overlooked” which is fine, and in the world of hospitality you would just make it work and tell the customer it would be a few minutes. In our experience the hostess told us that we should go to the other restaurants in the establishment/ in the area since they couldn’t seat us for at least 10-15 minutes. This isn’t something we were willing to do, again which is fine it’s only 10-15 minutes. Then I asked if we could split up and just do two 2 tops (since I saw several open 2 tops) and the hostess replied “that would take away from our other 2 tops” (the phone then rang) “see, I just missed a call talking to you”. We said we would just wait for the 4 top and to make it work. We again only waited 15 min and everything was fine in the end. The point of this is to never have the first impression (the host staff) to say such rude things to customers willing to pay $50-$350 for tea each. I never write bad reviews, but some retraining needs to happen at such a historic 4 star hotel. We went to the four seasons yesterday and were treated with such respect and had such an amazing experience and they got 5 stars but the brown palace gets 4.

I have been to the Brown Palace for Afternoon Tea several times in the past and the food and service has always been exceptional - however this was by far my single worst dining experience there. We had a reservation for 3.15pm but when we arrived at the counter at 3.15 were told we would be texted when our table was ready and to hang around. No text was received and 20 minutes later I went to the hostess to check in and she said she could seat us - no apology or explanation for forgetting/ignoring the fact that we had been sitting waiting right in front of her waiting for a text. We were seated at a table at the very outskirts of the lobby beyond the atrium, and when we asked to be seated in the actual atrium we were told it would be another 15-20 minutes though there were many free tables. Despite confirming wanted to move away from the draughty door at the edge of the lobby, the hostess came back 10 minutes later and asked us if we still wanted to move. After we were finally seated, we waited another 15 minutes for our server to even show up. When she finally did, she just picked up our menus and didn’t even take our food order and we had to ask her to take our food order as there are actually different drink combinations you can do. The food arrived another 20 minutes later - by this point it was nearly 4.30pm - well over one hour since our reservation time. We did not see our server for the duration of the tea, such that we had to ask another server for sandwich refills and milk. We asked another server for a high chair which never showed up. We were barely able to find someone to get the check. Appalling service which totally ruined what should have been a lovely tea and great ambience costing $118 for 2 people. Not sure if this played any role, but I was here with my mother and my child and we are Asian.

The tea itself was delicious, but we sat 45 minutes after our reservation time with nowhere to sit in the meantime. The food was fine, but not worth the cost, and the music was loud. Bought a very similar tea online for $9. Save your money.

Food was amazing and tea was delicious. The lobby was gorgeous and the piano was a nice touch. Exactly the experience we were looking for. They initially sat us at a horrible table outside of the lobby and we were very disappointed. When we asked to move they accommodated us immediately. The servers were kind and helpful but took a while to come back to us. They brought us more sandwiches when we ran out. At the end we were a little surprised by the check. It said the tea was $50 per person and we had 6 people but it came to $320. After tip it was $385. That doesn’t count what we tipped for valet and coat check and the server for moving us. Overall it was a special memory for us and my 94 year old grandma- who loves going to tea- said it was the fanciest tea she has ever been to. We would definitely bring guests again but when you make reservations maybe call and specify where you want to sit and mentally prepare for a significant tip.

This has really gone downhill, I’m so sad to say! It is now $50 per person for the basic afternoon tea, but only includes the base desserts. If you want a single dessert made with chocolate, you need to get the next level up which includes champagne. The service was slow and has lost any of the kindness and punctuality of prior years. The scones were dry and kind of hard. There are only two sinks in the ladies bathroom, and one had a giant, black garbage bag on it to show it was out of order. I feel like I paid way too much money just for the excellent, beautiful Christmas decorations. I don’t think I will bother with this again.

I’ve been several times but this time it had a very overpowering smell of the cigars from the lounge. Also, if you are gluten free, I’d suggest spending your money elsewhere. I’ve been to other tea houses in Denver and the gluten free options are much tastier than at The Brown.

The tea was wonderfully delicious and there was plenty of interesting options to choose from. Food was just okay, dry very small portions, and lacked diversity. The quality of the food didn’t line up with the price at all. Our waitress was lovely, but the lady that greeted us was quite rude. We had a reservation and showed up on time, she shooed us aside and we waited for 15min until a different hostess saw us and helped us to our seats. Overall, would not do this again or recommend that others check it out. The service and quality just really wasn’t on par with the price.

Our table was close to the revolving door, and unfortunately the smell of cigarette smoke was noticeable. Service was a bit disjointed, we had no less than 4 people assist during our tea service. Otherwise the tea is lovely, the food was excellent, the piano player was amazing. The overall look of the lobby was very beautiful.

I've gone to afternoon two other times here before, but this time it wasn't good at all. The food was blah the scones were the best part, but the sandwiches are ridiculously too small. The desserts seem old. The service was bad unfortunately for the price you pay and it shouldn't be bad. They never came around to refill our hot water for tea, and we hardly saw our waitress. We waited additional 20mins to be seated, so overall we waited 40mins for a table. Their credit card machine wasn't working properly so it declined my card. I spoke to my credit card company and they said it was the merchant issue "Browb Palace" since they didn't see any transactions on their end. Overall I don't think I would recommend afternoon tea here anymore. It just to pricey for a mediocre experience now, so unfortunate.

My daughter and I enjoyed our Holiday tea at the Brown Palace, although it wasn't quite as nice as I had expected given the price. They were out of lemon curd (my favorite), so we only had the cream and some average jarred preserves for our scones. The scones were a bit dry. Most of the pastries were nice, although the mint tart was awful (the taste and consistency reminded me of toothpaste!) The tea was lovely, and our servers were friendly but a bit overwhelmed because they were understaffed. The biggest issue I had was the overwhelming smell of cigar smoke coming from the bar. They absolutely need to do something about that, or just don't seat anyone within about 30 feet of the doors to the bar (Palace Arms/Churchill's) The doors don't seem to close completely, and it just allows too much smoke smell to emanate into the lobby of the hotel where tea is being served. This outing was a treat for my daughter, and a Denver holiday tradition we have wanted to do for a long time. I'm glad we did it once, but I'm not in a big hurry to do it again. It's very expensive for what you get, and I think there are probably better ways to spend $120 for two people.

We were told that they were unaware of the online reservations that had been made and were therefore extremely unprepared. After waiting over an hour past our reservation time, we were finally seated. We were willing to hang around because of the holiday atmosphere and great live music. We were trying to be sensitive to the circumstances. After we were seated and waited 30 more minutes we decided to leave because a server never came by. Too bad because we were really looking forward to Christmas Eve at the Brown. I have had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea at the Brown Palace for many, many years. The two times I’ve been since COVID have truly left a lot to be desired. Here’s to hoping they can get it together.
