Covid-19 Outdoor Dinning:
Continued excellent experience even if there aren’t trolleys going around with dim sum. We preordered our selections before we sat down. We feasted even though everything was in Togo containers and enjoyed the experience. We felt safe.
Dimsums always good, but little pricey with plastic utensils.
The food was cold but it was still good. Because of COVID, dining was outside and it was a cold day. The restaurant should contemplate putting up those portable commercial heating lamps. Also the skeletal crew had to carry our entire order on a tray. It would have been easier to travel the distance while keeping the food warm using their carts with wheels. There was certainly ample spaces between the tables to do this. Otherwise, service was great.
I expected the carts and liveliness but with COVID plastic plates, orders on list, quiet seating in atrium. Staff was very pleasant, food delicious.
Missing dim sum, we made a reservation for Yang Sank days in advance, stood in a slow long line for check-in which we had no issue. While it was finally our turn, the host first did not check our reservation (I had to remind her), and then she informed us that we need to order before sitting down. Didn’t want to hold up the line, we asked if we can start with a few dishes (6-8) and add more later, the “dim sum” way. She said yes but forced us to order more before giving us a table (“for four people this is not enough and we will give your table away”, she said).
Being there countless times, that was a surprise to us. We looked at each other and just ordered anything that came to mind in a rush. That really destroyed the experience.
While the food was still good, and once sat down the service was good too (we felt bad for the serving crew— they worked so hard but the system was not set up to help them), we will probably go somewhere else for now.
This was for a long overdue birthday celebration. Although small because of the 2020 circumstances, it was wonderful as always.
It was outdoor seating, which was nice. The food came in plastic containers. They gave us plastic utensils in plastic bags with condiments and a napkin. The food was very expensive, served without honey walnut prawn sweet mayonnaise, the soup was bland, and they forgot our additional order and we had to wait a long time for it. I can’t wait for regular indoor service to come back. I’m sure all this was due to COVID restrictions. But, the cost was super high for what we got.
Wish they had full menu
Yank sing is our favorite dim sum and they are doing their best to deal with covid. They are still working out the kinks but will soon be up to their 5 star standards.
Having been a fairly regular customer, I was disappointed by the limited menu, plastic forks and spoons, paper plates and cups, and higher prices, including a 5% "service charge." I probably won't come back until revert to your regular restaurant service.
a totally different dining experience due to pandemic rules, but food is still on point. Go support this SF dim sum icon.
the staff and the food was great, we missed the cart service
Felt very safe with distancing, ate outside, staff wore masks, disposable plates and utensils and great food. Limited menu is understandable, however missed a few of my dim sum favorites
The food here is always wonderful and they did a great job following COVID safety protocols, making our meal very enjoyable.
Food was excellent. Today was their first day open after the COVID closures. They were scrambling a bit but so kind and trying to make everything as smooth as possible. Delicious. Will come back for sure!
They are doing a good job dealing with the COVID thing, but it's hard to replicate the experience you have inside. They deserve support to help get through this! The food was great as usual! One thing I did notice while going to the restroom was that the building owners have finished remodeling the atrium. Boy did they ruin it! the rain fountain is gone. looks like an industrial warehouse all concrete and spray foam fire insulation. Whoever is responsible has managed to create one of the ugliest public indoor spaces in the City. Good Job! In the future most definitely will NOT be dining in the atrium, it suck aesthetically !
Varied and well-crafted dim sum. Service poor. Prices high
Good basic Chinese dim sum at somewhat higher prices. We liked it well enough to come back the next day. Very efficient yet personable service. It seemed full of tourists with only a few locals like us.
The most amazing place about dim sum. Great place in SF.
The variety of dim sum available satisfied everyone in our party, and all were delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, and although the restaurant was busy, the layout was such that I could easily converse with everyone at our table. I would definitely come here again!
the quality of the dumplings is no longer the same as it used to be. the dow of most dumplings was tough and it felt like they were re-heated from the day before.
the service was slow til non-existing.
to top the review is that they were tow large groups with 12 or more people in near proximity who had their business meeting during lunch. as they were finished with it; the members lingered around the table just behind us and were socializing. when we asked the waiter to tell them to be more respectful towards the other guests, our request was not followed. same thing happened when we asked the manager.
This restaurant has always been on my bucket list and for that, I am glad to cross it off my list. I have discovered so many great dim sum restaurants with much better value.
I will say that the sea bass was delicious, but at $21.75 for a single, small portion, I won't be doing that again.
I made a reservation for 3:45pm on Sunday Mar 1st...the restaurant closes ar 4pm.
We were stuck...dropped off by Uber then needed to given alternative place to dine.
Bad information...bad reservation!
We had a reservation and had to wait which is not a big deal except the hostess was not too friendly and did not communicate well with us.
It is always good. A great place to take out of town friends.
The food was exceptional as always! I have been going to Yank Sing since the late eighties- when it was on Battery Street.
The only thing that I would complain about is that they don't give you free refills on soda. So they charge you every time for a small glass.😞
We have been going to Yank Sing for years. Not sure what happened this time. Dumplings were hard and tasteless.
Food was great, lots of choices and the carts came around often. I wasn't sure sometimes if I was getting the right thing because the servers were hard to understand but it worked out okay in the end. This place is good for groups, especially more than 2 people, so that you can try lots of different dim sum. We were seated outside of the restaurant, in the atrium, which got quite cold after a while. I will probably come back next time I'm in the mood for dim sum.
Yank Sing operates the best dim sum establishments in San Francisco. Try any location..you will not be disappointed.
There are many many other restaurants with better dim sum. Even Chinatown take out places. All their dumpling's skins were thick and rubbery. Dim sums from the carts were mostly on the cold side.
The food was one of the best value was ok
It was good. Service was quick and the dishes are delicious
We have been coming to Yank Sing for many years and we enjoyed this visit far more than we have in quite a while.
Great dim sum!
I was excited to find a place that has good vegetarian dim sum, and Yank Sing didn't disappoint. The mushroom dumplings were particularly excellent, and I couldn't help but admire the variety they have of not just dumplings but also sides and deserts. My single criticism is that if you're looking for something specific, it might be a while for the cart to come around unless you can flag down a waiter to call the right one.
This is our go to dim sum restaurant. High quality dim sum. Worth the extra cost for the ingredients, preparation, lots of vegetarian options and service. Rincon restaurant has parking below.
this is the best food ever! the snow pea shoot dumplings are my favorite. they literally melt in your mouth.
Lovely dim sum place!
Best always, from customer service to quality of food, never disappoints :)
