Contemporary American | Bristol, Vermont, Vermont

Returning to Mary’s for Easter dining after a couple of years (more?) away, we were greeted with the buffet set up. Many offerings were as delicious as expected but some were obviously difficult to maintain in their ideal condition in the buffet (extended exposure) scene. Found some things that should be hot were not or were hot but had dried out (example: lamb was tender but dry - a sauce would have helped). Love shrimp cocktail but don’t want to have to shell the shrimp! Regarding cost: a trip to Mary’s is a stretch for my budget, although in the past all has been as close to perfect as anyone could wish = worth it. Our server was wonderful! I’m most likely to dine there again, just not for the buffet. More

Discover Bristol, Vermont

Located at the foot of the Green Mountains, Bristol's dining scene offers a wonderful taste of Vermont. Stop into one of the town's cafés or bistros for a variety of locally sourced dishes, including cheeses or eggs from one of Vermont's numerous dairy farms. You can also enjoy many maple-flavored dishes, with fresh maple syrup sourced from the local maple forests. New American spots use these ingredients to offer creative twists on traditional American fare. If you're in the mood for something distinctly Vermont, try a dish of fiddleheads with mushrooms. For dessert, fruit pies are a great option. A slice of strawberry and rhubarb or apple pie topped with Vermont cheddar cheese are two popular must-haves.
