Tom's Urban is named for Founder Tom Ryan, recently listed as one of the "Top 25 Food Entrepreneurs" of the last quarter century by Gourmet Magazine. His team sought to create a dining experience offering innovative, yet familiar dishes alongside a creative bar program. Situated at the gateway of Larimer Square, Tom's Urban is an experience unlike any other. The menu includes America's most iconic dishes served alongside regional specialties found only in Colorado. The menu is scratch-made and features everything from benedicts to burgers, urban tacos to seafood Pot Pie – all with an urban twist. The restaurant uses locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible and partners with some of the area's finest farmers and purveyors.

My friend’s food had hairs and a bug in and their lettuce was wilted! Really disappointed
So.....I'm sad to say that Tom's has changed. I used to love this place and loved coming here with friends, before or after a show (we do theatre downtown). But apparently 3 weeks ago (according to our waitress) they changed the menu. What an understatement. The entire happy hour structure and menu options shrunk, including the portion sizes -- except for the prices. Their street tacos used to be a real highlight - lots of options, large portions. Now, much smaller tacos and only 3 options. VERY disappointing. And very few items included in their happy hour now. Paying $13.50 for 3 little tacos about 5" in diameter and therefore very little food inside them is a ripoff, pure and simple. I'm from NYC, so I'm used to paying outrageously for very little food, but not here in Denver, sorry. I'll be going elsewhere going forward unless they change their current arrangements. Pity, I really loved going to Tom's for years.
In Denver for a convention and found Tom's Urban on Larimer Square and reserved a table for that night. No need. The food was mediocre, the service was mediocre, and the ambiance mediocre (maybe I should have said "fair-to-middlin'" rather than mediocre but it is what it is. It was fine for a quick bite to eat, but I guess I expected more. Why did I expect more? This quote on the website (presumably from Tom himself): "I traveled the world to take the sights, sounds, tastes and culture from as many places as possible to bring them to your table. I received a PhD in Flavor and Fragrance Chemistry, was named one of the Top 25 Food Entrepreneurs of the Last Quarter Century by Gourmet Magazine, and dedicated my life to creating dining and drinking experiences that linger long after you leave." Tom's Urban doesn't live up to this standard.
Took over 45 minutes to get our appetizers. It was not busy. No need for reservations. Will not return.
My family and I went here for a quick pre show dinner, and the service was OUTSTANDING. Our server was a wonderful person, and she paid excellent attention to our table while still allowing us the space to enjoy each other's company. The food was magnificent and the drink specials were great. I definitely recommend the fish tacos and the brussel sprouts. We were all perfectly full, and were practically licking our plates clean.
The atmosphere is depressing. Felt like a college campus cafeteria. Music blasting and various “viral” videos and ads and sports on the numerous TVs. The food was mediocre. The service was friendly but bizarre. We ordered sliders, a salad, and the steak. The salad came out with 2 other various items. Clearly there was a mix up of some sort and we were not told what happened. Only that it’ll be out shortly. 20 minutes later the chicken sliders and steak came out. No explanation. They took a beer off our tab to make up for it. The server was friendly as was the other guy, who did not introduce himself but might have been the manager(?). We will not come back here again.
We have been here before and we feel that the service and food has slipped a little. Calamari were way over cooked. Balance of our order was good. We will come back another time and see if this was just a hiccup the day.
The change of the menu is underwhelming. This is no longer a go to place for me.
Went for brunch, enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and an omelet. Good food, meat dietary restrictions and was a great location. Will go back.
We've eaten here many times before a comedy show and love it. This particular visit the service was slower and the food quality wasn't as good as we have come to expect here. Not sure if it was just an off night or what.
I've been to this restaurant before, for dinner, and it was fine. But either it's declined a bit or they were having an off day because nothing about our meal yesterday was very good. Service was slow, coffee was bitter, my eggs were dry, the toast brittle, my son said that his buttermilk pancakes were the worse he's ever tasted. So perhaps brunch isn't their thing? Not sure, but I don't think I will go there again, especially for the price we paid for such a meal.
I’m sorry the chick potsticker salad is gone!
I have had pleasant experiences at Tom's in the past, but my experience over Easter weekend was horrible. We ordered calimari, which was dry and flavorless, and served with strange-tasting sauces. My eggs benedict were served on a mushy cornmeal-type of muffin. My guest's philli steak sandwich was bizarre...five or six thick slices of steak and a slice of cheese. No onions or peppers and it was served with a thick gravy instead of an au jus.
My boyfriend and I had a lovely meal together! Our waitress was perfect and respected our time together while also being attentive, the drinks were amazing, and the food was delicious! We will definitely be going back!
Caught a quick meal before a show
Had a great time. Took a long time to get food but service was great and the food was delicious.
The restaurant is in a good area, easy to find, and has good hours. The food was honestly way too expensive for what it really is. I probably wouldn't dine here again but it was a good one time experience.
It was average. We requested guidance on what was gluten free and were told the menu will show a “GF” next to the gluten free foods. Nothing in the menu had “GF” next to it.
We went for the Restaraunt Week menu and invited friends to join us. We were told by the waitress that there was a glitch in the system and it couldn't be offered. However, after talking to the manager, we were able to enjoy the menu as planned. The food was good as was the service.
First time to have dinner there and we really enjoyed ourselves. We really enjoyed the chicken potstickers as an appetizer, the tacos were excellent and their version of a Cuban Sandwich was very good(yes I am a traditionalist). The rosemary fries and the sweet potato fries were great. Service was excellent!
It was far too loud. Our group could not hear each other.
Great food and service. Recommend to anyone.
Great place to go downtown.
Wonton & pickle apps barely average. Burgers good. Lobster sandwich was a complete disappointment for $24.50. Rips and tears in booths, really warn down. Previous two visits over the past year or so were good, this visit gives no reason to return.
We (6 of us) went here for dinner after doing our first escape room. I chose Tom's Urban because it was only a couple blocks away. We had a great time. Service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush and were enjoying ourselves. Our food was great. We shared fried pickles - I got the shrimp po'boy sliders. You can't really go wrong there, but my friend got the "figgy piggy" - a sort of grown up grilled cheese with bacon and fig jam...I will get that if we go back - it was amazing! They have a decent beer selection as well as a "concoctions" menu for those non-beer drinkers out there.
Took out of town friends and they loved it. The food and large menu accommodated everyone's taste. Booth seating made it great to be able to share dishes.
Quite disappointed the other night. EXTREMELY noisy with way-too-loud music. Service was adequate, but the food fell down. Spicy Edamame app was okay. Not great. My prime rib sliders were okay but dry. Wife's fig/jelly/whatever sandwich was meh. Brussel sprouts side was meh. We've eaten at the Las Vegas branch more than once (which is why we came to the Denver branch), and it was way better than Denver. Don't get your hopes up.
Read reviews that the food is below average but it’s such a great location and menu that we thought we would try it. Unfortunately we agree with the poor reviews. The duck wings were OK but very little meat on them. The pizza was soggy, salads boring and low-quality, and beef very tough. Service was good as well as location and Ambiance but food is surprisingly poor.
Great service, great food, great location. We had a wonderful dinner with friends, then walked over to the CO Avalanche game. Perfect location to eat before the games.
Received fries instead of the tater tots I ordered, but they quickly brought the tots out and told me to keep the fries.
Of the 6 dishes we ordered one was good. The steak chimichurra was inedible. The table wasn't ready when we arrived and the service was dismal. Such a great location, but the restaurant seems run down and not very clean.
Relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices. Family friendly. Food was great, but our drinks were very weak.
Perfect option for going to comedy show. Great slider options.
Very loud. The food was tasty but a bit pricey. It was more of a sports bar environment than I expected.
good place; centrally located Larimer square downtown Denver. hip joint. creative food. decent prices. great jump off point for comedy works or dcpa shows or anything downtown.
It is always good, nice service, an extensive menu and predictable! Just a fun place to come on a weekend on Larimer Square.
Super time at Tom's Urban. 5 of us were sat immediately even though we were late due to delay in getting out of a concert. All items ordered by our party were rated outstanding.
Excellent meal and service. Only problem was my sons burger (ordered medium rare was well done). He still enjoyed it and ate it up. Brussel Sprouts were amazing!!
Good food, great service but, due to the location, a tad overpriced. I’ll still go back, I’m sure!
Our service was horrible and disappointing. We had 6:15pm dinner reservations, arrived 10 minutes early and didn't receive our dinner items until 7:10pm. our waiter was constantly distracted, barely cleared our appetizer dishes and rung up our checks incorrectly. The Fig, 3 Cheese and Bacon sandwich sadly was too sweet. The Philly Cheeseteak and the Pulled sport sandwiches were good though, as were the lemon rosemary tator tots.
