Food and service excellent. Our server Priscilla was great, answered all of our questions, was attentive without overwhelming. Gave good menu recommendations. Really like the darker, quiet atmosphere and the festive decorations for the holidays already up. All around a great experience, will definitely be back.
The food was good and hot and the service was excellent. Even the manager came over and thanked us for visiting his restaurant. Will definitely come back again I’ve never had a bad meal at this restaurant. I’ll also tell my friends what great service that you have.
We are so glad to hear that you had a great time at Thirsty Lion during your visit! We hope to see you again soon.
Great outdoor patio and delicious brunch options!
Thank you for the review, Valerie! So glad we could be part of your weekend. We can’t wait to serve you again soon.
This restaurant was better than we anticipated. The food was amazing and for the new mandates in Denver they made us feel so safe. We will absolutely be going again!
Reilly, , we are so pleased that you value the efforts we have put towards creating a safe environment for our guests and staff. Thank you for sharing your kind words with us. It means a lot to us and our entire team! We hope to see you again soon.
Food was excellent!
The service and food were great. Shortly after finishing our dinner, sewage poured into the restaurant behind our table. It was so smelly and gross. We were moved to a different table to finish our drinks. It was an awful experience.
Had a great night! The drinks were awesome and the staff was friendly and kept service coming quickly.
Good place for a game! Lots of activity, not boring.
The food was excellent but the bartender and server were the best part. Great attitudes in a challenging time. Thank you.
Great burgers. Always good service here from friendly outgoing staff.
We got appetizers and cocktails. Food was great and we sat outside which was delightful. However our server seemed put out that we were even there. We are all very low key people and we were all disappointed with his delivery. He may just have a flat personality or he was having a bad day, but we were grateful that least the food & beers were good.
We went for Sunday brunch. Once seated, it took awhile for the waiter to come over and take our drink order. The restaurant seemed understaffed. They eventually brought our coffees, but nothing to stir the coffee with. Food was just okay. There are better restaurants in the area.
Good option for a business lunch with social distancing. Good food good service.
The food is impeccable. Can’t visit here without getting the beer cheese soup, and it never disappoints!
Great food! Relaxed atmosphere! Trendy ambiance!!!
Good food and friendly service
Wonderful service and food was great as always
Food was excellent, but our server was slow to bring drinks, didn't follow up after we got our meals. Had to flag the server down to order second round of drinks and it took 10 minutes to get our second round.
The waitress was so rude. We even asked to speak with her manager and she never brought him/her over. The food was totally fine but I would not go back and I would not recommend.
Went for Sunday brunch during my bday getaway in Denver. Made online reservations and was accommodated accordingly. The patio offers beautiful views of the area... Denver atmosphere is so friendly and diverse. Food was absolutely delicious! My best friend and I ordered multiple entrees so that we could sample quite a bit. No complaints on anything. I'd definitely visit again when in Denver.
Food was pretty mediocre. Cesar salad was overdressed with limp lettuce and meager croutons. “roasted” chicken just tasted like salt. Queso and chips was okay.
We had a great time. They have an excellent socially distanced set-up on their patio and it's nice that it over looks the Union Station plaza. The food was tasty and we had a great time. If you've never had their cauliflower appetizer, try it. It's my favorite there... don't let the word "cauliflower" let you think it will be bland... it's got the best flavor!
Excellent service (Chelsea or Kelsey) was not quite able to catch her name through the mask. Quick with the Guiness, very attentive....much appreciated.
Great place to watch a game.
Wanted outside seating but it wasn’t available and were not given any options
I got sick after eating the Caprese chicken sandwich. The tomatoes looked like that been a refrigerator for a week. Didn't eat them but..........should of never been served. They used to have great food but it has gone down hill for sure. Too bad because it's a great location.
Great pub...super clean...friendly helpful staff and very careful with covid. Would def go back.
Jenhg, thank you very much for such a great review. We work hard to offer great food in a safe environment for our guests and staff, so are pleased to see that reflected in your visit. Look forward to seeing you soon!
Excellent location for a business lunch.
Megan, thank you for the awesome 5-star review! hope to see you again soon.
Rating this restaurant a 3 because although the food was amazing, our service was terrible. Our waitress came to our table to take our orders, and then we didn’t see her again until after we were done with our entrees - at which time she did not say one word to us, she tried to take our plates away without asking how everything was, asking if we needed anything, etc. It’s a shame, because our group wanted to order another appetizer and more rounds of drinks, but since she never came to our table we were unable to do so. Part of the problem is that they have servers who take orders and runners who bring the food to the tables, so the interaction between server and customer is minimal. Even so, the server should still come to the table at various points throughout the dining experience to ask the patrons if they need anything - that’s customer service 101. It completely ruined our experience.
We appreciate you sharing your experience. Thank you for bringing the slow service to our attention so we can work with our team to learn from this. We are glad you enjoyed your meal, and hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.
Ignored by Waite staff, was there for 2.5 hours only offered 2 drinks no dessert. Very disappointed.
Mitzi, thank you for dining with us recently. We are very sorry to hear your experience was anything but amazing. We take your comments with sincere concern and will address them with the team. If you have time please contact me directly to try to correct our error. email@example.com
Took the husband out for a "real date" after months of not going out - it was great! The service was friendly and well timed throughout our meal, the food was delicious (the Gastropub burger was one of the best I've had, and Scotch eggs were top notch), and it was priced as expected for eating downtown. Despite the weirdness of masked waiters and a half empty dining room, it was a very enjoyable evening.
We are so glad you selected Thirsty Lion Union Station for your date night! The Gastropub Burger and Scotch Eggs really are Thirsty Lion classics, so happy you enjoyed them. We are trying to make are guests as comfortable as possible and we thank you for wearing your face covering/mask in order to join us for diner. We hope to see you and your husband soon.
This is our "go to" place before almost all Colorado Avalanche games. When the Avs aren't playing we go out of our way to dine at Thirsty Lion. If you are anywhere near Union Station...stop and eat here.
Good selectuon of local beer!
Had reservation for brunch on Aug 22nd, we were seated on time. The waitress seemed bothered to be there from the get go. We ordered our meals, my wife had corned beef hash, which was served with raw potatoes. One of our family members ordered avocado toast with no red pepper flakes, the waitress confirmed the no pepper flakes upon taking the order, and it still arrived covered in them. Another order was a benedict with poached eggs, the eggs were practically hard boiled, and when asked to replace them, the waitress continued with her "please don't bother me" attitude. We finally asked to just not replace the eggs, nor the hash, and my mother in law powered through the avocado toast with her mouth burning up, just to not have to deal with the waitress. The waitress did not refill our water once, no manager came to talk to us...most disappointing trip to the Lion we have ever had. Usually one of our favorite spots in downtown Denver and we have been there several times, this may be our last visit ...I hope they find some servers that actually want to be there and put a little more care into the food.
Awesome service, awesome food great environment. Love the Turkey Club..
This experience was incredibly disappointing.
After being seated, we waited a full 25 minutes before any member of staff came to our table. We kept looking around waiting for someone to come by but no one ever did.
For context we arrived around 8:45 pm and were limited on time to be served as the curfew in Denver is 10pm for last call for COVID restrictions.
After our waitress came by she took both or drink and dinner orders and that was honestly the only time we saw her. We waited another 15-20 minutes and both our drinks and food arrived at the same time.
By now it is around 9:30pm and we are finishing up our first drinks and dinner. We waited around again for our waitress to order another drink and again she was nowhere to be found.
Finally around 9:45 our waitress came by our table and we were all ready to order. She mentions we were past last call and we’re not able to order any more drinks...even though the last call curfew is 10pm...
After a disappointing conversation with her we just asked for our checks. She then brought back the checks and every single check was incorrect. There were five of us at the table. We had such a hard time tracking her down we ended up just paying each others bills and figuring it out ourselves. This was much easier than trying to track someone down and wait another 30 minutes to have this fixed.
I will not be dining here again. It’s sad because the food is pretty good, the drink aren’t bad and the ambiance is great. But if I’m honest, I get better service at a drive thru.
Missed having green beans available for a vegetable. Also, they no longer have the s'mores dessert. They say it is due to reducing menu after reopening after COVID, so hope they can bring it back. Otherwise, we think the food always tastes good.
This place has always been a good place to have a quick bit and see friends.
Great food, great service! Fun to visit whether it's for happy hour, special occasion, or just because :)
Hostess set the tone as unfriendly for this trip. We’ll be back though. Still an awesome location.
