The food and setting were nice. However, the service was very slow. More waitpersons would help. The room was chilly. The tea was cold before the food arrived.

This was our first time at the Denver Tea Room. Some things were nice - the decor, the lovely china and overall ambiance. And some of the food was good — the scones and cream especially. But some was a little bland and disappointing. And the men in our group wanted to order off the beer list but they literally had zero beer on hand. When we tried to order extra scones, which was clearly offered as an option on the menu, the staff seemed like it was an out of the ordinary request. Overall a little disappointing but we still enjoyed ourselves.

Interesting section of holiday tea flavors for Christmas tea, marzipan, vanilla cinnamon black, gingerbread green, candy cane black. We had them all and they were all good. Food was tasty-turkey shepherds pie, scones and a selection of sweets plus jam and clotted cream. Friendly, competent service. Relaxed yet festive ambiance.

The service was excellent. The problem was all customers were served at one time and we did not have a choice of entries. Their menu stated choices and everyone was served a set menu. Our hot food was warm and the biscuit was not homemade. Too much money for a banquet style tea.

Great destination for a "girls day out." Also ideal as a Mother-Daughter event. Molly was fabulous as host during the holiday weekend. Couldn't have asked for better. Scones and apricot jam were the favorite (thanks, Margo!), with the cucumber sandwiches as a close second. Loved it! Expect to see my sister back at your book club!

A delightful Sunday afternoon at the Denver Tea Room. Excellent tea selections and the nibbles were top notch. Highly recommend this place for a more intimate, less posh (and expensive) experience versus Brown Palace.

The service was excellent. All the proper foods for high tea was served especially cucumber sandwiches. It was amazing. Kudos to the owner. Sharon Sheppard

For a scheduled Mothers Day Event the service was on the slow side and a couple of us left unsatisfied/hungry. The food was excellent however. Just not enough to justify the price I am sorry to say - and I work in the restaurant industry. Both mom’s enjoyed themselves and will probably go again when its a regular day to see the difference.

The service was great. Everybody was accomodaring and nice. The food however was not. We requested the vegan option advertised on the website, but the food was a poor veganized version of their daily menu. It was tasteless and the scones were so dry and hard that we couldn’t have them. The tea was very regular (specially for a tea house) and they didn’t have good substitutions for the cream or the savory entrees. I suggest they don’t offer a vegan option if they don’t know how to execute a good vegan menu. In top of this, we were charged an extra $5 fee per person for a dietary accommodation. This brought the bill to $172 (including 15% tip) for 4 people! We ended up leaving to get a good vegan lunch at another restaurant in town for a fourth of the bill.

The food was fantastic and the service was good. I was disappointed in the tea selection--I drink tea every day, and the teas they had were extremely strong/too much caffeine, giving me a stomach ache immediately. Also, it is a very small place, and several of the groups were quite loud, and the tables are right on top of each other, so I was most disappointed by the ambiance. For the price, I would appreciate a quieter environment with fewer tables. They have it decorated nicely, like a formal British tea room, but because of the loud crowd and the cramped-together tables, it felt more like I was at a bar than having afternoon tea.

The food was a little disappointing although the scones were delicious...tea selections were great. Service was great. Was a little surprised to find bits of loose tea in my napkin when first sitting down. Also surprised that table cloths weren't pressed, given that it was a specialty tea location. The decor and ambiance was lovely. The music sounded strange and ominous and was a little loud.

Fantastic room and wonderful service. The tea started with a truly outstanding potato leek soup. The tea sandwiches came with a crostini and small piece of quiche. Both quite good. The only downside was the most important part of a cream tea. The scones were heavy and under baked and the cream was Chantilly cream and not the clotted cream one usually receives. What a letdown after an otherwise wonderful experience.

I had a few issues with The Denver Tea Room. First of all, I made a reservation. I have never skipped out on one. It was very inconvenient when the staff called me at NINE IN THE MORNING ON A SUNDAY ON THE TURN OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. I understand that confirming reservations is important at a busy place and I assumed it was busy because it requires reservations 24 hours+ ahead of time. By the way, when they say “The Denver Tea ROOM” they really mean it. There is an awkward lobby space with an adjacent coffee bar. The room itself is behind two awkward doors that ther server struggled with through our visit. When we arrived, the coffee barista made our experience confusing. I arrived right on time and let the barista know that I was there, but they couldn’t help. They were pleasant, but I still had to wait around awkwardly with another party before I was seated by the SINGLE person on staff. During service, the single server seemed over their head although the restaurant was not even close to full capacity. On my arrival, we were one of two or three tables in the room. I don’t understand why we weren’t expected, or seated promptly; not only is it reservation-required, I had even called from a block away because I was confused of it’s location. Be advised that The Denver Tea Room is next-door neighbors with an insurance agent in the ground level of an apartment complex (also, when I called the person who answered couldn’t even name the complex.) What’s worse is that the service left much to be expected. For example, they only checked on us 2-3 times. Our tea kettle ran dry twice without timely refilling. It’s literally called The Denver Tea Room and somehow tea took a backseat. Moreover, the food was microwaved or toaster-warmed at absolute best. Not worth the $30 sticker price for the high-tea tasting menu. The other party from before had the sense to leave within 5 minutes of sitting down. I think they had the right idea.

The tea room is very pretty and very quiet. Only one other group in the room. The food was good, but only the scones were outstanding. I asked about a tea that I had had there and they were out, server suggested another but they were also out of that one and they did not have any scone mix, that they usually have to purchase. For the price, the Brown Palace is much better.
