We can boast about the incredible food, wine selections, our selection of ten 18 year or older scotchs, our large selection of Kentucky Bourbons and atmosphere…but what you won’t believe is the impeccable service. We don’t want to spoil the fun and surprises, but what we can tell you, Albuquerque is now in for an incredible treat.
Don’t believe us? Take a moment to view the wine list and menu. If you want to give your palate and your dining companion a flavorful adventure, there just isn’t a better option than The Crown Room.
Please dress for success. We suggest discourage cut off, gym shorts and flip flops.
Food was awesome. Been there twice since it’s been open. Triple flambé! Pricey but the experience was worth it. Bring a group.
Excellent food. Keep the flatbread on menu, best flatbread I’ve ever had
We have always enjoyed the crown room but this last visit disappointed us. The service was only mediocre. No one asked us if I wanted another drink no one else has one dessert was served if we want to coffee or tea and when the couple we were with wanted to box up their dinner they just brought out the box and my friend had to do it herself where our server actually took my food back to the kitchen and boxed it for me. When the Crown room originally opened it was much more elegant and refine but I feel that we paid a lot of money for something that was just OK.
Food was horrible and way over priced. The appetizer looked and tasted like a Costco free sample. The soup was ok but it would have been hard to mess up soup. For the main course I had the filet and asked for it medium rare. It came out well done with no pink and tough as can be. It was also thrown on a pile of enchiladas that were ice cold. I sent back the filet and next received another filet that was still moo-ing and inedible so again sent it back to the kitchen. The 3rd filet came out and was even more well done than the first so at that point we gave up and the waitress apologized and removed my meal from the bill which I appreciated. Finally for the dessert we had a chocolate lava cake and it tasted like a hostess cupcake but was so rich that we couldn’t even eat it. I was completely disappointed in the whole experience and feel I would of had better food had I gone to Golden Corral and at a fraction of the cost. Even with my meal taken off the bill it was still very expensive. I could have easily gone to another restaurant and had a satisfying meal for the price.
Very nice staff. Mood lighting was perfect for a romantic Valentine's dinner
We waited about 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Our waiter never took our order. I finally asked after another 20 minutes of waiting. The only thing that was good to eat was our crab dip. We finally received our main dish, they were small and not good at all. Someone cleared our plates and the waiter asked if we were ready for the next course, "you're on the entrée right?". Inattentive is probably the politest way to describe our waiter. It was a waste of money to eat here to celebrate Valentines Day. We will not be back.
Fabulous birthday dinner with amazing table side dessert!
Now that I am older, wiser, richer with many comparisons of the food service industry offerings, The Crown Room at the Downs is outstanding and offers an art form in their presentation and preparation and service. The seating allows comfort with large chairs and wide tables. Enough room to be private with pleasant courteous service. The food offerings are carefully selected and so far I have been back twice to fall in love with and try more and I plan to keep going back to sample more of the menu. My husband wants to stick with his first love, the rack of lamb. We love the Bananas Foster and the Berries Chambord and I usually have Port as a dessert drink. We are encouraging all our family friends and neighbors to try it. Also plenty of parking since it is inside a casino.
From the waiter greeting us at the door to the after dinner drinks, we had an exceptional experience. Our waiter, Marty, immediately offered to take our coats and Carl, who handled drinks, kept our waters full and drinks timely. The food was excellent and the service somehow better. Could not recommend more highly, get the Filet and enjoy a great night out
Great venue food plates well. Ambiance relaxing and comfortable. Enjoyed our meal and time there
The whole building was way too smokey. The food was great, but I would probable not go back due to the smoke:(
Smell of cigarettes was off putting. Service was ok. Food was not good. Bad experience. Will never go back.
We had a marvelous Thanksgiving dinner here. The food more than pleased our eyes and especially our diverse palets. The staff was friendly and attentive. A family Thanksgiving dinner to remember.
The dinner was fabulous. Monty took care of us and the food was awesome
A hidden treasure in Albuquerque. Romantic and quiet. Very happy with service and food .
Service and food were outstanding, monte and Carl took good care of us
The food and service was great.
The Staff, ambiance, and food were fantastic! We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary there and, being so new to Albuquerque, were totally amazed at how selecting the Crown Room hit the nail so squarely on the head! My wife's maternal grandparents immigrated from Scotland in the 1920's, so she grew up knowing authentic Scottish cooking, and her grandmother was an outstanding cook. Thus, she ordered the Rack of Lamb, one of her favorite Scottish dishes, and was absolutely floored that, as she said, was "...every bit as good as Grandma's always was"!!! She was so totally delighted that she said she is going to bring her mother and sister there when they come to visit from Wyoming and Virginia (respectively), and order it for them! She told them it was "non-negotiable". My dinner was outstanding as well, but she was so delighted with hers on our anniversary, that I felt like a King for taking her there!!! Even though one has to walk past a loud casino to get to the restaurant, it is totally worth it as the atmosphere is extremely quiet and relaxing! (No joke)! We WILL be going back as often as possible!
You really should try out the food or at least hang out at the bar. The space is very nice and the services was great!! We had the filet mignon which was soo tender and tasty. The server asked if it was a special dinner and it was and he went out of his way to provide us with a special treat or treats! We will be back!!! Very good selection of food.
We had a great dinner and very good service complete with tableside flambe desserts.
The Crown Room is comfortable and nicely decorated. Cocktails were also very good.
We had a good lunch with our group of 8 for Mother’s Day. Prime rib was the overall favorite by all. Omelette chef was excellent. On dessert cart, the cannoli was the bestseller. Service started slow but picked up.
I took my husband for dinner for his birthday. We were not disappointed.
This was our wedding anniversary. We ate at Ruth's Chris and had a horrible experience at the Restaurant in Albuquerque. I saw the four course meal in the newspaper at the Crown Room and we decided to give it a try. My husband said the New York Strip steak was the best. My mother in law said she never had a meal so delicious. Everything was great. We will be back. The Crown Room is our new favorite fine dining spot. We came here five years ago from Texas so we have been trying to find our new favorites.
Perfect service, fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere!
The duck, lamb, and scallops were cooked to perfection! Wonderful service as well.
I thought the food was delicious but a bit pricey. The ambiance was very nice and they had great service.
We were very disappointed. They were out of menu items, the food was marginal at best and everything was amazingly slow. It took us 2.5 hours (most of it waiting) for dinner. This was a Thursday evening. We were the only customers in the place. We have had good experiences here before but this time we paid a premium price for a subpar meal.
A night out with good friends. We share our anniversary- same date & same year.
Love this place. The only drawback is the location.
The crown room is Albuquerque’s hidden treasure! If you want a big city atmosphere you can find inside The Downs of Albuquerqure ! 5 star dining inside the casino, one of the few restaurants you can get a Blantons on the rocks! Only suggestion is to get big ball ice cubes.
Every one treats you special as soon as you walk in the door!
Highly recommend! Great food and ambiance! 🥃👍🏽
Unfortunately, food selection was very limited for Valentine's Day. Two people in our part of six chose not to eat because of dietary limitations. We were not overly impressed and will probably not return in the future.
went for Valentine's day. disappointed with ambiance, service was robotic. because of the fixed menu, there wasn't a lot of communication with the waiter. seemed we were at a wedding. except for the whole artichoke for appetizer, the food was worth the price.
This was our 2nd visit to the Crown Room. The 1st time we were there all was wonderful. This time the lobster and butter were cold for one of my guests and the baked potato was colder than what would have been preferred. Otherwise everything was good.
The food was excellent, as always. But, they were out of a lot of items, which was odd because we were there on Thursday and they are only open Thursday through Saturday. Waiter was very nice but not very knowledgeable. And, we were the only ones in the restaurant the entire time, which just felt a little weird.
The atmosphere was very nice and peaceful with excellent service. We had Thanksgiving Dinner all four having turkey. The food was not real hot when served and mashed potatoes not from scratch. Green beans cool and not crisp. Pumpkin pie okay but chocolate cake very dry.
However, presentations excellent, beautiful service ware and lovely servers. We had an enjoyable time and will return.
The waiters, bartender, and chef were all wonderful to us. There was background music, but not so loud that we couldn’t hear each other. The food was beyond amazing, and the bartender helped us pair wine with our meal. It was a very memorable evening. I’ve already recommended the Crown Room to several people, and I hope to return to enjoy more of the menu. Thank you!
We had a four birthday celebration and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Three couples had the chateaubriand and loved it. Mushroom sauce was much better than the au poivre. I had a lobster tail which although a generous size had zero flavor. I'd say stick with the beef. The Bibb salads were nicely done. They brought us a wonderful whole Black Forest cake for the birthdays. Very good. Service was pretty good. Wine selection good.
Excellent! It's nice to have an elegant restaurant in Albuquerque for special occasions. Food and presentation were outstanding. Service was great, too. Sigh of relief. :)
Like being in a whole different city! Beautiful and service food and ambiance was perfect!
