Perfect place for an intimate celebration or just a night out with fine dining.
The lamb shank special and the bistro roast are 2 amazing meals!!!
What could be better? A drive to the beautiful mountains & eating at our favorite restaurant. We always have great service & the food is consistently delicious. Living in Denver can be chaotic so being at the cozy Bistro immediately decompresses us. We give it a big thumbs up!
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Always on their game.
Loved the ambiance and service was great. Food was very good but expensive. On the whole it was a very delightful evening. I would highly recommend it
We have dined at The Bistro many times, this time, we brought our parents, who were visiting from out of town.
Our meal was truly outstanding! Everyone enjoyed their meals, and we always appreciate when the appetizers & the meals come out fairly quickly, despite the restaurant being very full!
We went on a Friday night, and we were seated in that smaller room behind the bar, right up against the windows, and the room itself was a bit chilly. That was the only downside. Once we started eating, we forgot all about the room's temperature.
It was also a bit hard to hear our waitress & sometimes hard to get her attention, but, the restaurant was packed, and that is a good thing!
Really excellent appetizers, main meal & ambiance, we always recommend to everyone & look forward to dining at The Bistro again!
Wonderful, intimate dining experience that oozes mountain ambiance. Excellent food served by the nicest staff, couldn’t ask for a better evening.
The wait to be seated was over ten minutes long and no one was even willing to acknowledge us. Then once being seated the service was still quite slow.
We LOVE the Bistro. We work with a lot of people moving to the Evergreen area and always refer them to the Bistro as a special place to eat. Allison the owner is great as are all of her wait staff. Food and Ambiance can not be beat.
We feel like the food portions have recently become smaller, but the prices have stayed the same. Shrimp cocktail came with 4 not-so-big shrimp. We hope The Bistro reconsiders their stingy portions or we might not be going there very often any more even thought we have loved going to that little gem in the mountains for years.
The food was really bad, the ribs were completely overcook and not fresh at all. The appetizer was ok! The crab was a little smelly.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Will definitely return
We enjoyed a very nice Sunday brunch. Food was very good. We definitely plan to return to try dinner. It was my mom's birthday and this is a great place for a birthday brunch. Really good service.
Best place for Brunch in Evergreen area. Allison/owner has a passion for her business and it shows in all they do!
Really enjoyed dinner here- old school cozy vibe. All of us really enjoyed our food. Certainly different from the more trendy Denver spots (that are also great); we enjoyed the change of pace.
My husband and I came here (first time) for our 17th Anniversary and we had an excellent experience.
We started off with the cheese board ( toast points, Havarti dill, Brie and a very mild Stilton with candied lemon - yum!)
I had the Fruiti Di Mari, which was cooked to perfection with nice big tiger shrimp, scallops and salmon in a lobster-tomato broth.
My husband had the salmon with citrus mustard and steamed veggies, and excellent fried sweet potato wedges.
For dessert, we shared a flour-less chocolate torte with a scoop of coconut ice cream with toasted coconut on top. It was delish!
Our waitress was very attentive, the atmosphere was peaceful and the Bistro is what we would call very rustic. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
The only thing we could recommend is to perhaps put cushions on the chairs for they're wooden and a little uncomfortable.
We would most definitely recommend The Bistro to our family and friends!
The dinner was great, server was fantastic, and food was on point as always. Its one of the best places in Colorado and always nice to drive up to Evergreen. Look forward to our next visit.
As always, our dining experience at the Bistro was top-notch! Our food was outstanding & the service was warm, friendly and met every expectation!
We will be back....maybe for Friday night scallops!
This is THE place we take our out-of-town guests, to give them a great Colorado dining experience.
It was my husband and I's first time going since we moved up to Evergreen and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious! We will definitely share this restaurant with family and friends!
This was a great brunch and wonderful service! Great ambiance! Will be going back again!
Small Family Reunion!!! the Bistro ALWAYS Makes me Look Like Genius Picking the Venue!!!
We were greeted with a glass of wine and a smile by the owner. A friend called ahead and mentioned we would be there and Allison greeted us with settle. Amidst a busy dinner rush she was calm and classy. The bread was excellent, the food was amazing. We did not want dinner to end. We took home dessert because dinner was so good but we were stuffed. A couple hours later we had dessert at home. Amazing. The place did not disappoint. We will be back!
We like to go to the Bistro for special occasions as it has a dress code and is a bit expensive ($50 pp). That said , the ease of reservations, service and quality of food is impeccable.
It is hard to write a review for THE BISTRO AT MARSHDALE, because there are so many aspects to the experience here.
1. The food is AMAZING. I've eaten all over the world & only 4 places where the quality of the food is truly memorable. THE BISTRO is one of that exclusive group. Absolutely delicious.
2. The service is excellent. The people here are uniformly friendly, fast, & accommodating.
3. The building is a historic site and feels like a step back into frontier Colorado.
Who wouldn't want to eat here? Well, unfortunately, we no longer want to eat at THE BISTRO. Our latest experience is probably going to be our last.
1. Terrible acoustics. Echos make every sound loud and it is difficult to relax and have a conversation. Believe me, you DO NOT want to eat here when there is a party! You will have an uncomfortable time and leave with a headache. Even though this isn't the fault of the owners, in some cases it could be alleviated. While we were eating there the other night, there was a small group of people across the room who were talking at the top of their lungs. The staff should have politely asked these people to be quieter, but they let them go on and disturb everyone else.
2. Not always as clean as I'd like. Last time we ate there, they led us to a table with a dirty tablecloth that was soiled by the previous diners. Food globbed on the tablecloth that had not been changed when it was reset for the next guest.
3. Prices have increased by 20-25%, but they are now serving about half the food that they used to serve. We left hungry! We would rather pay double and have the same portions as before. And we noticed that they are relying more on cheap carbs to fill the plate.
4. Uncomfortable chairs. They bought new chairs that are pretty but actually painful. The sharp edges dug into our legs and we kept sliding out of the seat.
This restaurant is no longer on our list of faves. We probably won’t go here again.
Usually have great service there. Last night, went for the prime rib, ordered and told only ends remained, and then when ordered, suddenly it was gone. Had to ask for bread to be brought, was never told about dessert specials. Just poor service overall sadly this time. Will certainly make me reconsider coming to dinner here again.
We always enjoy eating here. We ate on the covered patio which is much quieter than the dining room. However, you cannot really hear the piano if you are not in the dining room. Great view from the patio.
We had a wonderful dinner. The server, Casey, was attentive, friendly, and was able to answer questions quickly and make meaningful suggestions. The floor show, a young male buck, was a true taste of the mountains and added charm along with the beautiful evening view of the trees, their leaves starting to turn to their fall shades. The special, three course meal was delicious. Thank you so much for a lovely evening. We will definitely be back again. It is so nice to have a wonderful restaurant so close to home in Evergreen.
My husband and I love The Bistro! It’s our go to place for special days-Anniversary and birthdays.
Birthday mixed with grandma going back to Dallas.
We ordered an appetizer and the chicken wellington and scallops for dinner. The scallops were cooked well enough but the chive cake was extremely hard and tasted as if it was left out for too long. The chicken wellington was a piece of rubbery, overcooked grilled chicken in between two pieces of puff pastry and topped with what tasted like cream of mushroom soup. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the veggies were well done. Overall, the entrees were not great. The appetizer (mushroom dumplings) was however excellent and had wonderful taste and the portion size was perfect for two. The restaurant did not seem too busy but our server went missing for half the evening. We ordered the same time as the table next to us and our food arrived at least 30 minutes after theirs. We have dinned at The Bistro several times since living in Evergreen and unfortunately will not be coming back due to the reasons listed above which is very unfortunate because this once was a very great place for the amount of money you spend. The atmosphere was very nice. The pianist was great.
I brought my wife here for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. Our server Taylor was great and she helped us make the best selections for dinner. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while waiting for our meal. The food was excellent. I had the New York Strip Steak and it was cooked medium as I requested. The vegetables were cooked "Al Dente" with some crunch and not over cooked. My wife and son also enjoyed their entrees as well. I had the bread pudding for desert and it had a crispy top and the caramel sauce was to die for! The only glitch was that there was a large party there at the same time and the bar got behind a bit and our second round of cocktails were delayed quite a bit. I would suggest that they have a contingency to help the bartenders when they have large groups. That being said, I would go back in a heart beat and this is going to be my "go to" place for special event.
It is always a treat to dine at The Bistro!
Wonderful location and atmosphere; outstanding service and food.
Every time we go to the Bistro our experience is great. A little loud this time but that's because a wedding reception was taking place. Over all we had a wonderful time.
Lovely little spot in the mountains. There was a wedding rehearsal dinner in the main room which made it much louder than normal, but the staff did everything they could to close doors and maintain a more quiet and intimate setting for our dinner. The food and service was excellent!
A fantastic dinner up in the mountains. The food was great! (not at the award winning level) but really, really good. I love the ambiance and the mountain town feel (T-Shirts / Jeans / Suits) all welcome. The September Customer Appreciation menu (for $35) was an outstanding deal and desserts were really fantastic. We loved it and will be back ... often.
Treated like royalty! Great food and atmosphere! We love this restaurant!
We sat on the sun porch which was perfect. Quieter than the main dining room. Yet we could hear the piano player. The food was excellent and service was good. Our family that was in town for a family reunion really enjoyed the evening and also thought the food was excellent!
My wife and I went to The Bistro for the Sunday Brunch. The Bristro is located in a building built in 1923. The ambiance is rustic timbered walls and what appear to be original wood planked floor, but with white linen tablecloths and napkins. We were dressed casually (nice shorts and collared shirt) and were appropriate for the Sunday Brunch.
Our food was excellent. The selections, flavor and quality, and presentation certainly reflected well on the efforts of the Executive Chef and staff. I had the special for that day, an omelette with king crab, mozzarella cheese, shallots, with grilled asparagus and dill hollandaise sauce. It was amazing and the portion size was more than I expected. I highly recommend the grilled tomato as your side. My wife had the Marshdale Omelette and again, it was very good and portion size was larger than expected. And one last thing about the food... the coffee was excellent.
Deven, our waiter, did a professional job about answering any menu question we had, and making recommendations when asked. And, our coffee cups were kept full and our water glasses were always full.
Overall, I thought the Sunday Brunch was a value for the fine dining experience set in a the rustic venue in the mointains that is The Bistro. We are from Iowa, and this was a weekend away for mom and dad after moving kids back to college and becoming "empty nesters" for the semester. The Bistro was a highlight of a great weekend.
