St. Clair Winery & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I tried St. Clare for the first time on Saturday the 13th. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time. The table was in the middle of the dining area and a cold breeze came in every time the door opened. The staff was friendly and service was good. The waitress did forget to bring a cup of coffee that was ordered when we placed our dessert order. I had a chicken, green chili pasta that was flat on flavor. I will give it another try, perhaps for Sunday brunch.
First time going to this place. Been wanting to go for a while and decided on making it our date night dinner place. Great atmosphere, good food and wine. The service was a bit slow. Our server did pay attention to the table next to us a bit more so that was a little disappointing. I would give it another try and see if service is better.
This was my second visit to the restaurant in the last 9 months passing through on travel and it didn't disappoint! Love the variety of wines and menu options. I enjoyed a red flight and shared a small plate of brussel sprouts with my guest. Delicious!! We both had difficulty picking an entree as the choices all sounded so good! I enjoyed the chicken and pasta which was nicely spiced and a very generous portion size (leftovers of course) ! My guest enjoyed the pecan crusted chicken with fig sauce. We were both delighted with our selections! Our server was terrific and very helpful. We bought a couple of bottles of wine to take on our trip! Overall another great visit and hope to make it again in a few months! Highly recommend!
We were disappointed as soon as we walked in... way too bright, lots of screaming kids, tv screens and a plastized menu with pictures. Basically a glorified Denny’s. It sounded good from the website, but we realized we’d made a mistake... not the “winery/bistro” we were expecting. We were offered a new harvest sweet blush wine, which seems like an odd choice in mid-winter. We didn’t stay, so I have no idea if the food was good or not. Oh well.
We've eaten at St. Clair's in the past and really enjoyed the experience. Granted, it was years ago. This occasion was my wife's birthday and we invited a couple to join us for dinner. The food was just average. My ribeye was overcooked, the squash was mushy. The filet medallions were so/so and the béarnaise was somewhat tasteless. The only food that was very good was the fish & chips. Wine was superb, our server was very good (Josh), and the wine ice cream was interesting. All in all, it'll probably be some time before we try St. Julian's Winery & Bistro again.
The food and wine were top notch as usual. Really great french onion soup for those with a desire for a light meal/snack. Our goal was to eat and hear a friend play music but the music was only for a private event on the patio which was not advertised as such. We had a good time visiting with friends regardless and all enjoyed their meals.
Been here multiple times and usually great! This last time the food was awful. The cheese on our cheese nosh was hard. My pasta New Mexico had a bunch of chopped green chili with no flavor and uncooked. I had small amounts of tiny hard chicken pieces. We also ordered a spinach dip which our server forgot until we reminded her at dinner. When they brought it to the table it was not spinach dip and not tasty. :(
Wine was great as usual!
The food, menu, and service are excellent. Two things are negatives but would not keep me from going back. 1. It is very loud...At least for dinner. I hate having a conversation where I have to holler. 2. The prices may be comparable to other fine dining restaurants but if you have a glass or two of wine, an appetizer and a main dish you probably can only afford to eat here once a year.
I tried the soup of the day which was a tomato bisque. It was superb. The salad that accompanied the soup did not provide the satisfying effect that should have accompanied the meal. There is not much you can do with salads except ensure that the lettuce is crisp and fresh. If that does not happen, the salad has not lived up to its potential and the meal becomes less than extraordinary. The service was excellent. Overall, of the restaurants in or near the downtown area, this one provides the best option for a business meal.
Very enjoyable experience. Food was good and waitress was excellent. Only complaint would be for the hostess—-she asked table or booth- we replied booth and then she took us to a table. Was corrected but when we asked to be seated at a particular booth she indicated it was reserved— no one ever sat there during our meal— and we did have a reservation.
We met friends here for dinner. We got a booth in the back (which I love both). It was a little tight, but I'm not complaining. I loved our table. Great service. Wine Flights were really fun and super reasonable. Good way to try several without commiting. My BF ordered the medallions and I wanted to eat every bite of his food. Spinach salad was huge (and good). All around it was very enjoyable. And I'm picky, so give it a try.
the booths are nice to sit in but if its cold and you have 4 people with jackets, the booth is not a decent size without feeling squished
noise level is something the restaurant should really work on - food was above average and waiter was good too but the noise level was constant and would deter me from coming back
Reserved a table for 6:15 and arrived @ 6:15. Upon arrival was told we would have to wait because they didn't have any tables available. What are reservations for then? Once we were provided a table the dining experience was good and the food was good but when your initial arrival is put off it's not so easily forgotten.
The waiters were friendly, although not attentive. I had the steak Bearnaise. Was supposed to be med rare. Was extremely rare bordering on raw. Way over seasoned. The bearnaise sauce was more like cheese whiz from a jar. Vegetables were soggy and loaded with pepper. Came with 3 chewy shrimp. Overall not very good. My wife had pumpkin ravioli. She was not impressed. She enjoyed her wine. I had tea being the designated driver. Never offered a refill. Sorry, St Clair. We won’t be rushing back.
We almost always enjoy St. Clair, and we returned for the Thanksgiving Buffet. Admittedly, the food was not up to their high standards. It was good and enjoyable, but I think with the buffet outside, even on a warmer day, the steam escaped more quickly causing most food to be lukewarm at best.
The wine and drinks were spectacular though. We will still be back.
I was surprised to find multiple bones in my chicken & waffles, first time to experience that at any restaurant. Red Chile syrup was nice, could be spicier. I would like some red Chile powder in the batter on the chicken, but also prefer boneless chicken. Thanks to the manager for noticing we needed drink refills. Pumpkin ravioli is nice for those wanting a lighter meal.
The food and service were really good, and the meals are priced reasonably; however, the noise in the restaurant is overwhelmingly loud. We had a party of 6 and had to shout to each other at the table just to have a conversation. Our waitress had to speak very loudly to us and I felt sorry for her because she had to repeat her self so many times as she went around the table. Unfortunately because of the noise we will not be going back.
Wonderful experience! Pleasant atmosphere; grew steadily louder as the evening progressed, but never reached an uncomfortable level. Our server, Jonathan was very attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The food was brought promptly and was delicious. Looking forward to returning.
The restaurant seated us within five minutes of our reservation time and gave us a well placed table for two. Our server was very knowledgeable about each dish and the wines. My husband enjoyed the steak Bernaise and I, the grilled salmon. Portions were adequate, but not huge. Big plus was that we were afforded the opportunity to taste any wine. We loved the wines we tasted so much we bought six bottles and were given a ten percent discount on top of their reasonable price. We will return!
The server was friendly and accommodating. I had made a reservation for 5 and 6 came and the restaurant was very good about adding an unintentional guest at the last minute.
The guests seemed to be please with their food and especially pleased with the variety on the menu.
