Originally established in 1974, Smuggler's Inn has been serving Alberta prime rib to several generations. Always a popular place for Calgarians to gather and celebrate, we are the preferred dining choice for birthdays, anniversaries, milestones or just meeting friends and family. Our prime rib is the main feature of our diverse menu, available all day, every day any way you like it. From a 9oz. prime rib, all the way up to a 18oz cut, our succulent prime rib is sure to please any appetite. Of course there is a creative selection of steaks, chicken and seafood to satisfy everyone. It would be a great idea if you saved room for one of our delicious desserts...even if you plan on sharing.

Savour additional favourites such as charcuterie, soup & salad bar, smugglers original steak soup and of course - our renowned AAA prime rib!         Smugglers is a Calgary favourite for people who are going for prime rib, oysters, steak. There is a variety of things on the menu. I had mussels, which I felt were a bit rubbery, not the texture I was remembering. Two of our party had mussels, two had prime rib, and one had calamari. No complaints about the food. We were celebrating a birthday, and the waitress presented the birthday recipient with a lovely piece of chocolate cake, generous portion.

        Compared to the old Smuggler’s Inn, the Prime Rib (medium — ordered medium rare) was dry. Menu looked good, but the prices have increased significantly with no substitutions (e.g., small soup). No salad bar anymore, which used to be a highlight. Overall, it felt like an extreme price increase, but quality has decreased. I did see that there were more dessert options than there used to be. At this point, what was supposed to be a signature offering was a let down. Not likely a recommendation or future food destination.

        Made a reservation a week in advance and was seated at the worst table in the room! Supposedly there was no option to move - 6:00 reservation and plenty of empty tables but they wouldn’t move us. The prime rib was tender but flavourless, the pork ribs were not very tender; however, the oysters and steak were very good. Our server, Marvin, was awesome! He went above and beyond to get us a decent table even though we were told it was not an option and his service was impeccable. He was friendly and enthusiastic.

        The food was fine but pancakes for $33? Seems a bit steep. And the service was slow. The waiter disappeared for long periods of time and never really explained how the brunch and dessert bar works. Missing the buffet brunch for sure. 🫤

        Disappointing with some bright spots. Ceviche and side scallops were great, as was the service. Chowder was tasty, but blistering hot. Tenderloin and Prime Rib were tough and sinewy. Both lobster tails were tough and flavorless - I don't know how to mess up lobster like that. First visit for several years, and I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

        Smugglers has a wheelchair access, Someone arrived on crutches, but was made to enter through the old stair access, go up and down several stairs. Whats the point of the handicapped ramp?
