About Shula's Steak House - Naples
The theme for Shula's Steak House is a virtual museum of the 1972 Miami Dolphins' 17-0 perfect season, the NFL's only unbeaten team. The décor includes pictures and game balls from the '72 season. The menus are hand painted on NFL footballs then personally hand signed by Coach Shula himself.
The restaurant's reputation has been built on serving the "biggest and the best", which includes Premium Black Angus Beef. The menu features generous portions, including a signature 48-ounce porterhouse steak.

Shula's Steak House - Naples Ratings and Reviews
So, my girlfriend and I decided to try Shula’s since we had tried Fleming’s the week before and I’m a steak aficionado. We made our reservation and upon arriving, the hostess did not confirm our reservation or if we even had a reservation. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things though. She proceeds to walk us to a tiny table in between two large tables that had 2 couples per table. Our server appears after about 5 mins and asks if we want wine (we don’t really drink wine) and when we declined, she asked if we had a preference for water. We do not and she disappeared to get our water. Without(!) taking our drink order. Several mins later, she reappears with our water and then asks about our drink selections. Our drink order is placed (finally!). Suffice to say, the whole night we were treated like afterthoughts. The server even commented on how small our table was, but did not offer to move us to a bigger one. Overall, we expected the service to be better at such a high end restaurant, but it left a lot to be desired. In regards to my steak, I ordered a ribeye which was cooked perfectly, but seemed a little tough to be a ribeye. Might have been a Flat Iron steak if I’m being perfectly honest.
Very disappointed with the service, the hostess did not give us the usual football greeting and the wait staff bordered on incompetent. Dined here many times and have say this was way below what I have come to expect from Shula's.
We went for my Birthday, and this time they had a card with confetti, a placard that said Happy Birthday, and of course: the chocolate cake! They even had Norman Love chocolates in a mini gift box! That was a nice touch. This was baby’s first time, and everyone was very sweet to her. They had the high chair all ready and per my request, in a location out of the way (for our ease and that of other diners). The food was excellent as usual.
Side note for anyone who does go with a baby: there are no changing tables within the restaurant bathroom or the hotel one down the hall. This does not reflect on the restaurant, just a heads up for anyone who’s considering bringing a little one!
There were 3 of us for dinner, all had steak ... two filets, one NY strip. Filets were ordered medium rare, but they were served medium. The NY strip was served with a baked potato, which was not hot; the shredded cheddar on top didn't even melt. Nor was our waiter up to par for the prices they charge at this place. Have been several times previously and enjoyed dinner, but probably won't go back.
Their food is always wonderful. This was a lunch rather than Shula’s outstanding dinner. We enjoyed lobster bisque soup (I-consider the best), The blue cheese burgers were grilled to medium rare perfection with a sweet onion jam and light balsamic field greens. Sweet potato fries were freshly cut and crisply hot.
After all, this is a STEAK house, but the looks of disappointment when none of the 6 of us ordered a 48oz sirloin were obvious and uncomfortable. This was the only restaurant I could reserve pre-Artis performance at 8 pm. Service was delivered with slightly derisive attitude and icy glares when we asked for split checks, and we were scolded for not stating that when we first sat down.
I have been here for events that were handled very professionally. We left feeling dismissed as low ticket patrons. Times have changed, folks - lighter, more vegetarian options would be nice. And courteous service regardless of the potential tip is always the mark of fine dining.
