Great food and Drinks Very clean and great service. The Prime Rib was one of the best I've ever had!
I really enjoyed the ambiance of the place and the local history. I did not like how expensive the undercooked food is.....
Frank our waiter was very personable and friendly and made our dinner more special.
The soft pretzel with cheese and the macaroons were as wonderful as I remembered both from years prior.
The Covid situation makes it challenging for restaurants right now and keeping that in mind the four of us enjoyed our dinner and evening. Thank you Frank.
We had the prime rib, it’s only served on Friday and Saturday, it was very good. The service and atmosphere were great. The baked potato comes with all the toppings, if you ask for them. The flourless chocolate cake was wonderful. The house old fashioned was also very good. Great experience and we are going back today for a Bloody Mary severed with bacon.
Noise level higher than we like, but we were on a couples date and would have gone to a quieter place if circumstances were different.
Prime rib meal was good, but everything on the plate had cooled off some before we got it.
Wouldn't recommend for anything romantic, though there is piano playing sometimes, but for other situations this place is good.
I would give a zero if possible. Absolutely the most pathetic excuse for a meal I have I have ever had in what is supposed to be a high end restaurant. The serving of prime rib was so thin you could virtually see through it. I found out it was actually 6 ounces. $45. 6 ounce prime rib. To add insult to injury, everything was cold. The baked potato too cold to melt the butter, the vegetables not a hint, And the “prime rib” not even warm. Awful does not describe this place. You could not pay me to go back.
Nothing great to say about this bar. Did appetizers and drinks and everything was nothing special. Would not go back.
Great food and nice ambiance.
The reservation stated an anniversary for our guests. We thought sure they would be given a free and s sumptuous dessert. Nothing not even an acknowledgement of the special event. This was very disappointing.
Great experience, food was wonderful & so was the staff, would recommend!
Sorry to have missed the prime rib - it’s the best! However our entrees were very good as were the drinks!
Fantastic place to grab a drink and appetizer. My wife and I really enjoyed the piano player and the ambiance of the place. Highly recommend the cheese platter and wine.
They definitely need to approve their food menu. The price that I paid for the uncooked chicken wasn't worth it at all. I got the shrimp skewers, and it was old, not fresh, tasted, and smelled like it was spoiled! The place is very nice on the inside but cold and could use some new heating system! Overall, I was very discontinued with everything except the server because he was very nice!
The prime rid dinner was delectable. I am just surprised the servers were not very attentive with 6 of them and only about 4 tables full of people. The service was not bad, but we could have used a drink check in and we were not offered the traditional bread when dining her.
Great place for quiet dinner and comfort food and a drink or two.
The salmon and shrimp was delicious! I would also say the staff was very attentive. We truly enjoyed our experience at the Ship Tavern at the Brown Palace!!
I have been there before and have always gotten the Lobster sandwich - I was sad that it was not on the menu as that was the main reason I came back. In addition on your menu I was going to order the Open steak sandwich - but as I was ordering it I was told there was no au jus then there was no horseradish and basically was told the item had changed...it seemed that everything I wanted was unavailable. The waitress was nice enough but certainly did not go out of her way to accommodate me. Overall when it was always a 5 to come - I am sorry and sad to say it is now a 2...not sure if I will come back.
Had the fish and chips and the fish had too much breading. Love the feel and ambiance of the Ship’s Tavern.
Great food and service, loved the atmosphere and had a great overall experience.
This restaurant was a pleasant experience and probably my 8th trip to this place. The history is very interesting as one of the oldest bars in Denver. Covid has affected the eating space with reduced tables but that is to be expected. Food was excellent.
The writer was very pleasant and attentive but the food was not worth the cost at all. I ordered a 8 oz. and sweet potato fries for $25. The steak had no taste, I had to sip the steak juice while chewing to enjoy it. I really wanted prime rib but it as not available that day. The atmosphere was dark but interesting lighting.
Wonderful food and service for a memorable occasion celebration.
Dinner was great. They provided free champagne for my phenomenal girlfriend. I truly expected to pay well over $250 for starters, steaks, and several drinks. It was well under that! Highly recommend this place! Full of history!
Great service and food. Also felt very safe. Ambience awesome
It was ok. The waiter was way too busy with 5 tables to check on us. We had to ask for anything we wanted, bread... refills... steak knife....check... I came here 8 years ago and it was a much more pleasant experience.
Since COVID started, this was my first night out at a restaurant. After 6 months of being cooped in my home in Texas, we decided to come to Colorado for a week. We started our stay at the Brown Palace, one of my favorite Denver hotels. I was so pleased to learn that they are now part of the Marriott family.
Because of COVID, reservations were highly recommended. I really want to compliment the servers and the hosts and all the staff at the Ship's Tavern. They were so pleasant and really made our dinner special. I felt safe and the food was outstanding. The appetizer special was calamari, and their prep was amazing! Not greasy, just deliciously crisp. My meal was the shrimp and salmon with grilled artichokes and other veg. Amazing! I highly recommend this place, even in the time of COVID. Great wine and beer selection too.
It was an enjoyable evening out for our trip to Denver.
Wonderful service with beautifully presented food.
Nice open ambiance. Friendly service and good food.
The Ship Tavern is still as charming as we remembered it. A lovely place for a special dinner.
Try the prime rib!
Stayed at Brown Palace so this was a convenient option, especially with Covid affecting other area restaurants. Server was great. Prime rib was very good. Fried chicken BLT had no lettuce on it. The macaroons were tasty but something failed in the process of cooking them. Texture was off. Probably just one visit here but glad we checked it out as part of the story of the hotel.
Although an old bar in a destination hotel, this has very minimal ambience. The woodwork is not at all ornate and other than some ship models, there is no effort to impart any character to the space. There were a couple of TVs playing sports but otherwise nothing happening. The French Onion soup was very good, but everything else is no better than you can make at home. Our server was inattentive. Although I saw another server check on his tables, ours did not ask if we needed anything when our food was delivered. I ordered fish and chips but had to call our guy over for vinegar, ketchup, salt and pepper. We also had to ask for silverware. I had a beer while waiting for dinner and told him I'd like another when the food came. He didn't follow up on that until we were nearly done eating. Won't go back.
Super loud, definitely not an intimate setting. Waiter wore a mask but kept moving it to speak and fondling around his mouth and face, totally defeats the purpose of wearing a mask. Food was really good, but the ambiance looks nothing like the beautiful photos, more like a hole in the wall tavern vs, an up-scale tavern in the "Brown Palace". Despite the food being good, I would not eat there again.
Prime rib was not available and the wine list was minimal.
Food is fine but service is very uneven. Our waiter disappeared after dessert and we had to ask someone to get our bill. Then we charged the meal on our card, not to the room. Next morning we hen we checked out, we found $61 in Tavern charges on our room. The front desk removed the charges without problems. We will not eat at the Tavern again due to these service problems. Very disappointing!
2 out of 3 loved it! Husband was not pleased with Cesar salad. Very small, too much dressing and cheese. Charcuterie plate was very large and varied. Fish and chips great. Chowder good but could have been warmer, a bit on the room temp side.
Very good service
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in Denver! Love the piano bar on Friday nights and the prime rib is out of this world.
The food was good for bar type food, they had some higher priced items if u want. Ravioli was good fries were good and philly cheese was good and service is good and everyone helps each other out. I would go again
