After our lunch at the Selkirk Grille we are not inclined to return any time soon. The service was acceptable, although a second cup of coffee would have been welcome - but was not offered. The Mussels were tasty enough, but not sufficiently filling to be listed as a main. My Lamb Burger was loaded with blue cheese ..so much that it dripped onto the plate and my fingers and the taste of the Lamb was overpowered by it. The French Onion Soup was good but we were surprised that pieces of bread were used rather than a single crouton. We enjoy the ambience of the restaurant but it was rather loud during our visit due to a rambunctious 3 year old. Not the Restaurant’s fault obviously, but not very appealing.
We really enjoyed our New Year's dinner. The service and the food was great. The only challenge we had was the parking. There was no wheelchair parking available although I had been there a month before and there was parking available at that time. I understand that the parking is controlled by the City of Calgary and they were having some kind of light show and changed the available parking. I feel that our experience at the Selkirk Grille once we were inside was fantastic but somehow accommodation should be made for customer to park that are there for dinner.
Very disappointing. Food was bland and cold. Would not go back.
Service was slow even though the restaurant was half empty. We had to pour own wine as there was no service in that regard. The French Onion soup was mushy and terrible. Two spoonfuls and that was it. The Fish & Chips were edible but not great as they used to be. Sadly this restaurant has slid into the abyss. We won’t be back anytime soon sadly.
Great place for late Sunday lunch or early dinner. Friendly helpful staff. Had the Gnocchi's with a nice glass of red wine.
Very few vegetarian choices. No entrees but they made a vegetarian risotto when asked.
I Was previously given a 10% off coupon when we dined here for a special event.
The acting manager said it had already been used ( it hadn’t) and wouldn’t honour it. That was disappointing.
Prices have gone up a lot but that seems to be at every restaurant since the pandemic.
Excellent! The food was absolutely delicious from appetizers right through to dessert. Our server was attentive and fun and the overall atmosphere was festive without being too noisy. Can't wait to come back again!
Not bad, service was nice and the food was amazing
Excellent as always! Even though the restaurant was busy, the food came out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time.
Delicious quality meals, outstanding service and atmosphere!!
I made a reservation and they gave us a table next to a door when it was -20 outside. We asked to move to the middle of the restaurant where it would be warmer. The restaurant had one other table seated at this time. The waiter suggested a table for two next to an electrical panel and the bar area. We said no and move one table over. The food was a 2/10 for both salmon main and crab cake appetizer. The waitress was nice and brought coffee refills after dinner. I think she could tell we weren’t impressed with our meals. Overpriced for the food quality. The location is beautiful and quiet. Free 90 minute parking. Don’t forget to register your license plate in the machine! I would recommend the cafe but not the restaurant.
Lovely atmosphere, lots of parking, courteous staff, good food. Very nice experience
The food was excellent, we had the mussels and gnocchi with a soup of the day starter. The service was excellent friendly and efficient. Thank for an enjoyable evening out.
An outstanding room, with outstanding service every time we go there.
One of Calgary's "hidden gems".
Food was great. Service outstanding. Only down is they need a Christmas tree and some lights to make it more festive. We will be going back. Love the place and people.
Wonderful atmosphere for a brunch and our waiter Allen was terrific.
A great experience, we had a lovely time and want to come back soon.
Half of the food served was not up to par - fish was over cooked on the outside and cold in the center - crab cakes were tasteless and cold in the center. There was some consideration on the bill however this was a disappointing experience after many previous great meals … hope it is a one off
As usual, the food was terrific and our server was, in a word, amazing!! The Selkirk Grille is my "go to" restaurant in Calgary. Always a great experience!
This was not our first time at Selkirk Grille, but sadly one dish that we ordered was below expectations. The total bill was adjusted accordingly.
We would certainly go back; i think the poor dish was an anomaly.
This is truly a hidden gem in Calgary
Great evening to celebrate our 35th Anniversary!!!
Great value for the food served,
Interesting menu, reasonably priced including the wine list.
My only comment is that I find the environment cold, chairs , tables, walls and bar are all wood,
Place needs some warmth with fabric, upholstery, more comfortable chairs etc,
Lighting is too bright, lunch environment not really for dining.
Staff friendly and service great.
Great food - as always with generous potions. I had the Sirloin Steak and my Husband had the Pork Schnitzel and both were delicious. We started with the baked Brie - which is actually deep fried and served with a compote and artisan crackers - this unique twist on a classic. This is the first time we’ve been back to Rouge since August 2020 and pandemic lockdown so it was a welcome treat to go to one of our very favorite restaurants in town!
All around well done and very nice.
Excellent food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere……..three of us had fish and chips, one had a burger, all nicely presented, good portions. And honestly……one of the best fish and chips ever! Highly recommend it. Without a doubt, we shall be back.
Have been at Selkirk Grille a number of times, and have never been disappointed!
We ordered the Prime Rib. It looked like a 1/4 inch slice of ham cut with a band saw.
The taste was fine, but the eye appeal of a thick, garlic smelling piece if prime rib was not there. It was our anniversary and I booked 3 weeks in advance. I was very disappointed.
The restaurant had 3 other tables occupied and was dead silent. There were 5 staff working. Their was no smell of food.
If we ever go there again, I would avoid their "prime rib" Saturday night special.
The offered an elk dish and a wild boar dish that sounded interesting.
Bottom line, the 4 of us found it adequate. Certainly not special.
The food here is outstanding service is absolutely wonderful and Thursday date night value is incredible. Recommend it to anyone, it is very quiet so you can actually have a conversation.
It was a wonderful place to have supper with my husband, and the staff were very nice! 10/10 would definitely go again
Everything about this place is great. The food, wine, and service. And excellent prices.
We had a fantastic dinner and I look forward to our next visit! Thank you!
We always enjoy the food and service. Our main course was only warm not hot but still tasty. We’ll be back!
Had the burgers, fries and caesar salad and all were very good.
We really enjoyed our meal here. I love the ambience of the restaurant. Very quiet, good food and wonderful staff. I had the New York Striploin, my husband the Schnitzel. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and shared a strudel for dessert. I will be going back.
Good appetizer selection, average main course selection. two soup selection would have been good as I am allergic to only soup offered.
For my wife’s birthday we decided to celebrate it with our kids at Selkirk Grille. We’ve had meals there in the past and the food has always been excellent. The food this time was also excellent. We chose the prime rib special for ourselves (we looked at the online menu before arriving) and the kids ordered off the kids menu. We enjoyed the food but were disappointed with the server. Perhaps he was having a difficult day, but he wasn’t very friendly, barely spoke to us & did not mention the daily specials or recommendations. He refilled our waters and checked on us once, but never asked us about our evening our how we were were doing. Also, when I reserved our table online there is an option to select the reason for dining and I selected “birthday.” Obviously nobody reads that section and nobody asked about my wife’s birthday. We’ll still be back, but hope our next server is friendly and outgoing.
Exceptional experience, fantastic food, and our server Rachel was an absolute pleasure! Can hardly wait to come back to Selkirk Grille!
Excellent food and service. Nice location and lots of parking.
Our food was awful, had the Turkey special, the bun was so hard and the turkey was extremely dry. All six of our meals were very disappointing. Won’t go back or recommend.
We love the Selkirk Grille. It is our go-to restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC and good value. Although business casual is the typical dress code, we did find some customers very inappropriately dressed for the atmosphere the Selkirk Grille typically invites. Our usual table was not available, so we were seated on the other end of the restaurant, and unfortunately, were seated next to some very rude customers. This put a bit of a damper on the end of what should have been a perfect evening. Even so, we will definitely return time and time again.
