Ristorante Lo Stella
At " Lo Stella" Ristorante you will find the original recipes from previous generations like Pesto sauce, Bolognese sauce, marinara, fish ravioli, vegetable ravioli, pappardelle, tagliatelle, pizza and a lot of Colorado meat and fish products cooked in our "ligurian" style.
Lo Stella Ristorante has also had 25 years of great success in Tokyo, Japan until 2013 when Alessandro decided to move to Denver to open this authentic Italian Restaurant.
Each of our meals was amazing. The Tricolore salad is always a must, and all of the pastas are amazing. It’s alwsys fun to watch the kitchen at work. This is a true, authentic neighborhood gem!
Great authentic food and service. Come hungry and save room for dessert .
Always great service and amazing food like only few restaurants i know in the US
We love this restaurant. Always great service and food.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Denver. Very authentic.
Service was slow - which we thought was unusual considering how early it was and that it was a Tuesday. Not surprisingly, service went down hill as more folks and larger parties rolled in. Despite the lackluster service, the food was good but the choices for wines by the glass were disappointingly limited. Overall, not bad but also not great. For the price point, we were hoping for a better experience.
What a wonderful dining experience! My sister and her husband were visiting from Kansas City. My husband and I wanted to take them somewhere special and Lo Stella lived up to the occasion! None of us had been to the restaurant before but we will definitely return! We ordered three pasta selections: the fish raviolis with a creamy shrimp sauce (my favorite), the walnut ravioli (also yummy!!!) and the pesto gnocchi which was the best gnocchi I’ve ever tried!!! The pasta dishes were so fresh and the selections were simply delicious! We tried two appetizers: the cheese and meat sampler which was divine, and the mussels which were in a light, garlic sauce and cooked to perfection!! We all raved about how much we enjoyed the entire evening! I travel frequently with my work and eat out often. (Italian is my favorite). Lo Stella is now at the top of my list for Italian dining!
GREAT tastes like your in Italy (real italian food)!
I've been to Lo Stella several times and it always delivers a Italian food experience! The food, service, and atmosphere are all amazing! Go to Lo Stella for a date night, friends outing, or even a family dinner...highly recommend!
Lo Stella is a wonderful neighborhood spot. Warm, but lively with authentic homemade Italian food. It always feels like a great find.
We have heard favorable things about Ristorante Lo Stella from friends, and so were looking forward to giving it a try. Before we went, though, I scrolled through the reviews on Open Table and while almost all were positive, the ones that were not gave me pause. I'm glad we decided to go ahead and honor our reservation because, quite honestly, in retrospect the bad reviews were baffling. Most had to do with portion size. I'm not sure what those people expect in terms of serving size because our portions were very generous, as were those on the plates of the people seated at adjacent tables.
We started with the salumi board, which could have been a meal in itself, and then had the tagliatelle w/Bolognese sauce for our entrées. For dessert we split an order of the lemon cake. We were stuffed! Everything was quite tasty; we look forward to a return visit.
Lo Stella is our go-to restaurant before we see a play produced by Curious Theatre. The pasta, sauces, and salads are always top quality.
Friendly service, very good food, have been there multiple times and have never been disappointed! Highly recommend it!
Fantastico! As usual. The gnocchi was fresh and light and the pesto was authentic Ligurian. I also loved my Aperol Spritz. And the service was gracious and spot-on. I love Lo Stella! Grazie, Leo!
Love the personal attention from the owner. Food is excellent and the ambiance is terrific. Love it prior to theater or after Friday nights at DAM.
As usual, the Tagliatelle was excellent, the Vitiano excellent. Ibelieve Lo Stella is the best Italian food in Denver.
Great staff and food is really good.
to costly for the small portions..pasta overcooked
Attentive service, nice wine list, authentic food.
We’ve been to Ristorante Lo Stella several times and it is consistently very good. I only wish there were more selections on the menu. Then I probably would go there more often.
We had a lovely evening. The food was fabulous. We started with the taliere, which had a lovely selection of cheeses and meats. Fresh, homemade pasta made the tagliatella great, and loved grandma’s recipe for the bolognese. The scaloppina di vitello was cooked perfect. Waitstaff was informative, efficient and fun. Highly recommend this place and will definitely return.
This was our 2nd time there before The Curious Theatre & it was excellent. Being that it was a holiday weekend and a Friday night, it was much more crowded than the first time we went, but they were able to handle the crowd quite nicely.
Love this place but getting food out was a challenge. Great waiter.
We had dinner as a family and split four of the five pasta options family style among four people. The seafood ravioli was by far the best. Everything else was very good.
Great space—great food!
Lively scene. Nice menu. Very noisy so it was difficult to converse. Food was lukewarm.
Love this place! Service is wonderful with warm personality. Pastas are excellent. Who doesn't love a meat bolognese. Gnocci and Ffsh ravioli dishes are also great. Mixed on the entrees and on the small side.
Authentic delicious Italian restaurant I’m so glad we got to find this gem. From appetizers to desserts every single item on the menu is made fresh from scratch.
The only authentic Italian restaurant in Denver
Great food! Great gluten-free pasta option. Would like them to get a gluten-free bread, however. Just a suggestion!
We had never dined here before and we all (6 of us) loved it. We will definitely be back. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The food was very good
Great atmosphere as well
Real Italian cooking right here in our neighborhood - Chef/owner and many staff are from Portofino, Italy, "8th generation restaurant." On this occasion, 2 of us had the branzino - Mediterranean sea bass - one of my favorites. The simple preparations in northern Italian style (Ligurian) enhance flavors rather than obscuring them - a plus is the sauteed spinach side, plus a little salad. If you want richer selections, there are pastas and pizza, too. The service is attentive, though on occasion it can be slow, especially if they get slammed with a lot of people at once. It's a neighborhood vibe, and run by people who really want you to have a good experience and a delicious meal.
Great place to go after an afternoon visit to the Denver Art Museum. Nice atmosphere, informed servers, wonderful NYC-style Italian fare that all four of us enjoyed....especially the seafood salad (for two easily), tagliatelle bolognese, and a fabulous Multipulciano wine. We'll surely return soon, plus pass along word of this treasure of a find.
Heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and gave it a shot. They know how to make you feel home from the moment you walk in the door. Got to talk to the floor staff about the history of the restaurant in Portofino and to the chef who is very knowledgeable and tried to accommodate my requests (as long as they don’t go against tradition he said)
Food was great impeccable service and the wine... Amarone is delicious! I will definitely be back see you soon fam
Great food, ambience and service. Genuine food served by a family with a restaurant in Italy.
The best Italian Restaurant I have ever been in Denver for sure. But for Sure you need to know what Real Italian food is! I go almost every month!
Diffident, stand offish server who refused to customize anything and who delivered one entree which was not initially cooked properly, after everyone else at the table had finished. Barely apologized and didn’t comp anything, not the meal, not dessert, not even coffee. Good customer service is everything. Doesn’t matter how good the food is.
This place is legit, authentic, Italian food. You will not be disappointed by their homemade pasta, their extensive wine-list, or their charming atmosphere. I have never had a bad interaction with the wait staff here - they are so good to their customers. Plus, their portion-sizes are ideal - you leave feeling "perfectly full," without any excess weight or heaviness, even though pasta can sometimes make people feel that way. 10/10 recommend this place.
