Rio Grande - Denver Ratings and Reviews
Super Busy when we went but our waiter was great - kept updating us and we were comfortable he would get to us shortly. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we were in no hurry and enjoyed the atmosphere and great weather outside. Food was good and margaritas - well outstanding just about sums them up!
The food, service, and drinks were awesome...they had us upstairs off to the side...the seating was a tad weird and the lights were bright...the noise level in the next room was a tad loud and they must have been having a huge group party because it was packed. But where we were was good...it took a bit of maneuvering to get out and to the bathroom, but otherwise it was really good. I would go back.
I usually love The Rio. First, they sat us way in the back when there were plenty of tables in the front where all the natural light is. The place wasn't busy at all. I had the crab and shrimp enchiladas--they were just ok. The drinks took a very long time to arrive. We all had margs or beer. It was just ok, the whole experience.
Made a reservation through OpenTable and the hostesses claimed they couldn't find it, but when my date arrived they called her by my name- so it must have been in the system. They gave me the option of sitting at a tiny table right by the entrance or behind a storage rack full of tequila. Needless to say both were unacceptable and unless I am on the patio I will find somewhere else to spend my money. I think the service was poor on this occasion.
I have had better service in the past, let's hope this was a hiccup.
Also, Limiting customers to 3 of their margaritas is a cute marketing ploy, but if they enforce it on a 220lb bodybuilder such as myself, I have to call shenanigans - they are no where near as strong as they claim. I wouldn't want more than 4 anyway, they're not that great.
We had a double birthday party for a 30th and 40 the birthday before heading to the Pepsi center for Cirque de soliel. Ben was our amazing server and his awesome and prompt service made this event seamless and so memorable. Thanks to all the staff at the Rio for making this a night to remember for us all.
I hosted my sisters 21st birthday here. I had a reservation for 8 and was shown right to our table.
Our server was wonderful (younger guy with shaggy brown hair- serving upstairs-Saturday, May 15). I have served at various different places so notice when servers really know what they are doing- and he did. He kept waters and drinks filled and was right on key with timing with food!
The Rio has space upstairs if you are looking for more private events or larger reservations!
