Lamberhurst Restaurants

We were a party of five celebrating a milestone birthday. Our welcome was warm and we had excellent service at table. The meal and drinks were delicious. We had two vegetarians and this did not present a problem other than limited choice.

The menu choice is always good and the standard excellent and our visit this time met all our expectations!

Staff were very attentive and friendly and we struck lucky with the weather so opted to sit outside and within the walled garden. Food was very tasty and in a relaxed atmosphere

The Maitre'D does a slightly aloof Stanley Tucci act, but the rest of the staff are brilliant. Even preparing an on the spot amuse bouche for my partner, who does not eat carbs, or anything containing sugars. They also brought her a pickle, instead of the chutneys, which Mr Tucci had previously told us was not available. I had a chicken trio starter which was the second best I've ever had. My mains, a Lamb Kosha Mangsho, was the best curry I have had anywhere, same with the Peshwari naan. The dessert was a let down. A rather insipid (I could taste the raising agent), dry and heavy date "pudding", which was more like an old-fashioned "pound cake". And a ginger stem ice cream, who's texture was superbly silky, but needed more "bang" to cope with the spicy main dishes. The room is warm and pleasant.

Excellent as always. Though the prices have gone up a fair bit since my last visit.
