Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro
We were celebrating a birthday. Meridith was a superior server. Appreciated Robin seeing that a meal was replaced when the eggs were cooked improperly. We had a great meal and celebration!!!
Great brunch. Enjoyed the experience and the food was awesome.
Amazing food, loved the salad with beets, pistachios and port salut cheese! Excellent service and ambiance!😊
For our first time being there it was amazing and is now a definite favorite of ours!
Food was amazing, our waitress Algeria was on point with all of her recommendations & very helpful & friendly! Other staff was great & I cannot rave enough about our meal. It was superb!
We were three people and shared four of the larger portion appetizers: Winter Agnolotti Duo; Steamed Black Mussels; Crispy Duck Confit Eggrolls; and Smoked Trout & Potato Pancakes. Each was very good to excellent. I was particularly fond of the last two. Just the right amount of food. I was surprised to read in another review that the wine list was just OK. I thought it was very good. We had a bottle of the Turley Juvenile Zinfandel, one of my favorite wineries. It usually retails for $35-$50 and was $62. A very reasonable restaurant markup.
Took a dear friend for her birthday dinner. We both ordered the tenderloin with the mashed potatoes and it’s blue cheese. Both were undercooked but we consumed without bickering. Ceasar salad could have used more dressing. The duck egg roll was outstanding. We will be back to visit the cellar!
We love going to Zinc it never lets us down. Food, service, atmosphere are always superb.
Poor service (not the waiters fault but an under staffing problem) and mediocre food at best. Very expensive and uninspired meal. I won’t go back again
Excellent dinner and dessert was also delicious. I would recommend this place if you are in Albuquerque. Birthday dinner for 2 came to about $90 before tip with a shared appetizer, 2 main courses, a flight of wine, and dessert.
We absolutely love Zinc. We are frequent customers averaging twice a month, but 3 times the last month. The food is consistent & the wait staff is above average! Our favorite tables are upstairs because of the view & the noise level. However don’t change a thing! We are definitely returning customers! P.S. The Onion Soup is the Best in Albuquerque!
Great service. Very helpful server. Delicious food. The chef created a vegetarian pasta for one of us.
We consider Zinc our “go to” restaurant. The food is consistently good and always innovative. The service is great. It was a little loud but primarily because we had a big table of kind of noisy folks next to us. I would recommend zinc to any one any time.
Special no-cream lobster “bisque” was absolutely amazing. Thick broth had depth of flavor. Lobster won tons on top were crispy and the perfect complement. It should become a winter regular on the menu.
Went on New Year's Eve. They were overwhelmed. Being from a "restaurant family," I could see how things were veering off course. They chose to serve from both a prix fixe and a la carte menu that had numerous overlapping items in every category. The results: confused customers and increasingly frustrated servers in the weeds trying to negotiate with an overwhelmed and confused kitchen. A ribeye that bore a description of being grilled was pan-fried. My desert, included in the prix fixe menu, was never served. I like these guys and their cooking. They have good bartenders. The prix fixe menu was the right idea. But I don't understand their undermining their own good ideas. Kind of Restaurant 101: You cannot be everything to everybody all the time. The servers need to be taught to manage themselves and their reactions to diners on "high stakes," "high volume" nights and not think that showing up for work is as tip-worthy actually working. They should also be advised against indulging in less-than-witty repartee with customers. Their attitude is part of the ambience. Just sayin'....
Wonderful experience. We have been celebrating New Years Eve at Zinc for several years as well as other special occasions and we have never been disappointed. Good job!!
Great food, tasty and well-preserved. Good wine list. Service was attentive, without being overbearing. Pricing a little over the top, which means it will not be a frequent choice for us.
As always the service was great the food was amazing and the live guitar music a perfect accompaniment to it all.
I love Zinc, just not pleased that we can't reserve a table for dinner in the Cellar. As long as you plan on having a meal this really should be an option.
We had a fabulous time at Zinc!! We enjoyed dining on the balcony level, giving my fiancé a great view of the kitchen action. He enjoyed the steak au poivre and I had the fish special. We got the confit duck egg rolls as an appetizer- YUM- and the truffles for dessert. We will absolutely visit Zinc again, next time we’re in Albuquerque!
My wife and I went to Zinc for a celebration, and the wait staff treated us in a friendly, helpful, and sociable way. The food was great, the atmosphere pleasant and celebratory, and the staff went over and above to make our night out a blast.
Family (including a 6.5 month old) Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful! Great wine list, food, and atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon!
We had reservations, the restaurant wasn't full, but they still wanted to serve us on the bar top. When we asked for a table, they sat us in an a table closest to the kitchen. At first I thought maybe we were underdressed, but we were better dressed than most of the other guests coming in. Food was ok. $160 for 2 drinks, an appetizer, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. My salmon was nice, but not great, my husband said that one of his scallops smelled fishy and he later had an upset stomach. For that price point, I think we'd prefer a restaurant like Ruth's Chris where the food is consistently great. Might keep this place on rotation for happy hour.
Good food and service!!! Not sure why I am obligated to write a review with 50 characters minimum.
While the appetizers were great, the main courses were overcooked (we were supposed to have mid-rare entrees) and lacked flavor- I would come back for drinks and appetizers but probably won’t be back for dinner.
I frequently ask the server for advice on what to order. Works everytime.
Great food and service
We shared the fixed price dinner as we were going to the show at Popejoy. Service was excellent. Presentation of food was very nice. And arrived in plenty of time for us to enjoy dining and get to the show on time!
Amazing service, unique and delicious menu, great ambiance...so many wonderful things to say. Love this place for any occasion...a treasure for ABQ!
Server was well informed, helpful with suggestions and comments. The staff was attentive. The food was presented well and courses spaced. Food was delicious.
The service is great. Save room for dessert, it is always worth it!
A quiet (so we thought) post-holiday Sunday evening in Albuquerque. There wasn't a large crowd in the dining area so we were seated quickly and attended to with very good service throughout our evening. A large group already in the room partook in very lively conversation and dominated the otherwise peaceful ambiance. (Inside voices please!)
The evening's menu was seasonal yet varied.
We enjoyed our salad starters - (is the Caesar salad pre-made/dressed?)
My companion enjoyed the steak and fries - I had the duck with Brussels sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. Both entrees were very tasty.
I enjoyed two selections from the "by the glass" wine list - a California Chardonnay and a French burgundy. My companion, a bit of an oenophile decided against wine with dinner - sticking with water.
Overall an enjoyable evening!
love Zinc. the food, the wines the service, the setting. A restaurant with excellent food and wines that takes the time to be sure the wait staff has sampled the offerings, even meeting with the wine distributor so their recommendations are always excellent. There were three of us so three entrees: the swordfish- the special entree - was fine - swordfish served domestically is so often dry, but this was not; the steak frites was terrific, the steak thick and cooked to order, the frites crispy and very good; and the pepper steak as always was extremely flavorful and excellent. We enjoyed the special salads very much and the deserts were as advertised - a sundae and the chocolate mousse torte was especially good - light and delicate. Atmosphere - with the wooden floors and the warmth and comfort of the cooking area - makes Zinc always feel like home.
Always a pleasant experience
Excellent food and service with knowledgeable server and good selection on menu. They were very welcoming and friendly without being gushy. Just nice people and great dining. Worth a visit!
The tenderloin was a scant end cut with fat. Not at all what I expected based on the last time I ordered it. The table next to us was very loud (screamers for attention laughing at their own jokes, etc.) zinc is not responsible for the latter but the former is not excusable. Big bucks for a crummy meal. Having said that, zinc is one of our favorites and we will dine their again. I just hope this is not a harbinger of a great long downward slide that successful restraunts seem prone to suffer when they forget how they became successful.
I don't think that we've ever been disappointed with a meal here and we've probably enjoyed 25 dinners and one brunch. The smoked trout and potato pancake appetizer is reason to come on its own but we do enjoy the entrees, too! Our one criticism is dessert - it just never seems to be at the same level as the rest of the menu and that was true this time, as well.
I decided to eat downstairs in the Cellar Bar. It was quiet, subdued lighting and enjoyable. I had the mussels appetizer followed by the Atlantic Sea Scallops. Handmade fresh tuxedo fettuccine, roasted cauliflower and exotic mushrooms tossed with Capesante sauce. YUM!!!! Service was as usual attentive. I finished up by going upstairs and having Bourbon Pecan Pie in a Jar which is a Glass of milk gelato, candied toasted pecans, butterscotch bourbon sauce. Also YUM! And Patrick is my favorite server upstairs. He pays attention to you when you let him know what you're in the mood for. Zinc has been my favorite restaurant since it opened almost 14 years ago!
A nice brunch menu with a good drink selection. This is a favorite place for us!
