Wewatta Point Ratings and Reviews
My first visit to Wawetta Point. Close to Union Station/Union Station Light Rail. Early Saturday evening dinner before CSO. Not very many patrons at 5:30pm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wedge salad was excellent. Especially liked the Seared Tuna entree. Very good local IPA on tap. Will definitely return.
My wife and I were on a spontaneous date night and looking for a venue we had not been to. She wanted seafood and I pass by this new restaurant daily as it is across the street from my office. The front host and wait staff were all very courteous and attentive to all the patrons. My wife's entree (i forget what it was called) came in a spicy sauce which we both thought was delicious. I had one of the specials that night -- yellow fin tuna -- which was good, but could have used a sauce of some kind. Surprisingly the place was a lot louder than I had expected. The restaurant was only a 1/3 full when we arrived, but half full by the time we left. There was a 8 top behind us with a few small kids which may have made the place louder than normal. If you are on a budget this not the place to dine. Two entree's, an app, a glass of wine = $100+
Server was barely intelligible. Spoke rapidly and mumbled even when asked to speak up, and to speak more slowly. Yes, two people have hearing loss, but the other two don't. They couldn't hear him well or understand him either. In addition, server is a wiseass. Bantering between customers and server can be fun. Being served by a wiseass isn't.
We needed to move to another table because the first one was very unsteady. We attempted to correct the wobble but was unable to. Server did nothing to assist.
My husband ordered a club soda with lime and bitters. Drink was served without them.
Server tossed dessert menus on our table then walked away without describing the desserts.
When I made the reservation I told the person on the phone the occasion was my friend's birthday. There was no acknowledgement of that at any time while we were in the restaurant.
The food was good. Oysters were great although overpriced. Limited dessert menu. Cappuccino not available. Minimal selection of hot, non-caffeine beverages.
Please note my family was in the restaurant business for decades. I am not a novice when it comes to dining out. None of the four of us can imagine why we would want to returned to Wewatta Point.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! My friends and I received the best customer service from the time we walked in, to the time we left. Every single person working here was so attentive and kind, and the food was amazing. We tried a bit of everything, the mussels, ceviche, clam chowder, scallops with risotto, spicy tuna on crispy rice; we loved it all. The Geisha cocktail was also refreshing and almost too easy to drink :) I will absolutely be back and will recommend it to many others.
Went out for restaurant week - the great thing here is that the restaurant week stuff is also on the regular menu, so mixing and matching is super easy. The waiter and busser were both professional and actually really entertaining and quick-witted, and of course the food was excellent (I had the linguini with clams, she had the scallops).
We have been meaning to try Wewatta Point, so restaurant week was the time to do it. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations. I love the fact that it isn’t very noisy. We enjoy having a nice conversation with dinner, and the atmosphere was perfect for that. I travel internationally for a living, and rarely find seafood in the States that I think is interesting and cooked perfectly. Our meal was both. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Glad we went!
First time here; it's a fairly new place. Found it through Denver Restaurant Week. The restaurant is fantastic, everything is created with attention to detail and every part of the meal was great -- appetizer, main course, dessert. Definitely plan to return.
We went for lunch on a Saturday. It was really empty which didn’t bother us but makes me a little worried for the restaurant. I had oysters which were excellent and well priced. They also had a bottle of sparkling wine and a carafe of juice which was fun and a good price. The space is beautifully decorated - a nice place to hang out. I would definitely go back.
We wanted seafood so a friend recommended Wewatta Point. He works downtown and has been there for lunch. We went on a Friday night and it was almost empty. I think it’s a business neighborhood that clears out at night, but there is a lot of new condo construction in the vicinity so that could change. The food was good, imaginatively prepared without being precious, and our waiter was attentive but not obnoxious.
The Glacier oysters were fantastic, and the clam chowder had a lot of clams in it, which made it especially good. We shared the barramundi entre, and liked the lighter Asian preparation. The bread pudding for dessert was delicious! We ordered a crab cake and my partner didn't care for it, so our server brought us the clam chowder gratis, an unexpected, but very nice touch. We would go back.
Valentine's Day they tried to.sit us next to another couple. Tables way to close to each other. I understand lots of business lots of people to move through but a romantic night like that we wanted privacy and be able to talk. That didn't happen and wasn't willing to help us.
Food at Wewatta Point is excellent and creatively prepared. Oysters are very good and they offer more than one type all priced comparably to slightly below competitive restaurants. They have a good wine list priced fairly. The staff is truly exceptional. All are friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and preparation and the wine list. I'm making Wewatta Point a regular on my list of dining spots.
The food was very tasty. Excellent Cioppino, the John Dory was amazing. Appetizers of Spicy Tuna and Crab Deviled Eggs were great as well. Coconut Cake was delicious and a gigantic portion!
We had a 630p reservation, there were a few tables filled but increasingly got busier. The staff is awesome. Our server was excellent too
I was really excited to try this new spot for a special occasion. The food was okay, nothing special. Honestly, it was over priced for the mediocre quality of food. We had great service, but that was only if we could get our server’s attention. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, but we were seated for nearly 20 minutes before a drink order was taken. I really wanted to like this place, but I’ll have to be convinced to go back.
