Wewatta Point Ratings and Reviews
We've been hoping for sometime now for a first class seafood restaurant to open in Denver. Thank goodness ,it's finally arrived. I mean a restaurant in which you don't have to peel the shrimp or have a crab cake that is not 100% crab! A place where the New England clam chowder or the Cioppino provide everything you'd hope for in taste and spice. A place where the servers know their stuff and treat the diners as welcome guests. We've now dined there twice and our second experience was as good or better than the first and the first was pretty darn good.
The wine list, though not extensive is perfectly acceptable with choices to satisfy most tastes.
If there is a negative, it's that lobster (1/2lbs.) are only served on Thursday nights. No tank.
There are sufficient choices, however, to compensate. I think the addition of a lobster tank would top off their ability to satisfy the seafood menu.
Nonetheless, we intend to be very frequent regulars.
We love Wewatta Point - it's our go-to at least once a week. Our neighborhood seafood restaurant. Typically our family goes for oysters and mussels during happy hour, and this time they took me for Mother's Day brunch which was delicious. Everything here tastes amazing, and the service couldn't be better. Shout out to incredibly friendly Victoria at the front; Chad, Charlie and Edwin are beyond excellent servers and Jason, well you couldn't meet a more kind and accommodating manager. What a great staff they have!
My friend and I had dinner here for the first time. Not only did the hostess over hear that we were celebrating a past Birthday of mine (by a week) Jason the General Manager was very attentive and they treated us to complimentary bubbly and cake with a candle. Also the service was on point, the dishes were delicious and the staff was very friendly. I’ve already recommended quite a few people since a couple days ago. Thanks Wewatta Point for an Excellent dining experience! ~Jennifer Blake (Union Denver)
This was great. The staff were very welcoming and warm. They were great at recommend our drink selection and food. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed enjoyed the evening even though we were the only seat there. We got in 30 min before closed and never felt rush or treated as an inconvenience. We finish 30 min after close and never even notice as the level service never changed. I would recommend this place for a great bite of sea food or a drink.
Disappointing. The first time we dine here it was outstanding. Now I returned and the food was not that good. Everything needed more spice to make it taste good. I should have brought a bottle of hot sauce with me. Service was excellent but I may not return.
Just popped in for oysters, cocktail, and a mini-meal (kind of a tapas thing). The oysters were fresh and tasty, but the variety was limited at 4. A newly created large appetizer of mushroom ravioli with a lobster claw and broiled Brussels sprouts were excellent. The clientèle adjacent to us were also favorably impressed with their food and drinks as well.
This place has fantastic food and service. Amazing brunch options - really great dry Prosecco (not some cheap versions that other places use for mimosas), amazing crab Benedict (lots of crab!). Also, the homemade pasta primavera is delicious. This place is fairly new and not yet very well-known, which makes it for a quieter more peaceful experience, which I definitely appreciate. The service team was great - very knowledgeable and providing great recommendations based on what we were in the mood for! Additionally, they have some of the best seafood options in Denver. Overall - hidden gem. Highly recommend!
We started out with the seafood tower that included fresh oysters, ceviche, shrimp and crab and it did not disappoint. We also shared the shisito peppers and the barramundi entrée. The seafood is fresh, service was outstanding, and the prices were great for the food that you get. We will definitely be back again! Great neighborhood gem!
Easy to find, great atmosphere. We were greeted and taken to a table immediately. The service was exemplary. We had a couple dozen oysters on the half shell and cocktails to start. The oysters were fresh and tasty. Dinner was well prepared and served. Overall great experience. We will return and recommend for a classy night out.
Poor quality of food that is over priced. For example, fish and chips. A great cod that looks like a doughnut ball, very greasily breaded with French fries fro 19+ dollars and it doesn't taste as good as other ones I've had for less than $10. Seafood looks bigger on the online menu but smaller in actual orders. We walked in thinking we'll be eating at an "upscale" restaurant only to feel that I've wasted money on less than mediocre food.
Our group wanted fresh seafood so we went to Wewatta Point on a Thursday evening. . The place was fairly empty and the music was low enough that we could talk across the table. Kolrabi slaw was good with just a hint of sweetness from the currants. Clam chowder had chunks of clam that were tender and not rubbery. Some people had the fish which was very good and cooked to perfection. Lobster roll didn't have lots of mayo on it and the lobster was flavorful. Cioppino had lots of fresh seafood in a tasty tomato broth. Will be back to have the 1 1/2 pound lobster dinner for $35 on another Thursday night.
My first visit to Wawetta Point. Close to Union Station/Union Station Light Rail. Early Saturday evening dinner before CSO. Not very many patrons at 5:30pm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wedge salad was excellent. Especially liked the Seared Tuna entree. Very good local IPA on tap. Will definitely return.
My wife and I were on a spontaneous date night and looking for a venue we had not been to. She wanted seafood and I pass by this new restaurant daily as it is across the street from my office. The front host and wait staff were all very courteous and attentive to all the patrons. My wife's entree (i forget what it was called) came in a spicy sauce which we both thought was delicious. I had one of the specials that night -- yellow fin tuna -- which was good, but could have used a sauce of some kind. Surprisingly the place was a lot louder than I had expected. The restaurant was only a 1/3 full when we arrived, but half full by the time we left. There was a 8 top behind us with a few small kids which may have made the place louder than normal. If you are on a budget this not the place to dine. Two entree's, an app, a glass of wine = $100+
Server was barely intelligible. Spoke rapidly and mumbled even when asked to speak up, and to speak more slowly. Yes, two people have hearing loss, but the other two don't. They couldn't hear him well or understand him either. In addition, server is a wiseass. Bantering between customers and server can be fun. Being served by a wiseass isn't.
We needed to move to another table because the first one was very unsteady. We attempted to correct the wobble but was unable to. Server did nothing to assist.
My husband ordered a club soda with lime and bitters. Drink was served without them.
Server tossed dessert menus on our table then walked away without describing the desserts.
When I made the reservation I told the person on the phone the occasion was my friend's birthday. There was no acknowledgement of that at any time while we were in the restaurant.
The food was good. Oysters were great although overpriced. Limited dessert menu. Cappuccino not available. Minimal selection of hot, non-caffeine beverages.
Please note my family was in the restaurant business for decades. I am not a novice when it comes to dining out. None of the four of us can imagine why we would want to returned to Wewatta Point.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! My friends and I received the best customer service from the time we walked in, to the time we left. Every single person working here was so attentive and kind, and the food was amazing. We tried a bit of everything, the mussels, ceviche, clam chowder, scallops with risotto, spicy tuna on crispy rice; we loved it all. The Geisha cocktail was also refreshing and almost too easy to drink :) I will absolutely be back and will recommend it to many others.
Went out for restaurant week - the great thing here is that the restaurant week stuff is also on the regular menu, so mixing and matching is super easy. The waiter and busser were both professional and actually really entertaining and quick-witted, and of course the food was excellent (I had the linguini with clams, she had the scallops).
