Reservations of 12-20 guests are available at lunch.
Brilliant as always. Delicious oysters and Fideo. They are no longer just serving orange wine which is a good development.
To good, every time ! London’s best neighbourhood restaurant
Fantastic! Fresh, seasonal, well cooked food. Couldn’t fault it and the building is beautiful. The beetroot was outstanding! Perfect way to while away a few hours on a Sunday!
Lovely place, excellent food. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
It was our second time at the restaurant and everything was perfect again. Service amazing, food is incredible and a good selection of wine and cocktails.
I booked a table for two around 10 days in advance for an anniversary meal. When we arrived we were given seats at the bar on rather insubstantial bar stools. This is not my idea of a special meal and I complained that we had not been asked if that was acceptable. I have a disability and issues with my knees make sitting on a bar stool difficult. The waiter was unsympathetic and unapologetic. We were told that we could have the next table for two available but had to start our meal and wait forty minutes for this. I found the service unacceptably poor, particularly as I explained about my disability. I would not recommend that you book at Westerns Laundry.
Such a great find! We went on a hot summer's evening so were able to enjoy drinks in the courtyard. Staff were very relaxed about us delaying sitting down to eat. It's basically one big semi-communal space so it's either very buzzy or a bit noisy depending on your preference but we had no problem with it being too noisy for conversation. Since they recommend 7/8 dishes for four people to share It's a fairly limited menu (we didn't quite go through the lot). But everything we tried was delicious - smoked sardines, raw courgette salad and crispy pig's head with pickled red cabbage were stand-out dishes (pig's head is diced and cooked in breadcrumbs, you don't see the whole thing). Service super-friendly and made us feel very relaxed but also highly efficient. Even with four bottles of wine total bill was only £50 a head. Thoroughly recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed all the food (best crab and mussels our party had ever experienced). Service was exemplary, noise levels were too high for older member of our group but perfect for younger crowds.
Especially nice on a summer evening with a glass of wine outside to start!
Another visit to this oasis on Holloway Road - excellent tapas (fish is the speciality) and an adventurous wine list. The restaurant's custom of seating diners on a corner of a shared table rather than opposite each other helps to reduce the inevitable noise.
Food was excellent, absolutely outstanding! And the service was just fantastic. We were a booking of 6 and we all loved it!
Absolutely loved every dishes and the overall experience. We would definitely go back and recommend it to our friends
Loved the atmosphere and the staff were great and food some of the best we have eaten in a while - since Primeur, the sister restaurant. will def go back
This was a high end dining experience in a relaxed environment. Really recommend.
We had eaten at is sister restaurant recently opened in Fowey and were hopeful it was going to be as good. It was , the Oysters were excellent and so was the Huss and sardines . Rum baba was the only disappointment . It’s not cheap for small plates but we loved it and for us a real treat . Service was excellent , friendly and efficient . We will return
Superb experience. Food, ambiance, service... everything outstanding!
High quality food, lovely atmosphere and great staff
Great place for a 'nice' night out with family or friends. Menu is really good - though not too many vegi or kosher friendly plates (but it is a "sea" restaurant so what did I expect?!)
The service was brilliant. And the place had a great feel to it.
Solid good food - some dishes better than others but altogether good foodie quality.
I think it is important is serving Salted Cod - like Portuguese bacalhao- that you say. Our Cod was far too salty to enjoy, and I am a salt fiend normally. On asking the waitress if it was salt cod she said it’s just Cod. I asked her to taste it as I could not eat it. She took it to the chef. Came back and just asked Do you want another? No acknowledgement or feed back from her or chef. We said yes and received same salty dish... it WAS Salt Cod. If the chef had tasted it he would have been able to tell us that was how it should taste according to him, and we would have ordered something else. In this case, we ate what we could as the place itself is lovely and I did not want it to affect our evening further. I feel some opinion should have been stated rather than not a word said...also not asked at any point if we were enjoying it. Given we were opposite each other at the counter station, I think a little more engagement and charm would have been a welcome thing! I would still definitely return for ambience, menu and guys in front of house.
This place is a perfect Islington gem for a special occasion. Fresh ethically sourced seafood and other small plates, with unfussy service, and nice natural wines.
Great spot - very happy they could accommodate us last minute. The small plates were fantastic and the servers were great at walking us through the unique wine list. A bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip.
Lovely experience, fantastic food and atmosphere. Really enjoyed our visit!
Nice food but far too expensive for what it was compared to other restaurants of a similar calibre. The atmosphere was buzzing but probably too loud to hear each other if you're more than a two or three. The service was also not on point. We frequently had to ask for our wine to be topped up and in the end asked for the waiter to leave the bottle with us as we were tired of trying to flag them down the whole time.
We really enjoyed our first impromptu visit here ! Service was great and food was excellent. We recommend the sweet breads :)
interesting food in a relaxed atmosphere. Service is friendly but can be a bit disorganised at times.
Beautiful. Like a San Franciscan hideaway. Magical.
Noisy, buzzy venue packed with an in-crowd. Food inventive and good, especially a magnificent crab fideo. Enjoyable wines, again not the obvious ones. Service very laid back but efficient and pleasant. Proximity of tables put conversation at a strain. Would certainly do again.
Always love the atmosphere at Westerns - omen of my favourite places in London. Only comment I sent the food isn’t always a little too salty overall. But! Doesn’t stop me from going and loving the food.
went there for a treat Saturday lunch. Food is delicious and fish cooked perfectly. Would definitely return and recommend
It was the hottest day of the year and a seat at the bar opposite the kitchen made for a pretty intense experience... not my favourite dinner as a result. Food was good and I’d go back but only in winter as the kitchen makes the room oppressively hot unfortunately.
Everything was perfect! Hidden gem in the heart of Highbury
Always gorgey! Ben and the rest of the team are great, place looked lovely in the evening sun and food was incredible as always <3
Would definitely come again. Really interesting food and broad range of options with great attentive service.
Such an unexpected oasis of relaxed, summer dining, which managed to feel personal and intimate despite the place being full and a shared dining table experience. Loved the food, the wine, and the service. Nothing bad to say.
Another super evening at Westerns Laundry with delicious food and always friendly and helpful staff. The ever varying menu means you can keep coming back and never get bored. Thank you
The food and the service and the atmosphere were great - the only let down (which really does matter) was the wine which was universally poor (and we tried A LOT). The wine list would put me off coming again - otherwise I'd be there all the time!
We enjoyed our meal at westerns laundry.
Main waitress was excellent, but there seemed to be a language barrier with or second waiter.
Food was very good, but not as special in their sister restaurant, primeur.
My biggest concern was the wine. We ordered a cava as aperitif and we got something that was pesticide free and made using low tech methods. It tasted nothing like usual champagne or cava and I think the staff should have pointed this out at the beginning and we would have enjoyed it more or just ordered something more mainstream. My friend didn’t drink hers, shame!
Amazing food and great service! Highly recommend!
