About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for brunch
  • Good for special occasions
Located within Denver’s historic Tramway Building, originally opened in 1911, The Nickel pays homage to the space that was once used to collect fare from customers riding its resident streetcars: a nickel. Just as the building in which The Nickel is housed has a storied past, the dishes found on the menu at The Nickel all have a story. We proudly serve menus that incorporate the highest quality ingredients from farmers, ranchers, distillers and craft producers, and is comprised of dishes that are easily recognizable and feel simple, but eat complex.

Beautiful dining room, great brunch menu and portion size. However, the service was absolutely unacceptable. The dining room was not busy at all, yet both servers spent most of their time hiding around the corner out of sight. The service was inattentive at best.

Dusty's service was flawless. Just the right amount of checking in and leaving us alone. The food was overall very good but a bit overpriced even for Denver downtown. Over $50 for risotto and chicken. The lamb chops were absolutely the best I've had in years. We had the sour bread toast with mushrooms and the eye appeal was Gastly , excuse me , over $20? although the flavor was great. Reminded me of school chipped beef on bread. I would have used toast points with a small bowl of hot mushroom gravy as a spread. Just an idea

My husband and I had a wonderful brunch. It was the first time eating at this restaurant. We stopped by before going to the ballet at DCPA. The food is great. The staff is super nice and professional; our waitress was a doll and very attentive. The Nickel has a lovely appealing atmosphere with its beautiful tall ceilings and fabulous windows. Highly recommend this place as a go-to restaurant before the theater. (We live near Parker, CO, so it is a bit of a destination for us to go on a regular basis). Sincerely
