The Hobbit was a bucket list destination for my foodie wife. She said it was the best dining experience she has ever had, so that was good enough for me. The food, the wine selection and the general ambiance were all a delight.
As always, one of my favorite restaurants to go to for special occasions. I will definately keep going.
It was fantastic! We had a great dinner but it was expensive.
Hobbit has been here for a quite awhile. It's a great place to come and get spoiled. One of the complaint would be their sign outside the restaurant where it is hard for people to notice especially at night. This place is not for someone who finishes their meal in 20 minutes. Our last outing took lil more than 3hours. Their quality of meal is very good and servers are great and will explain nicely if you have questions and also accommodate what ever your needs are. One time we had friends who doesn't drink any alcoholic beverages and they gave us sparkling cider and they were very happy. One down side is when you come menu is limited since it is set course so my wife always look for that first. Hors d'oeuvre are large in quantity and very good. So are the appetizers. Of course main is always good until demand coffee. Usually nothing to complain about.
Sadly the experience has changed, but they did a great job trying to accommodate the new requirements, which are not in their control. Quaint, quiet atmosphere that is great for a nice date night or special occasion - not suitable for kids. Food was just "ok" flavor-wise, but this place is all about the full experience so I still suggest giving it a try. Incredible wine selection...
The meal was delicious. The wine pairing was perfect. Alexander was fantastic.
The best restaurant in Orange County CA. Everything from the moment you enter is perfection. The staff could not be more kind and professional. This is a must eat experience.
We decided to celebrate some special occasions at our favorite "special occasion" restaurant. Although dining here during the pandemic is different than before, the food, service and ambience are still amazing! We missed not being able to enjoy appetizers in the cellar and to peek into the kitchen during intermission but the staff's friendly interactions with us more than made up for the lack of the ability to roam. We also appreciated the served appetizers! We found that we sampled more than we usually do in the cellar and found more favorites other than the puff pastry, salami, cheese one! We look forward to our next special occasion when things maybe go back to a bit more normal but would highly recommend this unique dining experience!
First time here but won't be our last. This place is perfect for anyone that wants to just have a relaxing dinner and a conversation. Intimate, quiet and just all around an amazing experience. Food was awesome, if your like me and can never make up your mind about what you want to eat the pre fix menu is the best i didn't have to sit there looking over a 3 page menu. Perfect place for an anniversary, birthday, meeting or date night. I would/will definitely recommend this place to everyone.
A wonderful experience in every way. The food was outstanding and the service was the best I’ve ever had.
Every bite you take the flavors pop in your mouth and pallets. one of the best places to go if you really enjoy GREAT food.
It was a wonderful evening. Great food and courteous service. It was the first time for two of the party of 3, and they are already talking about going back!
The food was amazing. The service was hand down the best.
Man this place is awesome. One of the best sommeliers I’ve met. So friendly and truly an unforgettable experience.
I enjoyed it.
Excellent service! Attentive and gracious. Went through the courses and remembered to even bring out the special dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday. Would definitely come back !
It was an amazing experience from start to finish. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and she was incredibly pleased with the night. From the delicious food to the kind staff, the hobbit is definitely a must for those looking for a nice night out.
Very nice experience. A 5-course meal that did not disappoint.
Great experience. Excellent food, great service and wonderful time. We will return.
What a unique and wonderful place. They feature a prefixed menu and very nice wines. They will accommodate special dietary needs as well and they include a fish choice. The staff and family are warm and hospitable. The Hobbit has rich history as the building used to be a farmhouse at an avocado and orange field. If you have a larger (8+) private party you can dine in the wine cellar which is also quite special. The steak was like butter and the vegetables super fresh. We had a nice leisurely dinner and long conversation with a team who cares about your experience. 😎
Greta time with awesome friends excellent service and food!
Asked my partner to be with me and it was a perfect night. Food was amazing. Our server and service was amazing.
Always a pleasure! We love this place. Always delicious and special. Experience is always lovely.
Everything was good... love to come back
Always a superb dinner. The appetizers are reason to go alone!
The main course, esp. was FINE (fresh, sweet, tender, tasty). The staff (at least 3) were extremely attentive and considerate and pleasant. The wines were Just-Right.
Food and experience was excellent. Worth the value.
Such an amazing experience!!! The wine paring is a must.
Decorating details were outstanding. Everything we ate was delicious.
Great evening definitely would recommend this restaurant for a special evening!! Everything was awesome, from the second you walked in the door!
This place was wonderful and 100% worth the price. The service was exceptional and I loved the ambiance. The food was also delicious and both my boyfriend and I are picky eaters so we were nervous at first but ended up eating everything!!
The best restaurant experience we've had! Attentive, first-class service, from Executive Chef Michael, waitstaff and sommelier. Eclectic, delicious 5-star courses with exquisite presentations. Superb wine selections. A 3 to 4 hour special event you'll never forget.
Nice Ap platter and all courses were outstanding. Wine pairings were good compliment. Recommend.
I love this place and was happy to spend my anniversary there. The staff is always very friendly and the food is to die for.
Always a pleasure to dine here! Everyone was gracious and attentive!
If I had to pick my favorite restaurant of all time, it would be the Hobbit. They lived up to their lofty standards once again. We got the wine pairing, which I would suggest. The sommelier was knowledgeable. When he pointed out the subtleties of each wine, I was able to spot them better and appreciate the pairing with each dish. The prix fixe style is great, you end up getting a wonderful variety of dishes without thinking about the price of each thing (which I tend to do). I could go into detail about each hors d'oeuvres, appetizer, side dish, etc., but suffice it to say they are all delightful. Make a trip to the wine cellar while you are there and learn about the history of the place.
The name of this restaurant “The Hobbitl immediate brought to mind that Lord of the Rings reference but I was glad that nothing about the restaurant referenced the movie. It was so elegant.
We were the first to arrive for our anniversary dinner. And it was so special with the Christmas tree behind the glass was next to our table. We visited the wine cellar, asked questions. Took photos.
We added the wine pairing option to our dinner. All courses were equally amazing! We were so full by the end that we couldn’t finish the dessert but we did taste it. The mistake we made was ordering a cocktail during cocktail hour. Because champagne is served in the first course!
Staff was so pleasant, service was exceptional, food was incredible and they even accommodated my husbands dairy allergies. My husband said this was his favorite restaurant experience to date, and we’ve been to other Michelin star restaurants so that says a lot. I want to go back too.
Great restaurant with delicious food, exceptional service and an enviting atmosphere.
I have enjoyed the Hobbit many times over the past 30 years and have throughly every experience, including my most recent visit. The COVID BS has forced the Hobbit to serve in tents in the parking lot. As expected, the Hobbit staff didn’t miss a beat. Food was the usual high standard, service excellent and the tent was well heated.
