Contemporary French
The Hobbit offers a 7 course Prix-fixe menu Wed-Sun with one seating per evening. Cost per person is $92 (plus tax, tip & beverage). Our food is Contemporary Continental; a reference to its encompassing many world cuisines. We begin the evening in our wine cellar** where you are handed a flute of Hobbit Champagne. Hors d'oeuvres are placed throughout the cellar.** Sommelier Amy Cody and wait staff will be there to help you choose wine for your dinner, with over 1,000 labels to choose from! Guests are then invited upstairs - you will be served a Seafood first course then a fowl or light meat, followed by a salad course. After you enjoy intermission; , take a walk, relax on the patio, then return to your refreshed table for sorbet. The main entrée is served complete with accompanying vegetables. Dessert arrives, along with a list of after dinner drinks and liqueurs.

**Please note how our evening runs may change due to California's restrictions following Covid-19 Guidelines.

Far and Away the Best of the Best restaurants in the USA, nea world. Pleasant atmosphere, relatively quiet, Relaxed. Fine and delightfully prepared/served foods. Good variety of wines and more than most. The staff, from Matt to the cooks were more than kind and informative. We've liked it for almost 50 years!!!

We so enjoyed our dinner for our son’s birthday. Have been trying to get there for 3 years and finally remembered to make reservations in advance. It exceeded all expectations from the warm and wonderful but not intrusive staff to the creative food pairings. Definitely going back!

Our dinner was delightful, starting with an array of hors d'oeuvres and a glass of complimentary champagne (one could then purchase wine pairings with the meal, but we did not). We were then seated and had several courses, each of which was lovely and delicious. The highlight for me was the duck confit over polenta with fresh vegetables. The wait staff brought bread a couple of times (as if there was not enough food...!) and were excellent about answering questions. They were friendly and kind, as was the chef. The evening was relaxed, pleasant and enjoyable, with French songs playing for most of the meal and the gentle atmosphere of a home transformed for dining.

We had an amazing time! I’ve been wanting to go for years now and it met my expectations. The food was amazing and the Winter Old Fashioned was so delicious! I definitely want to go again.

We had probably the best table in the house, which was awesome, and our wait staff and the sommelier were outstanding. Love the fact that they offered a wine pairing option, and the time in the wine cellar to start is always fun. I don’t eat red meat and they made accommodations for that, which was the only part of the meal that wasn’t great - halibut which was dry and fishy, and just boring. The salmon alternative to beef Wellington was delicious. Overall, aside from the one fish dish, another visit to The Hobbit experience that didn’t disappoint!

This is my favorite special-event restaurant. I've been going here for almost 25 years and have never been disappointed. Six fabulous courses (including delicious appetizers and champagne in the wine cellar to start) and wine pairings. My dining party always looks forward to our visit, and the staff is super friendly and informative and attentive. We were there four hours and enjoyed every minute.

Utterly fabulous. My only criticism is that, for some of us oldies, the evening ends pretty late. We were served dessert at 10:30, which is past my bedtime. Other than that, you can't do better!

The entire experience is amazing. We start with a cocktail hour where you can either go to the small courtyard of the house or a couple of rooms upstairs. Then go down to basement for appetizers and champagne. There are 10+ appetizers and each of them is delicious. Then comes 5-course sit-down dinner. You can have wine pairing for $50 or select what you want during appetizer hour. The first half of the dinner came with scallops, duck confit and a frisée salad. All of them were delicious and perfect portions. After a 15-min intermission, we had the main entree which was the mushroom stuffed filet mignon, or you can opt for salmon for a small supplement. The steak was done perfectly. Dessert was a chocolate roulette and strawberry sorbet. The staff throughout were attentive and fun. We got to tour the kitchen and had a few words with the chef. We had been to the restaurant 6 months ago with friends and this time we took our in-laws visiting from the UK. All of us had the most wonderful evening.

Dinner was beautiful to look at and delicious tasting. Presentation and taste were exceptional. The service was impeccable. They used small touches of personalization to make the experience special for us. My daughter had a wonderful time.
