Great food, great staff, great wine list. A perfect neighborhood place that also doubles as a destination for a date or creative experience.
The drinks and the meal were fantastic. We got the family short rib and it was delicious and all the sides that came with it were great. Can’t wait to go back.
One the best dining experiences we have had in Denver either pre COVID or during. Menu is creative. The bread service is off the charts plus that bone in short rib is one of Denver’s best plates. Go here!! Edward and the team created great memories on a snowy night. Thank you!!
The Fifth String is one best dining experience I’ve had. The food is delicious, balanced and well thought. The service is incredible. From the hostess to the bartender to the servers and the folks bussing the tables - every single person was kind, attentive and friendly. Will recommend again and again.
One of the best restaurants in all of Denver! Great quality meat and vegetables!
So good. So, so good. highly recommend as everything I’ve had to date has been fantastic. Wine list is dangerous but wonderful.
The food was outstanding, from the oysters we had for appetizers to the short ribs--which were delicious and Fred Flintstone in size!-- and served well. Although we were dining outside, there was a heater near our table to keep things warm.
We love this place. We used to go here when it was under previous management/name and it was a fave. I was broken hearted to see that it had majorly closed. But wow, the new team has done a great job reviving the space. First, its the service. The staff and bartenders are great. Be sure to try the Joan of Arc and ask the story behind the drink. Worth the trip right there. Ambiance is relaxed - Mile High with a Southern accent. The food is amazing, and you can tell that a lot of care goes into making it right. Beet salad. Bacon wrapped pork loin. I could go on, but you should try it yourself. Outside is my second favorite place to sit - after the bar. But any seat in the house is going to treat you right. Support this local gem. See you there.
We sat outside and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The fried eggplant is one the best side dishes we've ever had! I highly recommend The Fifth String to anyone looking for a great night out.
We had the most amazing experience at The 5th String. WHAT an incredible dining experience. We enjoyed being able to see the kitchen from our seats. The drinks were on point, the appetizer was amazing and the main course could not have been better.
We each enjoyed a glass of champagne, we had the Heirloom Tomato Appetizer, the steak entree, and for my entree I ordered two other appetizers: Saganaki and a few of the Country Ham Croquettes.
I HIGHLY recommend the Country Ham Croquettes. One of the best bites of food I've eaten recently. The waiter was a jewel as well. He was very attentive and friendly.
One of the best culinary experiences I've had. I'll definitely eat at The 5th String.
It wasn't our first visit and it won't be our last -- this night we just stopped in for cocktails and dessert. And it was outstanding as usual. Do yourself a favor, sit in Hannah's section and order a Smith & Cross old fashioned.
Best meal I have had in a long time. A great new addition to Denver! Food was excellent with good service and good value. Can't wait to come back.
The food and drinks were delicious. We had the family dinner of short ribs and it was easily the most well-made short ribs we've ever had. Our server was very nice and tried her best to keep us posted on our food. The only thing negative was that the food took a long time to arrive. We understood that the family dinner would take longer than normal since it's stated on the menu, but even the dessert took a while to arrive.
Otherwise, this restaurant serves great food.
The food was amazing! I can't wait to get back there! The drinks (Old fashioneds and Manhattans) were amazing as well. The outdoor seating was perfect and the reclaimed wood decor fit my tastes perfectly :)
Greeted warmly by Gene and seated promptly at a nice table for four outside. Ollie was our waiter. Great knowledge of the menu and recommendations of what plates work well together for taste and quantity of food.
Quality of food was outstanding. Obvious that every dish is made from scratch every time.
Prices fair. Will be my new go-to place!
Food was excellent quality with lots of flavors, worth the money
Amazing food and Amazing staff! This place is a treat for those who truly value what it takes to create such extraordinary dishes.
This was our second time here, and I think it was even better than the first. We have yet to try one of the larger family style plates, but we’ve tried just about every small plate. All of them are as good as the next! It’s becoming one of our favorite spots in Denver and we look forward to our next visit to The Fifth String!
A delicious meal, great service, outdoor dining made the evening special! We’ll be back.
Outstanding. We will definitely take our out-of-town friends here when they visit! We were expecting a menu similar to Old Major, but were unexpectedly delighted with the new menu. The seafood was fresh and delicious. Blue Crab toast was to die for, oysters were some of the best I’ve had, scallop ceviche had layers of flavor. The sharable lamb Italian sausage portion was plenty to feed 4 and was delicious for leftovers too! Everything was delicious and varied. The drinks were yummy and the service was perfect. Hidden gem in the neighborhood.
Management and serving staff have gone out of their way both times I’ve been to make our occasions special. Some of the best in town. Food and wine list are delicious. Can’t get enough of the beet salad.
Unbelievably delicious food. Amos has knocked it out of the park.
I returned with family this time. We took advantage of The wine list and sharing plates. It was all beautiful and de-lish!
AMAZING! This used to be the "Old Major" that unfortunately went down due to COVID. We had a gift card to Old Major but Gene, the manager, was very gracious to let us use the gift card at the Fifth String. The Dee-Lish-Ous (non-alcoholic drink) is AMAZING! AMAZING crispy potatoes - get them! You won't regret it! Prices seemed a little steep at first and the portions seemed small, but you leave feeling full, for sure!
The Fifth String may be unseating our favorite restaurant Root Down in all categories. If I could give 6 stars for service I would. Hannah was our server and we've never had anyone like her. Funny, energetic, super knowledgeable, and personable. She felt like a family friend by the end of the meal.
The food was outstanding. My teenagers who normally inhale their food, savored every bite. I watched as my son cut his rabbit angliotti into actual bite sized pieces and then close his eyes while chewing! A miracle. There was not a morsel left on any of our plates. Everything was spiced correctly and tasty - no salt needed.
The meal and drinks were pricey but we had the most expensive stuff on the menu. I'm sure you could enjoy a meal at FS for much less.
We had an amazing meal here. There were 5 of us and we asked out server for help. He ended up choosing our entire meal from apps, to entrees, to wine pairings. Every bite and sip was excellent.
Get ready for an explosion of flavor to hit your taste buds! They knocked it outa the ball park. I wish I could recommend one dish in particular, but everything that hit my palate was beyond words. The wait staff worked together like a well oiled machine. They worked hard, and looked like they were enjoying their job. Put this gem on your must visit list... you won’t be disappointed!
Incredible new spot in Lohi, highly recommend!
Best new restaurant to lohi neighborhood! Chef Amos & his staff are doing big delicious things
My husband and I came here for dinner two nights ago and had a great time! Everyone who we were in contact with were very kind and welcoming. Servers Ali and Colin were both very knowledgeable and helpful with food selections for dinner. We will be back for dinner for sure! Thanks for a wonderful time-Arminda
Great people. Scrumptious food. Bartenders made me as a single diner feel very welcome.
First I want to thank Amos, Hannah & Ollie for making our evening at your wonderful restaurant fantastic! The food was beyond exceptional from the oysters (west coast yum) to the rabbit pasta, beet salad and delicious dessert. Every taste was so delicious and even the drink selections that were suggested were great. We go to a top restaurant every weekend and now that Acorn has shut down this is our new favorite go to place. It means a great deal to foodies like us when the chef and the owner comes to your table and just does not do a fly by but actually talks to you about the food and the restaurant and it shows they have a passion for their food, restaurant and customers. We will be back...soon!
Caleb was amazing and represented the restaurant with class and sophistication! Highly recommend the oysters and gnocchi!!
Great food. Great service. Portion sizes are small unless you go family style.
It was our first time here but it won't be our last. The heirloom tomato salad and the grilled squash w eggplant were shockingly divine. Don't snooze on the veggies. But then the salmon and the bacon wrapped tenderloin were sheer perfection. And a special nod to the bartender for keeping Smith and Cross rum behind the bar... order yourself a rum old fashioned.
Just absolutely delicious. Every single dish. Very accommodating of restrictions.
The owner came out to welcome us shortly after we first sat down. The ambiance was incredible, the food was to die for, and the overall experience was beyond great. Its a new restaurant opening during a pandemic, so I am really praying this one is able to stick around.
Hopefully, this well deserved review will cull additional attendance. They earned it.
We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed all the staff. The executive chef and owner came over to our table and, in addition to our server, three other staff members stopped by to check on us. Our 2 1/2 year old son mentioned something was a little spicy, and someone heard him. We did not ask for anything, but they brought over some fresh cut strawberries for him. Each dish we had was better than the one before. Looking forward to going back.
Super meal. Get the Scallops and the gnocci. Chef came by to talk about the transition from Old Major to 5th string. Very Covid Friendly night out!
