My wife ordered the Maine lobster and we were both quite disappointed. The portion was very small, and nothing was remarkable at all as far as the diner's presentation. We were unable to tell whether this was indeed a true Maine lobster. It was cut in small pieces and mixed with spaghetti's type pasta. Also, if you order a steak, be aware it won't come with a steak knife.

We almost ate here on 2/17/2018. We waited an hour and a half for the food. My order was wrong, as I ordered pork not beef, and basically it was a disaster. It didn’t have to be. After waiting what seemed forever, we were told the kitchen was backed up and...basically lies. What most likely happened is they forgot to put in our order, forgot what we ordered and then gave us the wrong order. Bottom line is...mistakes are made, it happens. We waited a long time and the were BSed that it was the kitchens fault. I would have understood and accepted our plight, but became mad when we were lied to. We left. Didn’t eat. Wouldn’t go back.

Our server was fantastic. He was slammed and handled it like a champ. It was busy, so they seated us in what seemed to be overflow seating—several tables’ worth—in the private dining room upstairs, which had much less ambiance than the main floor we glimpsed on our way in and out. Understandable, but I wish I could have sat in the main room, I think that would have changed my whole experience. The wine list is amazing. The food was delicious, well-prepared with quality ingredients, but in my opinion not creative enough to warrant a $49 price tag for lobster carbonara. But it’s a lovely place, I left wanting for nothing. I don’t regret the splurge, but this wasn’t a super memorable experience.

The lobster and crab salad had none of the freshness that distinguishes great seafood. It was substance with no particular outstanding taste. I have no desire to return.

The scallops and Scottish salmon were to die for! Not just the preparation, but also the presentation. They have earned their reputation.

Valentine's dinner great. Food and service excellent. Sitting in the back section in as set of three 2 person tables 6inches apart killed the ambiance in a big way. Wrong strategy for people trying to have a romantic dinner. Greed often kills romance.

It was Valentines day, and we were enjoying a leisurely meal.
Some later seated folks became rather raucous - such that we had difficulty hearing our own conversation. The Compound managed to find us another table in a quieter location. Service continued without interruption - our Entrees found us in the new location. As usual, a good experience with premium food and wine in Santa Fe.

Overall a great evening. Dinner at the bar of The Compound is a uniquely wonderful experieionce. Great food, both the dinner and bar menues are available and wonderful people-your own companion and whoever else had the foresight to make the reservation (a virtual must). Everyone talks to everyone else at the bar enjoying a world of experiences as well as one's own companion.
Food and serice are A1. What one would expect. Far and away our favorite Santa Fe dining experience.

Our first night in Santa Fe we opted for bar seating and a simpler menu. The drinks were delicious: Sage Advice: a vodka martini with fresh sage and ginger and my husband had the winter margarita with notes of vanilla honey and spiced rum.
I had the local wagyu beef burger which is served with cheese, green chili, and fresh guacamole and a grilled scallion on the side. It was the best burger I’ve eaten in a long time! Perfectly cooked, flavorful and filling. My husband had Phoebe’s gluten-free fried chicken with buttermilk dressing and fries with a side of brussel sprouts: he was very happy. It was tender, light, crunchy and delicious and I don’t cook chicken! The bartender was extremely attentive and we talked to a local couple who us many recommendations for our month here in Santa Fe!

It was a special girlfriend night. I expected the pricing - would have like a bit more
Wowow flavors ..... however it was indeed delicious. Especially the Tuna Tartar !
Blood orange margarita- so delish!
Would have like my duck a bit crusted
Chicken Picatta ( in lunch menu) but available was overpriced @$37.00
Will return for a nice lunch sometime soon .
Private Parking a plus on Canyon Road!!

Compound is a main stay to Santa Fe for both food and atmosphere for locals and guests visiting town and a must to dine at. Entrees and wine list prices are higher than most in the area. In our last experience on a weekend during quiet season, service was slower than usual (30 minutes for glass of wine and cocktail) and one of the entrees came out of the kitchen missing the polenta completely.

We've been to The Compound previously and loved it. So we return to it when we are in Santa Fe. The small bar is great for a pre-dinner drink or good bar menu. But call ahead to sit in the 12 seat bar...it's usually packed with locals!! Food and service are topnotch.

IT IS A QUIET CHARMING PLACE TO ENJOY EATING AND CONVERSATION. CLASSY IS THE WAY TO DESCRIBE IT. THE WAITER WAS THE BARTENDER. VERY UNUSUAL EXPERIENCE FOR US. HE PREPARED A GREAT MARTINI FOR MY WIFE AND MANHATTAN FOR ME. NO KIDDING, TRY THE ONION RINGS. NOT GREASY AND DELICIOUS. WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT OUT TABLE, THEY SMELLED SO GOOD THE COUPLE NEXT TO US ORDERED THE SAME. THE RINGS WERE A VERY NICE APPETIZER. ONLY 5 STARS?

I have always loved the Compound. It's been my favorite restaurant since we moved to Santa Fe. However, the other day I ordered the stacked salad. When I came home I got immediately sick and it lasted for 24 hours. Please rethink this recipe.

thanks.

Two couples from Los Alamos celebrating birthdays for three in our party.
When we came in, we were seated in a dining room with only one other table occupied and were seated right next to them - the tables were so close together that one of our party could barely pull his chair out to sit down. Shortly afterward, a large party was seated near us, and the noise level was so loud that we could not converse at our table.
Although the wine was wonderful and the food was amazing, with prices this high ($450 dinner for four), we wanted to also enjoy a relaxing and intimate dinner. We were unable to have that experience here, so we will not be back.

We have visited the compound for many special occasions and usually it is top notch. However, we went for our anniversary and the service was awful. They just seem too be too busy to care. We felt unattended for the entire meal. It’s too expensive for that service.

Shaun or Shawn was our waiter and he was a gem. Couldn't have had more helpful dish descriptions that made our choosing from the excellent variety a bit easier. And the food was nicely prepared and presented. Shaun was attentive and friendly, but didn't fawn over us and wasn't stuffy, as a few waiters in high end restaurants might be inclined to be.
The cocktails were expertly prepared, "not too sweet," as I asked, and with pride.

A real nice evening out with dear friends. They left with a great impression of the Compound, Canyon Road and Santa Fe.

Tired - tired - tired. Told by hostess our table hadn’t left yet. But offered2 spaces at the Bar. What!? Hostile Andry bar tender. Tired - shabby decor. When seated table smelled like dead fish/ waiter was nonexistent / huge clash of dishes falling in kitchen. Food a Ok. Not great. Sad thing to see a once great place mired in mediocrity... and with higher than mediocre pricing.

Charming restaurant on Canyon Road with superb service and an inviting, elegant atmosphere. The food matches the setting. The tomato soup was fantastic and the New Zealand venison was tender, flavorful and lean without a hint of a gamey taste. Wonderful meal.
